What Forento is
Forento is an online course platform for experts: coaches, consultants and educators who want to sell courses and memberships under their own brand. The homepage pitch is to "Bring your lessons, downloads, memberships, and payments together in one academy that is easy to manage", aimed at people "who want to spend more time teaching and less time managing software." It is a product for the creator. You build an academy, set your prices and bring your own students; Forento supplies the course area, the membership billing, the payment connection and, on the higher plans, the website.
The site has dedicated pages for consultants, sports coaches and music teachers, and its FAQ describes the audience as coaches, consultants, educators and other experts who want to sell their knowledge. The homepage shows 4.8/5 on AppSumo, and its "You're in good hands" section lists 151 countries and 20,000+ products.
Building courses
A Forento course turns "workshops, coaching methods, or professional knowledge into structured lessons", which students follow at their own pace. You add lessons, videos and supporting resources to a course, and the same academy handles course creation, student access and payments. Besides courses you can sell a downloadable guide or support students with coaching sessions, and all products and customers sit in one dashboard.
The homepage lays out the setup in three steps: pick one outcome you can help students achieve and add your material, choose a course price or membership and connect Stripe or PayPal, then invite your first students and use their questions to improve the next lesson. The company's blog adds that every course created on Forento comes with a landing page, built from a default template you edit with the course information, pricing and an image thumbnail. Two course features are reserved for the top plan: certificates and content dripping both require Scale.
Memberships
Memberships are the second half of the product. You give members ongoing access to your courses and resources through monthly or annual membership tiers, and you can keep the membership and individual products side by side in the same academy. The FAQ suggests a path many creators follow: start with an individual course or resource and add memberships as the offer develops.
To help plan a membership, the homepage includes an Earnings Calculator with a slider for the monthly price and a slider for the number of academy members, up to 250. At its default setting of 50 members it shows monthly revenue of $1,950.
Your brand, domain and website
The branded academy carries your own name and branding. On the domain side you have two routes. Basic and above let you use a custom domain, including a subdomain of a site you already run, and the FAQ confirms you can keep an existing website and link it to your Forento academy. If you would rather build the whole site in Forento, the drag-and-drop website builder is included on Start and Scale. The homepage says it covers anything from a simple landing page for one product to a full business website, and the blog mentions a library of high-converting templates. A blog and a community area for your students also come with Start and Scale.
The academy can be offered in your students' language, with English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish available.
Payments and fees
Payments run through Stripe or PayPal: you "simply choose between Stripe and PayPal and let Forento care about the rest", and the homepage says you can accept payments from customers around the world within minutes. The FAQ adds the honest caveat that your ability to open an account, and the payment methods available, depend on your country and the provider.
The fee structure is stated plainly on the homepage: "Free has a 20% sales commission. Paid plans have no Forento sales commission. Stripe or PayPal processing fees apply on every plan."
Plans, prices and trial
The homepage prints two of the plans. Free has no recurring subscription and costs $0, with the 20% sales commission. Basic costs $15 USD per month billed annually, or 19 USD billed monthly, and "includes a custom domain and removes the Forento watermark". Above it sit Start and Scale: both add the website builder, blog and community, and Scale adds certificates and content dripping. The homepage does not print the Start and Scale prices; they sit behind its "Compare plans" link.
Paid plans include a 30-day trial, and no credit card is required to start one. The FAQ spells out the difference: Free is an ongoing plan with a commission, while the trial lets you evaluate a paid plan before you pay for it.
Moving over and getting help
For creators coming from another course platform, the FAQ says "You can upload your course material and recreate your offer in Forento", and asks you to get in touch before moving existing students or subscriptions, "as the steps depend on your current platform and payment provider."
Support is by chat: "Every plan includes chat support", and live chat runs on the website itself. Start and Scale are recommended for creators who want more comprehensive onboarding and setup assistance. A product demo is available from the main menu, and the footer lists a reseller program and a referral program.
Who builds on Forento
The creator highlights on the homepage show the range. Axel Bard Bringéus runs Seed Round Success, which trains first-time founders on fundraising, and describes Forento as simpler to use and fairly priced. Coach Walter teaches practical boxing and self-defense through Sharp Shield and uses Forento to spend less time building his website. Nathan Park's The DIY Goalie trains ice hockey goalkeepers, Dean Arnett builds training academies for journalists and filmmakers, including the Frontline Club and WAN-IFRA, and Juan Van Emmerloot teaches drumming through Drumming Secrets Revealed.
The testimonials point the same way. Jeff Skipper of Advisory Masters writes that Forento "was just right for a solo entrepreneur like me", and Nina Millan of Travel Creators Club says "Setting up courses, publishing products, connecting a domain, and managing the platform was incredibly easy with Forento."
Who Forento suits
Forento suits a solo expert or small training business with an existing audience: a consultant, a coach, a music or sports teacher, a professional trainer. The free plan lets you publish a first offer with no subscription, and the 30-day trial lets you test a paid tier without a card. Once sales pick up, the paid plans remove the 20% commission, which is the clearest reason to move off Free.
The caveats come from the plan split. The website builder, blog and community start at Start, and certificates and content dripping need Scale, so a creator who wants all of those is choosing the top tier. Payments are limited to Stripe and PayPal, which matters in countries where neither is easy to open. Within those limits, Forento keeps the job of running an academy small and clear.
