Kattedra is an Italian training platform built for trainers, training centers and companies that deliver regulated courses, above all workplace safety (sicurezza sul lavoro) and ECM training for the health professions, plus CFP and other subjects. It covers three ways of teaching in one product: the physical classroom (aula), live videoconference and asynchronous e-learning. The company lists its address in Milan, and its site is written in Italian for the Italian training market. The homepage calls Kattedra "La piattaforma numero uno in Italia per la formazione per la sicurezza sul lavoro" (the number one platform in Italy for workplace safety training) and says it is chosen by over 5,000 training organizations; the feature pages give the figure as over 2,500. The homepage also says that over 100,000 people are trained on Kattedra every year. Its core promise is that every activity is tracked and certified, so a trainer can prove attendance and results when an inspector asks.
Classroom courses without the paperwork
For in-person training, Kattedra handles the administration around the session. Automatic booking sends invitations and reminders to learners and manages their confirmations. A dashboard plans sessions, teachers, tutors and rooms. Certificates of attendance (attestati) are generated in a click and sent to learners automatically. Kattedra also keeps a training record for each learner (libretto formativo) covering courses taken on the platform and outside it, which the site ties to Italy's workplace safety law, D.Lgs 81/2008. Assessment tests are certified through user logs, and satisfaction questionnaires are sent automatically; the site says these follow ISO 9001. A feature called Agenda tracks deadlines, renewals and refresher courses, so a trainer no longer chases expiry dates in spreadsheets, and it can be shared with client companies so they can monitor their own staff training.
Certified videoconference
The videoconference module is where Kattedra pushes hardest on compliance. The site says it is "la prima piattaforma e-learning conforme all’Accordo Stato Regioni 7/7/2016 e alla Norma UNI/PdR 149:2023" (the first e-learning platform compliant with the State-Regions Agreement of 7/7/2016 and the UNI/PdR 149:2023 standard), and a homepage section explains how it helps safety trainers keep up with the new State-Regions Agreement of 17/04/25.
The workflow runs in four steps: the trainer logs in and creates the event, the platform sends access details to each learner, the learner authenticates and joins a shared virtual classroom, and the session streams live to their device with no app to download. During the session, Kattedra tracks attendance in real time, even with the webcam off, calls back the attention of learners who drift, and can launch tests and satisfaction surveys on learners' devices with automatic, real-time grading. An optional facial recognition system with biometric tracking checks that the person behind the screen is the registered learner. Learners can ask questions and talk to tutors, teachers and each other through video interaction, and the trainer can share a library of multimedia content, exercises and games. After the session the platform writes and archives the course file and the minutes of the final tests, generates attendance reports, sends certificates and schedules renewals.
E-learning: a ready-made catalog and your own courses
The e-learning side works two ways. A trainer can deliver Kattedra's own catalog, which the site puts at over 300 asynchronous courses in workplace safety and ECM, written and kept up to date by Kattedra's team of subject experts and instructional designers. Examples on the page include initial and refresher training for workers, managers, RLS and RSPP/ASPP, and ECM courses on radiation protection, dealing with violence against healthcare workers, and effective communication. Some content uses gamification, with lessons styled after video games.
A trainer can also build a personal catalog. Courses are assembled in the dashboard from modules in several formats, under what Kattedra calls the MELTS protocol: interactive modules, video lessons and podcasts, handouts, texts and files, and intermediate tests and final quizzes. The order is set by drag and drop. The site contrasts this directly with SCORM courses, which it describes as "grigie slide a rotazione in powerpoint" (gray PowerPoint slides on rotation). An update to a course reaches every enrolled user in real time.
Attendance tracking carries over to self-paced study. The platform logs each user's activity and asks for periodic feedback; if the learner does not respond, it suspends the stream. To complete a course the learner must view every intermediate module and pass the final test where one is required. A chat lets learners ask the trainer questions and talk to each other, and Tutor Analytics reports in real time on courses, lesson completion, invitations and more.
Business model and companies
Kattedra makes a point of never selling courses to end users itself: "la vendita dei corsi è consentita solo per mano dei formatori, consulenti e strutture formative che hanno scelto Kattedra" (selling courses is allowed only to the trainers, consultants and training organizations that have chosen Kattedra). The site presents this as a guarantee that the platform will not compete with its own customers. Trainers can also share their courses with other trainers, who sell them while the author earns a percentage.
For large companies, the homepage speaks to organizations with hundreds of employees ("Centinaia di dipendenti"), several sites and shift work, offering one platform for safety courses, certified videoconference training and internal training paths. The dashboard manages a database of companies, user profiles and branch locations, assigns work groups, names managers and tutors, and grants privileges, and invitations go to one, ten or a hundred users in a click.
Certificates, compliance and privacy
The site says its attendance certificates are valid by law ("validi a norma di legge") and can be customized with your brand through a built-in editor. At the end of a course Kattedra checks the outcome and informs the learner, the company, the training manager and the tutor. Beyond the State-Regions Agreement and UNI/PdR 149:2023, the homepage says the platform complies with ANPAL directives for financed training. The e-learning page says sensitive data and biometric parameters are protected by encryption in line with the European GDPR, and that every login is protected by encrypted systems.
Access, trial and support
The pages publish no prices. Access is organized through top-ups (ricariche) and subscriptions, and the catalog is offered "al prezzo di una semplice ricarica" (at the price of a simple top-up). Trying the platform is free: you enter your e-mail and receive dashboard access, including tutorials, course demos, training modules and the top-up plans, with "Zero rischi, zero vincoli" (no risk, no commitment). The full catalog is shown on request through a free demo. The support page offers free tutorials on using the dashboard, delivering courses and subscriptions, sending certificates automatically or by hand, and how top-ups and subscriptions work, alongside a knowledge center and a blog. A sales office and a technical support address are listed on every page.
Who it suits
Kattedra suits Italian training organizations whose work is regulated: safety trainers under the State-Regions Agreement, ECM providers, consultants running financed training, and HR or safety teams in companies with many employees across sites. Its case studies include TSL Servizi, a training organization running 300 courses a year that moved from manual invitations to Kattedra's classroom tools, and 2Di Group / IEC, which switched to its certified videoconference. The tracking, certificates and catalog are built for this market, and an Italian-language trainer who needs to prove attendance will find the whole workflow covered in one place.
