What UrbanPro is

UrbanPro is an Indian tutoring marketplace where students and parents find a personal tutor or a training institute, book a free demo class, and then pay for regular classes, online or offline. It is run by ThinkVidya Learning Pvt Ltd, and its footer carries the line "Made in India. Made for you." The site describes itself as "India's largest network of most trusted tutors and institutes" and says that "Over 55 lakh students rely on UrbanPro.com, to fulfill their learning requirements across 1,000+ categories."

The headline figures on the home page are "7.5 Lakh+ Verified Tutors," "55 Lakh+ Students" and "4 Lakh+ Reviews." The site's own summary is that "parents, and students can compare multiple Tutors and Institutes and choose the one that best suits their requirements," and that "More than 7.5 lakh verified Tutors and Institutes are helping millions of students every day and growing their tutoring business on UrbanPro.com."

Its main market is India: the popular-city list runs Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Gurgaon, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Noida. The home page footer also lists Canada, USA, Sri Lanka, UAE and Australia, and the tutor sign-up page invites teachers to teach "Students across India and globally."

What learners can find

The category menus show how wide the catalog runs:

• School and college tuition: Nursery-KG, Class 1 to 5, and Class 6 through Class 12 tuition, plus college tuition for BTech, BCom, BBA, BSc and Engineering Diploma. Subject pages cover mathematics, English, science, physics and Hindi, and the site links NCERT solutions and the CBSE syllabus.
• Languages: spoken English, German, French, Spanish and Japanese; Indian languages such as Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Marathi; and Chinese, Arabic, Russian, Italian and Sanskrit.
• Exam coaching: for study abroad, IELTS, PTE Academic, GRE, GMAT and TOEFL; for study in India, engineering entrance, CA, MBA entrance, medical entrance and CET coaching; and for government and other exams, IBPS, UPSC, Staff Selection Commission, bank clerical and UGC NET coaching.
• IT courses: Python, Java, .Net, C++ and C, Microsoft Excel, SAP, Selenium, Angular.JS, Amazon Web Services, PHP, JavaScript, Adobe Photoshop, DevOps and Data Science, with a separate list of software training institutes.
• Hobbies: dance, Hindustani and Carnatic music, guitar, keyboard, violin, piano, singing, yoga, cooking, photography, drawing, painting, makeup, handwriting and personality development training.

The kids page shows the long tail. Under "Online Classes for Kids" it offers handwriting, choreography, summer camp, Rubik's cube training, paper quilling, graphology, soap making, aeromodelling, archery and bag making, and says learners can "Select from 26,971 Online Online Classes for Kids."

How booking works

The home page sets out three steps: "Book a Free Demo Class with a Tutor," "Attend the Demo class as scheduled," and "Use UrbanPro SecurePay to pay and start your Classes." Booking the free class requires verifying a mobile number by one-time password. A learner who would rather not browse can use "Post your Learning Need" so tutors come to them, and a short form on category pages asks what the learner is looking for and where they are.

Each listing card on a category page shows the tutor's name, locality and city, a review count, years of experience, labels such as "Verified," "Top Tutor" or "Featured," the hourly rate, the classes taught and a short self-description, with a "Book a FREE Demo" or "Contact" button. On the kids page, one handwriting tutor offers "A free introductory demo session of 15 to 20 minutes," which gives a sense of what a demo looks like in practice. Students can write reviews, and the home page shows recent ones, such as a Class 10 tuition review and one for a Sanskrit teacher described as having "more than 30 yrs experience in teaching the language."

Classes run in either format. The kids page summarizes the category's class format as "Online or Offline classes," and the home page headline invites learners to join live online or offline classes. There is a UrbanPro Learners App, which the home page pitches with "Manage your Class Schedule, Learn on the go." The menus also link to Paid Courses, Free Classes, an Ask & Answer section and short lessons posted by tutors.

What it costs

Rates are set by each tutor and shown per hour. On the kids page, listed rates run from ₹80 per hour for a dance tutor and ₹100 for choreography, through ₹200 to ₹500 per hour for most handwriting, Rubik's cube and graphology tutors, up to ₹2000 per hour for one handwriting tutor. The page's summary box gives an "Average price" of "INR 450/hr" for the category and confirms "Free Demo Class" as "Available." Its FAQ explains that the fee "depends on the tutor," naming experience, education, location and the number of classes, and points to an UrbanPro tuition fee calculator.

The home page advertises a "Referral Discount: Get ₹ 250 off when you make a payment to start classes." Payment for classes goes through UrbanPro SecurePay.

For tutors and institutes

Creating a profile is free. The sign-up page says tutors can "Upload Photos, Portfolio, Certificates, Add Description, Qualifications, Achievements to Help students Discover You," then "Use world class tools for FREE to teach Students across India and globally," with "Training support and Marketing support to get steady stream of Students to teach." On income it says tutors "Earn handsomely based on the number of Students you teach," and quotes a monthly earnings range for its top tutor partners rather than a typical figure.

One limit matters to training businesses: the sign-up form currently says, "Sorry, we are unable to create new Institute profiles at the moment. If you are also an Individual Tutor, you could signup as an Individual." Existing institutes still appear in listings, such as a graphology institute in Mysore on the kids page.

Tutor testimonials on the same page come from a VBA trainer ("Excellent enquiries from UrbanPro. I am getting Students from Different universities outside India, and different Multinational companies."), an IELTS trainer, an IT trainer, a language school, a film making workshop and an IELTS coaching class that praises its "user-friendly interface, customer friendly executives & reasonable pricing plans." The site publishes no prices for those tutor plans.

Who UrbanPro suits

UrbanPro suits Indian families and adult learners who want to compare many local or online tutors on price, experience and reviews before committing, and who value a free demo before paying. It is strongest for the things its menus list in depth: CBSE and ICSE school tuition, Indian entrance and government exam coaching, study-abroad tests such as IELTS and GRE, IT skills, Indian and foreign languages, and a very wide range of hobby classes for children.

Because each tutor sets the rate and the method, quality and price vary from listing to listing, and the learner does the choosing. It suits independent tutors in India looking for leads, while new institutes cannot currently create a profile. Learners outside India will find tutors who teach online, but the catalog, prices in rupees and exam focus are built around the Indian market.
