GetResponse is an email marketing and lifecycle automation platform that also lets creators build and sell online courses. Its about page says the company was founded in Poland in 1998 and grew from a one-person business into a global one, with 350,000+ customers in 183 countries, 300+ employees, 30+ tools and 150+ integrations. The course side arrived as part of what the press center calls the GetResponse Content Monetization Platform, launched in September 2024 for online educators, solopreneurs and content creators who want to create, market and sell what they know. For a course creator, the appeal is that the course, the email list, the landing pages and the sales automation all sit in one account.
Building a course
The centerpiece is the AI course creator: the features page says you can build unlimited online courses with the AI-powered creator and turn them into immersive learning experiences. Courses can include interactive quizzes, which the page says take minutes to create, and customizable certificates that learners receive to show what they achieved. Video hosting is built in: you can upload videos of up to 2GB each in various formats, so lessons do not need a separate video host.
Around the courses, the content monetization tools add premium newsletters (paid subscriptions to your content and resources), a creator's profile where your audience can discover you and your offers in one place, and GetResponse HUB, where you manage your courses and paid newsletter subscriptions together. The landing page section describes the monetization plan as a way to create online courses and premium newsletter subscriptions and to nurture a community, and lists the GetResponse Hub mobile app and a WordPress integration among its parts.
Selling and marketing courses
Payments run through Stripe and PayPal integrations, which the features page presents as the way to make buying your content easy and secure. The rest of the selling toolkit is GetResponse's marketing platform:
- Landing pages and a website builder, both with an AI wizard. The landing page builder lets you edit meta titles, descriptions and URLs for SEO, add alt text, publish SSL-secured pages and preview mobile layouts, and advanced users can add custom CSS, JavaScript or HTML for tracking codes and analytics pixels. A GetResponse blog post counts over 180 landing page templates.
- Signup forms, popups and conversion funnels, including lead magnet funnels, to grow a list before a launch.
- Email marketing and autoresponders, with an AI email generator, an OpenAI-powered writing assistant and send-time tools called Perfect Timing and Time Travel.
- Marketing automation with a visual workflow builder, web events (such as a contact watching a video or downloading content), advanced triggering and prebuilt templates.
- SMS, web push notifications, live chats and paid ads on Meta and Google from the same dashboard.
- Reports on campaigns, email opens and clicks, list growth and ecommerce revenue.
Webinars matter for course sellers. GetResponse's comparison post on its own blog describes webinars run from the dashboard with interactive whiteboards, screen sharing, an interactive chat room, recording, Q&A, moderated chat, multiple hosts and payment gateways, and says you can sell anything from products to courses directly from a webinar. Leads collected through a webinar land on your email list automatically. A separate GetResponse Webinars app lets you host and attend webinars from a phone, alongside the GetResponse Mobile App for campaigns and GetResponse Chats for customer conversations.
Plans, the free plan and the trial
GetResponse runs a free plan, which the about page says launched in 2021. The features page lists what it includes: 2,500 newsletters a month, a drag-and-drop email creator, a list of up to 500 contacts, a landing page, and signup and contact forms. The landing page FAQ adds that the Free plan allows landing pages with up to 1,000 unique visits per month, and that A/B testing and unlimited visits are only in paid plans.
There is also a 14-day free trial of premium features, with no credit card required, and the landing page FAQ says that after the trial ends you can continue on the Free plan with limited features.
Paid pricing starts with the Starter plan, from $15.58 a month on the features page. GetResponse's comparison post explains that the price depends on list size: with 1,000 contacts, Starter costs just over $15 a month and covers email marketing, forms and popups, autoresponders, landing pages and one custom automation workflow. The Marketer plan costs $48 a month and adds marketing automation, advanced segmentation, contact scoring and tagging and ecommerce features. The same post says the Creator plan also includes webinars, courses, premium newsletters and the other content monetization features, and that buying a 1-year plan brings an 18% discount. The pages give no price for the Creator plan itself. For medium and large companies, high-volume MAX plans add premium support, transactional email and AI product recommendations.
None of the pages state whether GetResponse takes a fee on course sales on top of Stripe or PayPal.
Support and learning resources
The homepage promises 24/7 support from a 5-star rated Customer Success Team. The support page gives the detail: email support Monday to Friday with help within 24 hours in one of 7 languages (English, Polish, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese), live chat Monday to Friday in English from 8 AM to 10 PM (GMT+1) and in Polish from 9 AM to 5 PM, and a chatbot available 24/7 in all languages. The same page counts 34 experts and a usual chat response time of 60 seconds or less. The comparison post adds that Enterprise customers get their own account manager. Help center articles and videos, API docs, a webinar library and dedicated migration and onboarding support round this out.
GetResponse also teaches. Its blog post on online learning platforms describes GetResponse Academy's free digital marketing certification courses, covering marketing automation, content marketing, landing page and conversion optimization, email marketing and inbound marketing.
Who it suits
GetResponse suits a creator, coach or solopreneur who already sells to an email list, or wants to build one, and wants courses, premium newsletters, webinars and the marketing that sells them in a single account. The free plan and the 14-day trial make it easy to test, and the AI course creator shortens the work of turning expertise into a first course. Because the product grew from email marketing, its depth is in automation, segmentation, landing pages and analytics; the course tools cover quizzes, certificates and video but the pages describe no cohort scheduling or student administration. An academy that needs those will be better served by a dedicated course platform, while a creator whose business runs on email will find the course creator fits naturally into the tools they already use.
