Treasure Learning

Tap a star to rate

Treasure Learning is an online tutoring marketplace run from Hong Kong. Students browse tutor profiles, book a paid trial and then buy single lessons or bundles; tutors, which the site calls edu-creators, set their own rates and keep a share of each sale. It serves learners of any age, from children to adults, and also tutors looking for a place to sell lessons. The About section says the company was "Founded in 2022 in a humble Hong Kong community" to give grassroots families affordable tutoring, and that "Since 2025, we have been expanding globally to connect students and tutors worldwide." The home page calls it "Hong Kong's No.1 learning platform," and says it is licensed by the Hong Kong Education Bureau; the footer gives the school registration number as 583022 and an office address in Yuen Long, New Territories.

What a learner gets

The catalog is grouped into four areas on the home page. Language courses cover English, Chinese, Cantonese, Spanish, French and Japanese. Coding and computing covers AI development, website development, game development, Scratch programming, coding skills and graphic design. Professional development covers digital marketing, business skills, accounting, economics, career coaching and psychology. STEM covers technology, engineering, mathematics, chemistry, biology and physics. Exam preparation is listed for the HKDSE, the IB, GCSE and A-Level, and tutor profiles add others, such as HSK Chinese and the KET English exam on one profile, and IB History with the extended essay on another. The menu also links to the company's own Native English Centre, and the support page mentions writing packages.

Students find a tutor through the directory. Each card shows what the tutor teaches, which languages they speak and at what level, where they are based and an hourly price, with a "Verified" badge. The featured tutors on the home page are based in Hong Kong, mainland China, Ireland, the United States, Indonesia, Spain and the United Kingdom. A full profile adds an introduction (often in both English and Chinese), specialties, a calendar, the date the tutor joined, counts of students and lessons taught, and reviews from students. The site can be switched between English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, and prices between HKD and USD.

The home page promises a personalized match: the company says it matches students with tutors who fit their learning needs and goals. If a tutor is not the right fit, "students can request a replacement or a refund", with refund requests handled by the company's team.

Prices, trials and bundles

Tutors set their own hourly rates. On the home page, featured tutors charge from 250.00 to 500.00 HKD$ per hour, and a science tutor shown on one profile page charges HKD$ 575.00 an hour.

One profile shows how booking works in practice. The tutor charges HKD$ 280.00 an hour; a 30-minute lesson costs HKD$ 140.00, and the first booking is a 30-minute trial at 50% off, HKD$ 70.00. Bundles carry volume discounts: 10 lessons of 30 minutes for HKD$ 1,330.00 instead of HKD$ 1,400.00 (5% off), 20 for HKD$ 2,520.00 (10% off) and 40 for HKD$ 4,760.00 (15% off), with matching 60-minute bundles of 5, 10 and 20 lessons at the same totals. That tutor shows 30 students and 82 lessons, with 10 reviews.

Trials are never free. The tutor page sets out a "Paid Trials Guarantee": "100% of trial classes on our platform are paid. No exceptions." The home page lists payment by VISA, MasterCard, Alipay, WeChat Pay and local bank transfers in Hong Kong, and the tutor page says students can pay in their local currency by major credit cards, instant bank transfers or popular international mobile wallets. The home page describes the commission structure as fair, with "No hidden fees".

For tutors

The becoming-a-tutor page pitches Treasure Learning as "an EdTech incubator built for established educators, content creators, and entrepreneurial teachers," and opens with "Stop giving away 30% to legacy platforms" and "Stop teaching free trial classes." Joining has four steps: create a tutor profile, upload a 2 minute introduction video, get approved (the team says it will reach out within 5 business days), and start earning.

Pay comes in two tiers. In the Creator Tier, a tutor who brings existing students, shares a custom discount code on social channels or secures bulk corporate orders keeps 80% of the revenue, while the platform handles tech, hosting and payment processing. In the Platform Tier, for new students who find the tutor through the marketplace, the tutor keeps "a flat 68%." The company says it is an official PayPal Business Partner in Hong Kong and pays tutors through PayPal Payouts, in batches, in the tutor's local currency. The support page covers how to change tutors, how tutors get paid, how to get more students, and a protocol for handling new bookings.

Reviews and support

Reviews on the sample profile come from parents and adult learners, in English, Traditional Chinese with Cantonese phrasing, and Simplified Chinese. One parent writes that "We purchased 5 lessons with Flora and will definitely schedule more", and that the tutor adjusted materials from Simplified to Traditional Chinese for the child; others describe children gaining confidence speaking English and improving their Chinese reading and writing.

Support runs by email and by phone on two Hong Kong numbers, with WhatsApp recommended for booking enquiries. Operating hours are Monday to Friday, 11:00 to 19:00 Hong Kong time, and messages outside those hours are answered as soon as possible.

Who it suits and who it does not

Treasure Learning suits families in Hong Kong and Chinese-speaking learners elsewhere who want to choose a tutor themselves, see the hourly rate up front and try a short paid lesson first. It is strongest in languages (English and Chinese especially, plus Cantonese), local and international exams (HKDSE, IB, GCSE, A-Level) and children's coding. Paying through Alipay or WeChat Pay and switching the site to Chinese will matter to many of its users. The replacement-or-refund promise and the bundle discounts reward committing once a good tutor is found.

It is less suited to a learner who wants a free trial, since every trial is paid, or one who needs help outside Hong Kong office hours from the support team. Many newer tutor profiles show no students or lessons yet, so the reviews that help judge a tutor exist only for the busier ones. For tutors, the 68% and 80% tiers and the PayPal payouts make it a straightforward place to sell lessons, especially for those who can bring their own students.
