What SabiTeach Is
SabiTeach is an online tutoring marketplace from Nigeria. Students search a directory of tutors, open a profile, pay for a lesson and attend it online; tutors register, build a profile and accept session requests. The company, SabiTeach E-learning, gives its address as Lagos State, Nigeria, and the site's description promises "Over 7000 experienced online teachers in Nigeria" for private tutoring, exam prep and assignment help.
The site works in English and lets visitors switch the currency between Nigerian naira, GBP and USD. That, together with a location filter that lists Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States, shows the platform is built mainly for Nigerian families but also for students and tutors elsewhere, including Nigerians abroad.
How Learning Works
The home page lays out three steps: Search, Book, Learn. A student can search hundreds of teachers, the home page says, and narrow them by price, language, proficiency, subject and location. They then go through the teacher's profile "and book a lesson after making the payment." Finally they log in and attend the online lesson.
The tutor search is the heart of the product, and its filters are detailed:
- Subject, from a long list that runs from school subjects to professional skills
- Price, on a range that runs from ₦10.00 to ₦60,000.00
- Availability, by day of the week and by four-hour block across the 24-hour day
- Location, teacher gender and the language the teacher speaks
- Curriculum type: Montessori, American, British, West African, Canadian, South African and East African
- Teaching level (beginner, upper intermediate, advanced) and lesson type (online or hybrid)
- Test preparation and learner level
For families who would rather not search alone, every tutor listing page invites them to chat with a tutor matching team for something personalized. An Ask an Expert section sits in the main menu.
Subjects and Exams
The subject list is unusually wide. It covers the Nigerian school curriculum in depth: mathematics, further and additional mathematics, English, literature in English, physics, chemistry, biology, basic science, basic technology, agricultural science, government, civic education, economics, commerce, financial accounting, book keeping, geography, history, Christian religious studies, home economics and social studies. It includes Nigerian languages (Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba) as well as French, Spanish, Mandarin and Arabic.
Beyond school subjects it lists skills and enrichment: coding, web development, computer science, cyber security, data analysis with Excel, SQL, Power BI and Tableau, graphic design, Adobe Illustrator, animation, video editing, photography, content writing, public speaking, music, chess, Rubik's cube, speech therapy, phonics and diction, and professional subjects such as ICAN, CompTIA Network+, financial analysis and life coach training.
The exam filter names the tests West African and international students prepare for: WASSCE, UTME, NECO, IGCSE, GCSE, A Level, SAT, IELTS, GRE, GMAT and MCAT. The learner-level filter runs from Early Years and Primary through Secondary/College and Tertiary to Adult Education, Professional and Special Needs.
Tutors on the Platform
The home page shows how many tutors teach the most popular subjects: Mathematics has 492 Tutors, Basic Science 243, Verbal Reasoning 219, Physics 196, Biology 173, Chemistry 171, Economics 100, IELTS 64, Accounting 43, Coding 41, English 34 and SAT 24.
A Top Rated Teachers section shows each tutor's students, sessions, country and star rating with the number of reviews. The figures are modest and specific: one tutor shows 9 Students and 277 Sessions with a 5.00 rating from 7 reviews, another 10 Students and 134 Sessions. Tutors on this list work with a handful of students over many sessions each. The busiest profile on the list, an account named Learn on the Go, shows 53 Students across 75 Sessions, while Esther George shows 6 Students and 199 Sessions. Every tutor in this section is listed in Nigeria.
The home page carries three testimonials. One student writes: "The teacher was always online, prompt and attentive. Has a good command of the subject and teaches really well." Abimbola Adebayo, a parent, says: "I found SabiTeach very easy to use, it was easy for us to pick a tutor we liked the sound of, and easy for my daughter to book future sessions." Olufunsho Akande praises a tutor who "was very thorough and patient, and made the Chemistry easy for my son to understand." Together they describe the product as parents use it: pick a tutor, then keep booking the same one.
Teaching on SabiTeach
The Become a SabiTeacher page invites tutors to "Teach what you are passionate about" and register with email. Joining takes three steps: register, complete the profile with qualifications, experience and skills, and start accepting session requests. The listed benefits are earning money online from home, teaching on your own schedule, choosing how many students to take, and finding students "from across the globe without traveling."
The tutor FAQ headings point to how the marketplace works for teachers: requirements to join, how new tutors find students, whether a free trial is mandatory, and how tutors can improve their ranking in the tutor list. The site publishes no commission rate.
Lessons, Scheduling and Support
The student FAQ covers finding tutors, rating them and leaving feedback, scheduling, canceling and rescheduling lessons, and what happens when a student misses a lesson or a tutor cannot attend. A Can I teach lessons using a mobile device question appears in the tutor section. Support is available by phone, message and a contact form, and the footer adds a partner program, a learning community, product videos and a STEAM Education section.
Who It Suits
SabiTeach suits Nigerian parents who want an online tutor for a specific school subject or exam, especially WASSCE, UTME, NECO or the British and American curricula, and who want to pick that tutor themselves using filters for budget, schedule and curriculum. The curriculum filter is a real help for families whose children follow a British, American or Montessori program in Nigeria.
It also fits adults learning a practical skill, from Excel and data analysis to public speaking, and Nigerian families abroad who want a tutor who knows the West African curriculum or a Nigerian language. For tutors, it is an easy way to start teaching online and build a small, loyal student list.
The main caveat is that prices are set tutor by tutor, so a family should compare several profiles before booking. Payment comes before the lesson, which makes the review counts and ratings on each profile worth reading first.
