What Wiingy is

Wiingy is an online tutoring marketplace where learners choose a tutor, take a free trial lesson, and then pay per lesson for live 1-on-1 sessions. Its blog describes it as "a tutoring marketplace that connects school students, college students, and young adults with over 4,500+ expert-vetted tutors for coding, math, science, computer science, AP, test-pre, language learning, music and 350+ subjects." The same post says "Over 20,000 students have used Wiingy for 1-on-1 tutoring, homework help, assignment help, language learning, homeschool tutoring, and test prep," and that students and parents "have consistently rated the Wiingy experience as 4.8 out of 5." The home page adds "Students from 20+ countries."

The home page header sums up the buying terms in four labels: "Free Trial," "15-days refund," "Free tutor swap" and "No cancel fee."

Subjects

The search box on the home page suggests the range: singing, math, Spanish, English, guitar, French, piano, yoga, physics, chemistry, biology, violin, ESL, coding, economics, architecture, AP, SAT, ACT and calculus. Music and languages get as much space as school subjects; the home page opens with "Singing lessons with top voice coaches" before moving to math, Spanish and English tutors.

The blog fills in the academic side, with tutoring for calculus 2, pre-calculus, statistics, algebra and geometry, and says its math tutors "specialize in Olympiad-level and competitive exam prep." Spanish tutors on the home page describe conversational Spanish, Spanish literature, business Spanish, pronunciation coaching and cultural immersion, with classes for children, beginners and adults, and several say they are comfortable teaching students with special needs. English tutors on the home page list SAT Verbal, ACT English, IELTS, AP English Language and Composition, ESL, business English and job-interview preparation among their specialties.

Tutors and how they are chosen

Wiingy says it screens hard. The blog states that tutors "undergo an intensive assessment process that includes interviews, mock lessons, and subject specific assessment," and that "Fewer than 3% of applicants pass this assessment to become Wiingy tutors." Badges on tutor cards include "Super Tutor" and "Student Favourite."

Each tutor card shows a name and subject, a self-written introduction, the free-trial length, a star rating and a review count. The examples on the home page show what that means in practice: a South African English teacher with ten years in Asia who holds a 120-hour TESOL and a 168-hour Level 5 TEFL certificate; an English teacher with CELTA and TESOL who also teaches AP English; a post-doctoral sociologist who teaches ESL and business English; a PhD student teaching math; Spanish tutors who teach conversational, business and literature classes; and singing coaches who work on pitch, harmony and stage presence. Ratings shown run from about 4.2 to 5, and most cards carry well over a hundred reviews.

Lessons, trials and AI tools

The first lesson is a free trial. Tutor cards on the home page show "FREE TRIAL / 55 min," and the blog says tutors "offer a free trial lesson where you can meet the tutor and get a sense of their teaching style before committing to paid lessons." After that, students book individual lessons; the blog says "there are no minimum package requirements or yearly subscriptions; you can sign up and start learning with just 1 lesson."

Wiingy adds an AI layer called CoTutor. The home page says "AI converts every lesson into bite-sized learning modules," with labels for a summary, a podcast and "Key Learnings." The blog describes CoTutor as "Wiingy's AI-powered learning companion" that "converts live lessons into podcasts, summaries, and quizzes," and in its summary as an "AI application" that "turns live lessons into engaging podcasts & review tools." The home page shows what that looks like with a sample from a singing lesson titled "Vocal Resonance and Mix Voice Techniques for Singing." Its summary says the session "focused on vocal warm-up exercises and techniques for singing louder and accessing higher notes without strain," that the student began applying them to a song, and that the tutor "assigned practice exercises and scheduled the next session." For a learner, that means a written record of each lesson and the homework set, without taking notes during the session. The site's menu also links to "Wiingy AI," "Wiingy AI Experts" and remote AI jobs, which sit apart from the tutoring itself.

Prices and guarantees

Wiingy publishes a starting price rather than a price list. The blog says "Lessons on the Wiingy platform start at just $15 per hour," and repeats "pay-as-you-go tutoring starting at $15/hr, with no long-term commitments." The blog's list of benefits adds "Anytime help: Get support for homework or coursework 24/7" and "Flexible scheduling: Choose your tutor and session time," and its pros for Wiingy include "High-quality tutors at affordable prices, personally interviewed" and a "Pay-per-lesson model, no commitment required."

The guarantees are the main selling points. Under what Wiingy calls its Perfect Match Guarantee, a student who is "unsatisfied with your tutor" gets "a free replacement tutor," which the home page shortens to "Free tutor swap." The home page also promises a "15-days refund" and "No cancel fee." A Chegg comparison post on the blog describes the refund as "a no-questions-asked refund policy valid within 10 days of lesson purchase," and the post notes that its pricing information was taken from the Wiingy website at an earlier date; the home page's 15 days is the current headline term.

For tutors

Wiingy also recruits. The site menu has "Become a tutor," "Online tutoring jobs" and "Our tutors" pages, and tutors who pass the assessment build a public profile with their introduction, specialties, free-trial offer and reviews. The profiles on the home page show tutors from South Africa, Buenos Aires and elsewhere teaching students across countries, so the roster is international rather than tied to one school system.

Who Wiingy suits

Wiingy suits school and college students, and young adults, who want a vetted 1-on-1 tutor online without a subscription: a high schooler working on AP calculus or SAT prep, a college student stuck in statistics, an adult preparing for IELTS or a job interview in English, or someone taking singing, guitar or piano lessons. The free trial and the free tutor swap make it easy to try several tutors before paying for a run of lessons, and the low starting rate fits a tight budget.

It suits learners who like to review lessons afterward, since CoTutor turns each session into summaries, podcasts and quizzes. It is a marketplace of individual tutors rather than a fixed course, so the structure of the lessons depends on the tutor a learner chooses.
