Vevox

Tap a star to rate

Vevox is a live polling, Q&A and quiz platform for lecturers, teachers, trainers and presenters. Participants join a session from any browser at vevox.app, with no download, and answer polls, submit questions and play quizzes while the results appear on the presenter's screen. The home page calls it "The AI-Assisted Polling, Quizzing and Q&A Platform" and "Top-rated for engagement, inclusion and measuring understanding." The site's copyright line names Auga Technologies Ltd.

Vevox sells to two markets: education plans "for teachers & lecturers" and business plans "for trainers & presenters." Many of the customers quoted on the site are university staff, including lecturers at Texas Tech University, the University of Massachusetts, Cedarville University, California State University Fullerton and the University of Chester.

Polls, quizzes and Q&A

Live polling. The poll types on the plan comparison include multichoice, live word clouds, images in questions, ranking, numeric, slider rating, open text (shown as a live text wall), XY plot, pie chart, star rating, matching, pin on image, spin the wheel, quick polls and a live number cloud. Before-and-after comparisons show how opinion or knowledge shifted, demographic segmentation splits results by the answer to another question, and "AI word clouds" reveal themes. LaTeX support lets science and math lecturers write formulas into polls.

Quizzes. Quizzes add correct answers, live leaderboards showing "average scores and toughest questions," speed scoring for tie breaks, countdown timers with optional music, team quizzes and weighted scoring. Self-paced quizzing "can be utilized for formative assessments and training," and detailed reports export to Excel "with scoring breakdowns whether anonymous or identified."

Anonymous Q&A. This is the feature the site leads with for classes: "By enabling anonymity, Vevox encourages even the shyest students to share their queries without hesitation." Hosts can moderate questions before they appear, let participants upvote, add labels, reply, pin announcements and hand moderation to a guest without giving them an account. Dr Christina Stanley, a senior lecturer at the University of Chester, describes switching to it in Microsoft Teams sessions where students would not speak or use the chat: "Suddenly, responses flooded in; from having no responses at all in the chat, I instantly had about half the class responding using Vevox."

Surveys and other content. Self-paced surveys can be scheduled to close automatically, and presenters can show images, text slides and video between polls so a whole session runs from one screen. Attendance tracking records when participants join and leave a session.

Participants can stay fully anonymous or be asked for their names; "A paid plan is required to view participant names in relation to poll responses."

AI quiz generator

The AI quiz generator converts "a quiz topic into a ready to use quiz instantly." The site says it "programmes the polls to include correct answers, answer descriptions and suggested content," and the AI question helper also writes "plausible incorrect options" and lets the host "set the difficulty level." The same AI creates polls and surveys. The FAQ is clear on cost: "You can make full use of the AI quiz generator on any Vevox plan," including a free account.

Integrations

Vevox lists integrations with Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, Zoom, Google Slides, Webex, and the LMS platforms Brightspace, Moodle, Canvas and Blackboard. The PowerPoint add-in runs polls inside a presentation, and slides can also be embedded in Vevox's present view. Event apps and websites can embed the participant app, by dynamic URL or iframe. A university moving from another student response system will note the FAQ about Turning Point SRS: existing Turning Point PowerPoint polling questions "can be imported and converted into Vevox PowerPoint polling questions in a single click." Account data is also available through a Data API, for which "Charges may apply."

Plans and prices

A free account is the starting point ("Sign up for a free AI enabled account"), and the pricing section covers education plans, business plans, enterprise and institution plans, a free pilot scheme and one-time event plans. For universities, the site advertises "FREE campus-wide access. Pilot Vevox Today. Limited Slots!" Under user management, the plan comparison lists "Active user plans," which Vevox calls "Our unique fair pricing system": "Open access is provided to the Vevox platform, only those actively using it will be charged for."

The one-time event plans are priced in USD and last 7 days:

  • One time standard, $195. Up to 3 users and up to 1500 participants per session, all polling types, Microsoft Teams and event integrations, Q&A moderation and labels, branding, and help site, live chat and online support.
  • One time large, $675. Up to 10 users and up to 5000 simultaneous participants, plus a pre-event setup or training session and phone and email support.

Larger organizations can "Contact the team to increase to up to 100,000 participants," and the organization-level features include SSO, simultaneous sessions, platform defaults, usage analytics and professional services.

On refunds, the FAQ says a customer who upgrades from a free plan and changes their mind "can have a full refund up to 30 days after your purchase date." All paid plans include "a 30 minute personal coaching session with a Vevox expert." Individual plans can be paid online by credit card, and organizations can pay through an account manager or by invoice and bank transfer. Vevox says it "will always consider" requests for charity and non-profit pricing.

Support, security and partners

Support includes the Voxbot help bot, an online help site "24/7," a support team by phone and email on higher plans, live masterclasses for new users and admins, and premium support and SLA options. The pricing page promises "no nasty security surprises or data collection loopholes," and the footer links to pages on data and security, accessibility and ISO certification.

For larger events, the Vevox Partner Network is "a global fleet of fully 'Vevox certified' professionals" who handle more complex AV setups. Partners get product training, early access to resources, priority technical support and a referral scheme.

What users say

The pricing page reports "an average score of 4.7 on multiple review platforms" from "2000+ reviews," and lists awards for ease of use, customer service and overall experience, and features including AI quiz and integrations. Brokk Toggerson, a physics lecturer at the University of Massachusetts, says: "I teach courses of over 300 people and this provides a great way to get feedback from my class above and beyond the basic multiple choice. The word cloud function, in particular, is great as it allows for a class-built summary." Andrew Straw of Cedarville University calls it a "Great option for use with peer instruction pedagogy."

Who it suits

Vevox suits university lecturers with large classes who want anonymous questions and quick checks in the lecture or in Teams sessions, and departments that want a campus-wide tool connected to their LMS and PowerPoint. Trainers and event organizers can use the business plans or buy a 7-day event plan for a single conference.

Two limits are worth knowing: seeing participant names next to their responses requires a paid plan, and running more than one survey at the same time requires an Institution or Enterprise plan.
