TheMembers

Tap a star to rate

TheMembers is a Portuguese-language platform for building a members area (área de membros): the private space where your students log in, find your courses, take assessments and talk to each other. It is aimed at infoproducers, as its help center calls them, and at businesses that sell or deliver courses and want the member experience under their own name. The help center describes the main parts of the product: the member area as students see it, an admin dashboard, integrations with checkouts, payment gateways, video players and ad tools, TheMembers' own checkout and payment gateway, and TheApps, which publishes the platform as a mobile app.

The showcase and carousels

The heart of the student view is the showcase (vitrine), a home screen built from carousels. After you create a course in the content menu, you place it in a carousel so students can see it, and you order the carousels as you like. Three automatic carousels can be switched on: a trending carousel that shows the ten most-watched and most-completed lessons in positions 1 to 10, a continue-watching carousel, and a My List carousel built from lessons each student has marked as favorites. A newer Express layout lets students pick the course they want themselves, instead of you adding content one item at a time to a track; the original Custom layout remains the default.

You can open the showcase before login, so visitors see the carousels and their descriptions and are only asked to sign in when they click into content. Locked content can be hidden; the help center notes that if you hide it, students cannot make additional purchases inside the platform and only see what is released to them. Students can set study reminders that email them to start, continue or finish a course.

Branding and design

Most of the help center is about making the member area look like your own. In the appearance settings you add your logos, set the main button and text colors, choose a background color or gradient, change the main font and switch on a page indicator. A side menu lists the lessons a student can reach quickly and shows which ones they have marked as complete. Main banners at the top of the showcase work as a billboard for notices and launches, with no limit on how many you create, adjustable transition time and style, a custom order, and links to a WhatsApp support number or a landing page.

The login page offers 3 templates for the login box, a choice of its position, an external link to a sales page or form, and a setting for which page students land on after login. Lesson pages have their own theme and an on-screen ticker (letreiro) for messages during a lesson. You can add custom HTML, set the platform's name and SEO description, put important links or a community button in the header, and add social links, terms of use and a privacy policy to the footer. The help center points out that TheMembers provides no template for terms or privacy policies and recommends your own legal team write them.

Community

Community 2.0 is a social network inside the member area. There is a single community, divided into topics or channels that the help center compares to Twitter threads, and creators use it for networking, internal communication, student interaction and launches. You can also run a separate community for each product. Each community gets its own icon, cover image and color. Posts can be pinned, students' actions can be limited, and moderation can be switched on per channel so that student posts are only published after you or your team approve them. Students are notified on the platform when someone reacts to their post, comments on it or replies to their comment.

Gamification

A points system rewards activity. You define levels, which act as named stages or tags for where a student is in the game, set the scoring rules, create rewards, and can reset the whole ranking when you start a new cycle.

Assessments

The assessment system covers several formats. Multiple-choice quizzes are the basic type. Discursive assessments take open text answers. File upload assessments collect work such as a PDF, a handout or a project in .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .pdf, .csv, .xls, .xlsx, .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, .zip or .rar format. A behavioral or profile assessment has no right or wrong answers and sorts students into profiles; the help center's example is customers in psychology who use it to identify choleric, sanguine, phlegmatic and melancholic temperaments. You can attach feedback to each question, which the student sees on submitting, along with whether the answer was approved.

Selling, integrations and the app

TheMembers has its own checkout with its own payment gateway, and the help center has a separate section on it, including how to create a product or offer. It also integrates with external checkouts and gateways, with Hotmart integration and connecting a checkout to UTMify among its most-read articles, and with video players and ad tools.

TheApps turns the member area into a mobile app published under your own developer accounts. The help center walks you through creating an Apple developer account for the App Store and checking or requesting a free DUNS number, which store registration requires, and explains how the platform's app works.

Support

Help comes through the help center, organized by audience: getting started for new members, admin dashboard settings, support for administrators, and articles you can use to support your own students. If an answer is missing, you can reach the team by chat or email. The help center does not list prices or plan terms, so costs are worked out with the company.

Who it suits

TheMembers suits Portuguese-speaking course creators, coaches and businesses who already sell, or plan to sell, through a checkout such as Hotmart or TheMembers' own, and who want the student side to look like their own branded showcase of rows and banners rather than a plain course list. The carousels, banners and automatic rows suit catalogs with many courses, Community 2.0 with moderation and gamification suits programs built on group interaction, and assessment types such as file uploads and behavioral profiles suit schools that grade submitted work and psychology programs that profile their students. Creators who want their own app in the stores get a guided route through TheApps. A creator with a single short course may use only a small part of the customization the platform offers.
