Mentimeter
Tap a star to rate
Mentimeter is an interactive presentation platform: a presenter, teacher or trainer builds slides with live polls, quizzes, word clouds, Q&A and surveys, and the audience answers from their own phones or laptops while the results appear on screen. Participants join with a link or a presentation code and need no account. It is built for classrooms and lecture halls as well as meetings, trainings, workshops and conferences, in the room, remote or both. The homepage says Mentimeter is "Trusted by 500+ million users worldwide", and its Enterprise page shows an average rating of 4.76 from 671 reviews.
Building a presentation
There are three ways to start: choose a template, create from scratch, or prompt the AI. The AI Menti Creator builds an interactive presentation from a prompt "in seconds", and Menti AI, included even on the free plan, can "Create full Mentis, get question suggestions, and group live responses". The homepage names the core question types: Word Cloud, which visualizes input in real time; Quiz, with set correct answers; Poll, where participants vote on set options; and Open Ended, which collects and displays free responses. The features page adds Q&A, surveys, scales and multiple choice, and the plan comparison counts 23 slide types. A quiz works differently from the other types: it is a competition, and the results of all quiz questions in a presentation add up to one final winner.
Existing material can come along. Paid plans import PowerPoint, Keynote or PDF files and let the presenter add interactive questions between the slides, and slides from PowerPoint Web, Google Slides and Miro can be embedded. Ready-made templates cover quizzes, live polls, surveys, Q&A sessions and word clouds.
In the classroom and in training
For teaching, the features page promises to "Make learning stick": reinforce key ideas with quizzes and quick checks using multiple choice, scales and open-ended questions, "Switch to self-paced when needed", and export results to keep progress visible. Responses can be anonymous, which the site presents as the way to get honest input, and AI grouping helps a teacher spot trends in open answers and decide which questions to take first. Carla el Khoury, an Arabic instructor quoted on the homepage, puts it simply: "Mentimeter helps me tailor activities to my students' needs."
Universities feature among the customer stories. The University of Greenwich "replaced passive learning with tech-driven, active moments engaging every student", and UTS uses Mentimeter "from lecture halls to staff meetings".
For workplace training, the Enterprise page describes a sequence: a pre-training survey to find knowledge gaps, then polls, scales and quizzes to keep people learning together, live grouping and summarizing of responses to shape the session, and collaborative folders and shared templates to turn feedback into training material. Leona Holzbecher, learning and change management manager at Siemens Healthineers, says: "I can see how many people are engaging and spontaneously adapt my agenda." Other stories come from Deloitte Germany, the NHS and Implement Consulting Group, and the homepage reports results from its case studies, such as "97% Participants reported improved learning outcomes in corporate trainings" and "96% Participants felt included in communication and meetings".
Integrations
Mentimeter connects to four learning management systems. Canvas and Blackboard are described as "Anonymous by default, gradebook sync when needed", Moodle and Brightspace are listed alongside, and the integrations page says teachers can "Engage your students and track attendance where your course already lives". Beyond the LMS, Mentimeter runs inside PowerPoint presentations, in Microsoft Teams meetings and in Zoom, and it also works in any browser.
Plans and prices
The plans page lists four tiers:
- Free: Menti AI, 50 participants per month plus unlimited participants once per month, multiple question types, and insights from each session's results.
- Basic: unlimited participants with no monthly restriction, import of existing slides, and export of results to Excel or PDF, priced per presenter per month, billed yearly, excluding tax.
- Pro: everything in Basic plus more design and branding options, workspace collaboration to share presentations, themes and templates, co-creation of slides, and Mentimote, which lets the presenter control a live presentation and moderate Q&A from a phone.
- Enterprise: custom pricing with single sign-on, participant verification, SCIM license management, tailored onboarding, workspace insights and custom data retention. The Enterprise page says it is designed for larger teams of 10+ presenters and comes with a dedicated customer success manager, and organizations with 100+ licenses get additional security features. Its security section lists ISO, describing an information security management system (ISMS), and links to a Trust Center.
The participant limit counts everyone engaged across a month's presentations and resets on the day of the month the account was opened. Mentimeter never stops participants joining an ongoing presentation when the limit is reached; the presenter gets an 8-hour grace period to finish before new presentations wait for the reset. Basic and Pro are sold as yearly subscriptions only, with a one-off conference plan for single events and discounted pricing for educators. Payment is by card or PayPal, and Pro and Enterprise can be paid by bank transfer, with Net-30 terms on Pro in selected countries. The FAQ promises a full refund to anyone who cancels "within fourteen (14) days from the day you purchased" and has not yet used Mentimeter at a live event. Help comes through the help center and support by email, with priority support and custom onboarding on the higher plans.
Who it suits and who it does not
Mentimeter suits a teacher or lecturer who wants quick checks for understanding, anonymous questions and word clouds in a lesson, especially in a school or university that already runs Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle or Brightspace. It suits trainers who want to survey a group before a session and adapt as they go, and conference organizers who need an audience of any size to vote and ask questions. The free plan is enough to try it with a small class or workshop.
It is less suited to a teacher who presents to large groups every week on the free plan, since the 50-participant monthly allowance goes quickly; Basic is the step up. Because Basic and Pro are annual subscriptions, a one-time event is better served by the conference plan. And Mentimeter is an engagement and feedback tool rather than a course platform: lessons, grades and enrollment stay in the school's LMS, with Mentimeter running inside it.
