Quizalize is a game-based quiz platform for classroom teachers. A teacher builds or picks a quiz, students join with a class code and play it as a game on their own devices, and the teacher gets a report on what each student knows. The home page describes the product as "More than just a quiz game - a complete learning ecosystem" and says it is "Trusted by 100,000+ teachers worldwide." It also gives these usage figures: 250k teachers joined in the last 2 years, 200k student quiz plays each month, 250m+ questions answered since launch, and users in 180 countries.
The company states its mission as helping "teachers make a difference to each and every student," and the product is built around formative assessment: quick, frequent checks that tell a teacher who needs help with what.
Building a quiz
A teacher can "Build a quiz from scratch or browse our library of ready-made content covering all subjects and grade levels." The site says quizzes can be imported "from existing content" and that there are "thousands of ready-made quizzes" to choose from, with content "aligned with educational standards." One teacher quoted on the home page, Karen Z., a 5th grade teacher, says: "It took me less than 3 minutes to convert a boring Google Quiz into a fun and engaging Quizalize Quiz for my 5th-grade class."
AI quiz generation is built in. The free plan includes 3 AI-generated quizzes per month and the Standard plan has unlimited AI quiz creation. Standard also adds 8 question types, while the free plan is limited to multiple choice.
Quizalize Notebook
The newest part of the product is Quizalize Notebook, introduced on the home page as "From teaching idea to classroom-ready in one workspace." The teacher brings their own materials, asks for what they need, and Notebook creates "quizzes, lessons, slides and more." The product tour lists what it does: build a targeted quiz, edit a quiz by prompt, find learning gaps, give a quiz to the class, ask questions across sources, research with citations, add contextual images, plan a lesson, create slides, make a worksheet, generate an audio overview, play the quiz as a student, build a mind map, write a study guide, add a web link and bring in a YouTube lesson. The tagline underneath is "Built for teachers · Grounded in your materials · Editable at every step," and there is a "Try Notebook free" button.
The games
Every quiz can run as "a classic quiz" or as one of a set of browser-based classroom games with "no installs, no extra hardware." Students play on "any device - phones, tablets, laptops."
- Blockerzz offers "Minecraft-inspired 3D gameplay that runs instantly in any browser and rewards correct answers."
- Goalzz has teams "advance the ball by winning rapid-fire quiz battles," which the site calls "perfect for whole-class energy."
- Hoopzz is a big-screen basketball game with solo and team modes that "keep every student answering while the class watches live scores."
- Battlerzz runs "2D team-based battles that reward accuracy with cinematic attacks and immediate mastery insight."
The free plan includes the leaderboard game mode, and the team games sit on Standard. The site's own summary of the effect: "Students compete, collaborate, and learn without realizing they're studying."
Tracking, mastery and differentiation
This is where Quizalize separates itself from a plain quiz game. The home page puts it plainly: "Students log in (not anonymous)," so a teacher can follow each student's progress over time rather than one game at a time. Teachers "Tag questions with learning objectives" and "See exactly which skills each student has mastered - not just quiz scores," which the site calls mastery by standard.
Auto-differentiation lets a teacher "Assign different follow-up resources based on scores," so students who struggled get support and stronger students get harder material. The site describes this as "Automatically adapt difficulty for each student." Reports go "Beyond 'who got it right'" to show gaps and growth, and Standard adds AI-powered student reports, mastery dashboards and student report cards.
Classes are built in. Teachers "Create classes with fixed codes," see class averages, compare performance and "manage students like a real LMS." For schools that already use a classroom system, Quizalize syncs "with Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, or your LMS," and "Results automatically push to your grade book."
Teachers on the home page describe the reporting as the main draw. Chasity C., a special education teacher, says "It gives my special education resource kiddos a chance to remediate area of weakness" and shows her what they know and where they have difficulty. Aaron H. says it helps him "quickly identify stronger students and weaker students, as well as concepts at the class level that students struggle with."
Plans
The pricing section is headed "Simple, Transparent Pricing" and has two plans plus school quotes.
Quizalize Basic is free "Forever," with no credit card required. It includes 20 students per class, 1 class, 5 saved quizzes, multiple choice questions, the leaderboard game mode and 3 AI-generated quizzes per month.
Quizalize Standard, marked "Most Popular," is priced per month and billed annually, with "50% off today" shown on the plan. It includes 200 students per class, unlimited classes, unlimited saved quizzes, 8 question types, the team games (the plan lists "Goalzz, Hoozz, Blockerzz+"), differentiated follow-on activities, unlimited AI quiz creation, AI-powered student reports, tagging questions to standards, mastery dashboards and student report cards. Teachers can "Start 30-Day Trial."
School quotes are for schools buying for several teachers: "Request School Quote" promises "tailored pricing & proposal PDF for leadership."
Results the company reports
Quizalize cites three schools. Round Rock ISD "found that students in classes using Quizalize for Middle School Science scored 8-10% higher in end-of-year state standardized tests." Mooresville Middle School found that "the achievement gap in quarterly test scores for students from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds reduced from 33.4% to 25.4% in Grade 7 Science," which the site headlines as a 12% reduction. Bournemouth and Poole College "found student pass marks increased by 25% for their Applied Plumbing course." These are figures from individual schools as reported by the company.
The resources section points to test preparation material for specific exams: Texas STAAR impact data, STAAR released tests, NYSED released tests and KS2 Year 6 SAT past papers. The legal section includes a COPPA Policy alongside the privacy policy and terms.
Who it suits
Quizalize suits classroom teachers who want quizzes students actually look forward to and who care about what happens after the game: which standards each student has mastered and what to assign next. The free Basic plan is enough to try the games with one class of up to 20, but a teacher with several classes or a larger group will need Standard, which also brings the team games, mastery dashboards and differentiation. Schools that want the same tool across several classrooms can request a quote with a proposal for leadership.
The main caveat is the free plan's limits. One class, 20 students and 5 saved quizzes make it a trial more than a long-term option for a full teaching load. Students also need a device each to play.
