Tutero is an Australian education company with two products under one name. Tutero Tutoring matches students from Prep to Year 12 with a one-to-one online tutor, managed by an account manager and paid lesson by lesson. Tutero AI is a platform for teachers and schools that builds curriculum-aligned lessons, worksheets and assessments with AI. The tutoring service is for parents and students; the AI platform is for teachers. The home page says Tutero powered its first lesson in 2022 and counts 252745 lessons since, the tutoring page says it is "trusted by over 4,000 Australian parents every week," and the FAQ gives its head office as Melbourne. The site also has a US version.
Tutoring: what a family gets
The tutoring page promises "1:1 teaching from Australia's best tutors," for every year level from Year 1 to Year 12 and for the senior certificates: HSC, VCE, QCE, WACE, SACE, TCE and the IB (the footer adds NTCET). Named subjects are maths, English, science, chemistry, physics, biology, economics and French. There are also pages for learning needs, covering ADHD, dyslexia, special needs and homeschool tutoring, and the reviews include parents of children with autism.
Matching is done by the company. The "education team handpicks the perfect tutor for each student," every family gets "a dedicated account manager from day one," and the family can change tutors at any time. The tutor side describes the TutorMatch software, which it says weighs 25+ criteria for compatibility. A student gets a dedicated tutor for each subject, lessons in an interactive lesson space, and access to "thousands of engaging resources." Tutors use diagnostic tools to find gaps and plan lessons aligned with the Australian Curriculum. After each lesson the tutor writes a report, which parents read in the Tutero app.
Lessons are online; the tutor recruitment page says "Sessions are completed online." The tutoring page lists 16 cities from Melbourne and Sydney to Townsville, Cairns and Ballarat, and says the service reaches students anywhere in Australia.
Tutor quality
Tutero makes several selectivity claims. The tutoring page says it reviews "over 30,000 tutor applications each year" and accepts only "the top 1.3%," while the menu elsewhere says "Top 2% in Australia." It also says "Every tutor completes extensive training, a teaching exam, and passes the WWCC process." The recruitment page adds that tutors are "typically university students or teachers," must hold a valid employee WWCC or Blue Card, and must commit to at least 10 hours a week across 3 or more days (elsewhere 8+ hours in peak hours), every week of the school year, for at least 18 months. It counts 600+ tutors with a 4.9 average rating.
Pricing and terms for families
Tutero publishes no hourly price for families on these pages; the call to action is "Request a Custom Quote," and the menu links to a pricing page for families. The terms are clear, though: "You're only charged after each lesson is complete," payments go through Stripe, and there are "No lock-ins. No upfront payments." One parent review says lessons could be rescheduled at the last minute without being charged.
On results, the FAQ says that in 2022, "98.1% of students using our online tutoring services reported a boost in their school confidence," and the menu shows a 98.1% success rate and 2,000+ success stories. Customer support, the FAQ says, works seven days a week and aims to reply within an hour. Reviews from parents mention quick responses, a son moving from a D to a B in maths, and HSC chemistry, maths and physics tutoring.
Tutero AI for teachers and schools
Tutero AI is described as "the AI platform for teaching" and an "AI Co-Teacher." It produces worksheets ("Differentiated & Printable"), lessons ("Curriculum Aligned"), assessments ("Diagnostic & Summative") and interactive documents, and lets teachers edit any of them with AI. Teachers "Describe what you need in plain language" and get "Interactive resources in 60 seconds," tailored to their students' needs. The home page lays out the method in four steps: diagnostic testing to find gaps, curriculum alignment, custom resources for each student, and a personalized learning path. It is pitched especially at mathematics, with the line "Drive student outcomes in mathematics." Teachers can sign up for free, and there is a separate pricing page for schools and a Tutero Pro tier, without prices on these pages.
Teacher reviews on the home page describe the result. A high school math teacher says "I can prep a differentiated lesson in 5 minutes"; an elementary teacher likes the "mild, medium, and spicy structure" of the questions; a middle school teacher emails worksheets to students. Case studies describe St. Genevieve and the Covenant School using Tutero to cut teacher workload and raise engagement.
For tutors
The recruitment page says tutors earn "between $30 - $45 per hour," starting according to credentials and experience and rising with experience and performance badges, and are paid weekly and automatically. No previous tutoring experience is required. The FAQ says the process takes around 2 weeks: the application is reviewed within 3 days, a video interview is recorded with Loom within 3 days, then training modules and a profile. Tutors manage students, schedule and earnings in a tutor portal, use Tutero's maths platform with adaptive diagnostic tests, and get targeted resources for non-maths subjects. They need a computer, webcam and fast internet.
Who it suits and who it does not
Tutero Tutoring suits Australian parents who want a managed service rather than a marketplace: a tutor chosen for their child, an account manager, reports after every lesson and no upfront commitment. It fits primary students who need foundations, secondary students heading into HSC, VCE or another senior certificate, and families of children with ADHD, dyslexia or other learning needs. Students who prefer a tutor in the same room will not find that here, since lessons are online, and families who want to see a price before talking to anyone will need to request a quote.
Tutero AI suits classroom teachers, especially in maths, who want differentiated worksheets, diagnostic tests and lesson materials generated quickly and aligned to the Australian Curriculum, and schools that want a platform for their staff. Its free teacher sign-up lets a teacher try it alone before a school commits.
