What Cursio is

Cursio is a hosted course platform for Spanish-speaking creators who want to sell courses under their own brand and their own domain. The homepage pitches it as "La plataforma de cursos online para el creador hispanohablante" (the online course platform for the Spanish-speaking creator), and the footer says it is "Hecho para LATAM y España" (made for Latin America and Spain). The platform, the support and the documentation are all in Spanish.

The site is unusually direct about who it is for. It names coaches and consultants who want to sell their method as recorded courses instead of only one-to-one sessions, professionals such as designers, programmers, nutritionists and accountants, and creators moving from another platform because they are tired of paying commissions, living on a subdomain and not controlling their student data. It is just as direct about who should look elsewhere: a school that needs several instructors ("Cursio es para creadores individuales"), a creator who wants a marketplace to bring in students, and anyone selling physical products.

Building a course

Lessons are built in a block editor the site likens to Notion. Each lesson can combine video, rich text, PDFs and quizzes, and blocks drag into a new order. Video uploads straight from the editor to streaming servers included in the plan, with adaptive streaming and no ads or watermarks, so a creator does not need a separate video host.

Courses can also be listened to. A creator uploads an mp3 to a lesson and an audio player appears; lessons then play one after another with the phone screen off, keep playing outside the app, can be controlled from the lock screen and resume where the student stopped. Playback goes up to 2× speed with a sleep timer, and reading and listening count toward the same course progress. The site is clear that Cursio does not narrate courses: the creator supplies the audio.

Certificates are included on every plan. They are generated when a student completes a course and carry the creator's branding and a verifiable URL. Each lesson has questions and answers, so students ask where the doubt comes up and the creator replies in place, and the homepage lists quizzes and comments among the included tools.

Completion gets its own set of tools. Students who bought and stalled receive automatic branded "retoma tu curso" (pick up your course) emails with a link to their next lesson, and every student returns to the exact point where they left off.

Selling and payments

Creators can sell single courses, packs and subscriptions, and every plan card lists bundles and subscriptions. The FAQ says the Pro plan supports one-time prices, recurring subscriptions (monthly or annual) and installment payments, all managed through Stripe. The included toolkit covers an integrated checkout, coupons and discounts, a landing page for the school, transactional emails, analytics and progress tracking.

The commission model is the core of the pitch. The FAQ states "Cursio cobra 0% de comisión por venta" (Cursio charges 0% commission per sale): the creator pays only the fixed subscription, student money goes straight to the creator's own account, and the only fees are the processor's standard ones, which the FAQ puts at about 2.9% + $0.30. The homepage lists Stripe, PayPal and Mercado Pago as integrated gateways. The company's guide for Colombia says Mercado Pago lets a school accept PSE, Nequi, Daviplata and Colombian cards and notes that Mercado Pago needs a verified account in Colombia to activate. Its guide for Argentina says a creator can connect Mercado Pago from the Cursio dashboard in minutes to take payments in pesos with installments, and offer Stripe in the same checkout for students paying in dollars.

Abandoned checkouts are chased automatically. Cursio sends three emails on days 1, 2 and 3, each with a link back to the purchase and timed to the hour the buyer left, and stops writing as soon as they pay. The dashboard shows how many carts are still open, who left them and how much has been recovered.

On domains, the FAQ says a school can run on the creator's own domain from the Starter plan by adding one DNS record, covering sales pages, checkout and the student area; Hobby schools use a cursio.app subdomain without anyone else's branding.

Marketing and analytics

Email marketing is a separate, optional add-on. The Marketing module handles campaigns, sequences and automations under the creator's brand and domain, with contacts and segments, capture forms and analytics, and buyers join the list automatically and can be segmented by what they bought. The FAQ says the module can be tried free for 14 days (everything can be built; sending needs the paid add-on), and creators who prefer their current tool can integrate Kit, Mailchimp or Brevo instead.

The analytics side reads the sales funnel for each product, from page views to checkout to purchase, sends automatic email alerts when something breaks, such as a payment gateway failing, and turns what it finds into plain-language suggestions, for example moving leads from free courses into a paid product.

Plans and pricing

Prices are in US dollars, billed monthly, with an annual option the pricing toggle marks at 30% off:

  • Hobby, $14 a month, for validating an idea: 1 course, a cap of up to 100 on student numbers, 5 GB of video hosting, 1,000 streaming minutes a month and 1 payment gateway.
  • Starter, $39 a month, marked most popular: 3 courses, a cap of up to 500 on student numbers, 20 GB of video hosting, 5,000 streaming minutes a month (about 83 hours), your own domain and 1 payment gateway.
  • Pro, $69 a month, for creators scaling an academy: unlimited courses and students, 100 GB of video hosting, unlimited streaming and all payment gateways.

Every plan includes 0% commission per sale, cart recovery, and bundles and subscriptions. All plans start with a 14-day free trial and no credit card. When the trial ends the school pauses until a plan is chosen, and content and students are kept. There are no contracts or penalties: a creator cancels from the dashboard and the plan stays active until the end of the paid period.

For institutions there is a custom service. Professional colleges, chambers and associations that train and accredit their members can have Cursio build what they need, such as several trainers, exams with a pass mark and a record, or enrollment connected to their own website, all on their domain. The site prices this from €3,000 plus a monthly usage fee.

Who it suits

Cursio suits one person building a school around their own name for a Spanish-speaking audience: a coach turning a method into a course, a nutritionist or designer selling what they know, or a creator leaving a commission-based platform who wants students, domain and data under their own control. Creators selling to Colombia or Argentina get local payment options through Mercado Pago next to Stripe and PayPal, and the audio player suits audiences who learn on their phones.

The caveats come from the company itself. The Colombia guide lists a fixed monthly price even in a month with no sales, and Mercado Pago's account verification, as points to weigh. The platform is built for a single instructor, so an academy with a teaching team or an organization training staff would need the custom institutional service.
