What Duanshu is

Duanshu (短书) is a hosted platform for selling knowledge and running online education in China, built around WeChat. The homepage title calls it a 知识付费平台 (paid-knowledge platform) and claims "「20万机构」知识付费都在用" (200,000 institutions use it for paid knowledge). The site describes it as "一款知识付费SaaS软件" (a paid-knowledge SaaS tool) that lets a teaching team build its own paid-knowledge platform while cutting operating cost and time. The same passage claims a place among the top ten paid-knowledge platform tools and says Duanshu has appeared on paid-knowledge platform rankings several times.

The solutions menu shows who it serves: education and training institutions (教育培训), knowledge creators (知识付费), community operators (社群私域), and companies running internal and external training (企业内训). Further products cover a live-streaming system, a content e-commerce shop for creators, mini-programs, A.I. micro-courses, WeCom (企业微信) tools, paid consulting Q&A, a UGC short-video community and custom development.

The footer names the operator as 南京厚建云计算有限公司 (Nanjing Houjian Cloud Computing Co., Ltd.), with office addresses in Nanjing, Guangzhou and Beijing. The partner section adds that the platform draws on more than ten years of software development at 厚建软件 (Houjian Software) for operations, high-concurrency handling, system architecture, back-end systems and streaming.

Teaching live and online

Live teaching is the center of the education product. The online learning system page lists "6大直播方式,满足老师多种直播教学场景" (six live-streaming methods for teachers' different teaching scenarios). Teachers and students can join from a PC web page, a mobile H5 page or a mini-program at the same time, interact in real time with students asking questions online, and every live class is uploaded so it can be replayed at any time. A live room can hold several teaching assistants who help with the teaching and manage students. The homepage adds thousand-person live broadcasts and large and small classes, and students can replay both live and recorded lessons whenever they want. For streaming, the site names a partnership with 中科大洋 (Dayang), which supplies streaming solutions to provincial and city radio and TV stations, and credits it with high-concurrency, low-latency live and OBS streaming.

Students can follow live and recorded classes inside WeChat, and teachers keep their usual preparation and teaching style while syncing a course online. The same page lists dual-teacher classrooms, MOOCs, one-to-one lessons, trial classes, video review and teacher-student interaction, and it supports a blended model in which students prepay and register online and then attend class in person.

Courses can be delivered as audio, video, image-and-text and interactive lessons. A school reaches its students through a PC web school, an H5 shop, mini-programs and a standalone app, and the site says teaching modes can switch freely between them. Beyond single courses, the content forms it names are live sessions, courses, communities, columns (专栏) and training camps (训练营), so cohort programs sit alongside self-paced courses.

The A.I.微课 product is described as "边练边学的A.I.互动课堂" (an AI interactive classroom where students learn while practicing). The partner list credits iFlytek (科大讯飞) speech recognition, speech synthesis and AI with powering the platform's smarter features.

Community and private traffic

Community operation is automated. The homepage says "社群机器人打通微信群和教学过程,打卡分享、作业考试更高效" (community robots connect WeChat groups with the teaching process, making check-ins, sharing, homework and exams more efficient). The 笔记圈 (Notes Circle) product, described as a mobile community for learning organizations, uses a WeChat robot to manage hundreds of groups, syncing chat records and materials, pushing messages across groups and replying automatically. It adds forums, Q&A and support tickets, one-click sharing of live streams, short videos and PDFs, and distribution, points rewards and check-in rankings to keep a community active.

For companies, Duanshu connects to WeCom (企业微信) for mass messaging, automatic replies and content sync, which the site presents as a secure and stable way to build private traffic. User management covers learning statistics, points leaderboards and personalized tags, so a school can segment learners and keep them engaged for longer.

Marketing and sales

Marketing is a large part of the offer. The homepage advertises "35+强力营销工具" (35+ powerful marketing tools), and the learning system page lists 20 viral marketing tools for the education product, including distribution rebates, member points, time-limited discounts, invitation cards and group buying (拼团). Promoter posters turn students into referrers, a WeChat robot invites students into groups around the clock, and forced group entry (强制加群) makes sure buyers land in the teacher's community.

Acquisition reaches across the WeChat (微信), DingTalk (钉钉), Douyin (抖音) and Baidu (百度) ecosystems, and the platform ties together mini-programs on Douyin, Alibaba, Baidu and WeChat: "超过20个APP流量入口,合计覆盖超10亿活跃用户" (more than 20 app traffic entry points covering over 1 billion active users). A tracking CRM follows where each user came from. The site lists paid communities, courses, live sessions, product sales (带货) and consulting Q&A as ways to earn, and speaks separately of four monetization models.

The homepage frames the system as three loops: traffic from four platforms (WeChat, Baidu, Alibaba and 头条 Toutiao), course marketing through paid lesson formats, and management through detailed user management and data analysis. Its automation covers robot management, group sync and linked communities, and the conversion tools add lotteries (抽奖) to distribution, group buying and memberships. The learning system page pitches an online brand shop that "让12亿微信用户轻松找到" (lets WeChat's users find it easily) and says repeat sharing helps small and mid-sized institutions reach beyond their local area. Two partners support the marketing side: 稿定设计 (Gaoding Design), an online poster and cutout design tool, for faster promotional graphics, and 有机云 (Youjiyun), a WeChat automation provider, for the community robots.

Payments and infrastructure come through named partners. Duanshu says it works with Youzan Pay (有赞支付), which it describes as the only licensed clearing channel among domestic e-commerce SaaS providers, for risk control and large, fast withdrawals; with Alibaba Cloud (阿里云) for distributed storage, elastic compute and CDN; and with Tencent Cloud (腾讯云) for WeChat official accounts, the WeChat merchant platform and mini-programs, including WeChat Pay and mobile live streaming.

Pricing and service

The homepage and the learning system page print no prices; a separate 资费 (pricing) page sits in the menu. The homepage announces a 创享版 (Chuangxiang) edition on a monthly payment model, aimed at testing new channels at low cost, and says details come from a dedicated account manager or by registering. A 免费体验 (free experience) button invites visitors to register and try the platform, and the learning system page mentions an exclusive discount for newcomers. Larger buyers can request a demo (申请演示), and a 渠道代理 (channel agent) program is open to resellers.

Service is spelled out in detail: professional customer service, remote one-on-one guidance, online video tutorials, 15+ active peer exchange groups, offline salons, "7 x 24小时运维服务" (round-the-clock operations and maintenance), professional pre-sale and after-sale engineers, custom deployment for large clients, and joint operations and promotion.

Who it suits

Duanshu suits Chinese training institutions and knowledge creators whose students live in WeChat: an exam-prep school, a music or calligraphy studio, a children's education program or a baking school. Customer logos on the site include 启航学校·考研网络课堂, 新思路教育集团, 甜悦家专业烘培, 俊云书法工作室 and 柠檬音乐课. Live classes with teaching assistants, training camps and community robots make it a fit for cohort and live programs, and companies can use the enterprise training solution together with WeCom.

The platform is built around WeChat and other Chinese platforms, and the site and its service are presented in Chinese, so it serves teams that sell and teach inside that ecosystem.
