What Spreadmind is

Spreadmind is a German e-learning platform that is set up and run for its customers rather than handed over as a do-it-yourself tool. The home page title calls it "Die All-in-One E-Learning-Plattform für Unternehmen" (the all-in-one e-learning platform for companies), and the pitch is a ready-configured social learning platform tailored to each customer's product concept, with Spreadmind taking over technical support, payment processing, administration and end-customer support. The company is Spreadmind GmbH in Rottweil, its footer says "Made in Germany", and its founder and CEO is Mario Schneider, whom the blog describes as an e-learning expert who has supported training providers for more than 15 years. Its motto is "Wissen verbreiten. Leben verbessern." (spread knowledge, improve lives).

Spreadmind is explicit about its audience. The home page says it is ideal for training companies with 10 or more employees and for companies with 100 or more employees, and "Nicht für Soloselbstständige Coaches / Trainer" (not for solo self-employed coaches or trainers), because setting up and running an e-learning platform takes time and technical skill. Its industry pages cover training companies, management consultancies, media companies, software companies, financial services providers and consulting firms.

What a training company actually gets

Three base packages. The EXPERT-Suite is for selling digital training to individuals (B2C), the EXPERT-Suite PLUS covers the particular requirements of business customers (B2B), and the ENTERPRISE-Suite is for training a company's own employees (B2E). Two expansion stages, Social Learning and a Native App, sit on top.

Learning features. The feature list covers a course builder, a learning management system, individual learning experiences, a training tool, a compliance manager, learning progress tracking, virtual learning events, multilingual support, a trainer dashboard, appointment booking and a members' area. The FAQ says multiple languages are planned into the initial setup so a platform can be used internationally, and existing e-learning content can be brought in through SCORM integration; the feature list names SCORM and xAPI integration. AI course creation and an AI quiz generator are listed too.

Social learning. The Social Learning stage adds profiles, groups, a newsfeed, a messenger and gamification. Spreadmind's vision section describes the result as a combination of a social network and a streaming platform for a company's training content, where customers learn and also network with each other. One customer, the Grundl Leadership Institut, built what the site calls a "Netflix-Modell" for leaders in the B2B market on it.

Native app. The Native App stage provides a native white-label app with push notifications and offline content.

Selling and back office. The platform includes an e-learning shop system and payment processing. The Backoffice Service takes over payment, invoicing, dunning, bookkeeping and end-customer support, all in a reseller model that covers the contract paperwork. A comparison table on Spreadmind's own blog lists its transaction fee as 7.2% plus €0.35, GDPR compliance, VAT calculation and payment by SEPA direct debit, PayPal, credit card, Giropay, iDeal and Sofortüberweisung, and the same post describes a visual website builder, landing pages, a members' area, more than 1,500 design templates, a blog with a podcast function, and SEO, email marketing and affiliate management tools.

Integrations. Through Spreadmind's integration tool the platform connects to a customer's CRM or email marketing provider. Contacts and their tags sync automatically, so access to content can be granted by tag, and learning progress or purchases on the platform can trigger automated campaigns in the CRM. The feature list also names marketing and CRM integration, media integration, and SSO and 2FA.

Design. Each platform is set up in the customer's branding (colors, shapes, logo, fonts) on its chosen domain or a subdomain. Afterwards a drag-and-drop design builder lets customers change the design themselves; in the Social Learning stage, changes are made through simple color settings.

Setup, hosting and support

Each customer is assigned a project manager and a technical lead, and together they run a concept workshop, the initial setup, a "Meet your Platform" meeting, a correction phase, and the handover and go-live. The FAQ puts the whole process at about 6 weeks, not counting the time the customer needs to load its own content, and says faster feedback shortens the correction phase.

Platforms run on managed cloud hosting at Amazon AWS with servers in Germany (Frankfurt), including updates, backups, performance monitoring and cybersecurity. Customers choose a shared server, which costs less and suits many small and mid-sized projects, or a stand-alone server with dedicated resources for larger, high-traffic projects or special security requirements. The domain stays with any registrar and is linked by domain mapping.

Support is the company's stated strength: response times are usually under 24 hours on working days, and the handbook has step-by-step guides for every feature. Spreadmind says it has built its framework since 2016 from open-source components and its own software, which it credits for lower prices than an agency building a platform from scratch. Agile Custom Development adds features over time through innovation workshops, and the service menu also lists an onboarding and setup service, a managed service, individual solutions and a ZFU Zulassungsservice (ZFU approval service).

Pricing and how to start

The pages print no package prices. The route in is a feasibility check (Machbarkeits-Check), followed by a free initial call and a free in-depth consultation with an e-learning consultant; if both sides want to proceed, a concept workshop starts the project. Free tools include an e-learning requirements list, a GDPR support resource and an AI feasibility check.

Who it suits

Spreadmind suits a training company, consultancy or academy that wants its own branded learning platform, sold to individuals, business customers or its own staff, without hiring people to run payments, invoicing and support. The FAQ's case for such companies is extra income that does not depend on consultants' billable hours, and the blog adds that one platform can carry B2B and B2C offers side by side, with interfaces and custom development added as needed. Customers quoted on the site include Der Unternehmercoach, which says "Nach langer Suche haben wir mit Spreadmind endlich eine Lösung gefunden, die perfekt zu unseren komplexen Anforderungen passt" (after a long search we finally found a solution in Spreadmind that fits our complex requirements perfectly), and former national handball player Martin Strobel, who needed a technical partner for a new career. Solo coaches and trainers are outside the target group by Spreadmind's own account.
