What it is
Muallemy (معلمي, "my teacher") is an Arabic-language online tutoring marketplace. Its homepage headline calls it "أكبر منصة للتعلم عن بعد في المملكة العربية السعودية و الوطن العربي" (the largest remote learning platform in Saudi Arabia and the Arab world). That is the company's own claim, made on its homepage. The platform says it offers students varied educational services so they can earn their academic qualifications and learn new skills "through online courses and private lessons."
The model is a two-sided marketplace. One button reads "أبدء كمعلم وحقق الربح من التدريس اون لاين" (start as a teacher and earn from teaching online), the other "أبدء كطالب وادرس في اي وقت وفي اي مكان" (start as a student and study any time, anywhere). The About section describes the company as an educational platform working to make communication between teachers and students easier. Its slogan is "معلمي.. للسرعة و الاحتراف عنوان" (Muallemy: the address for speed and professionalism), and it calls itself the largest link between student and teacher (أكبر حلقة وصل بين الطالب والمعلم).
The service is available on the web and through apps for Android and iPhone, linked from the homepage to Google Play and the App Store. The app pitch is aimed at students who feel they waste time on small things instead of working toward their goals, and it invites them to use Muallemy to organize their time and take control of their personal development.
What is available now
The services section marks each offer as available (متاح) or coming soon (قريباً). Two are live:
- Online lessons (دروس أونلاين): live private lessons with a teacher to help students study.
- Homework support for schools (دعم في حل المهام للمدارس): help with school assignments. The student FAQ widens this to "المساعدة في حل الواجبات المدرسية والجامعية" (help with school and university homework).
Seven more are listed as coming soon: video courses, support for university graduation projects, research, professional CVs, support for public and private schools, publishing theses in scientific journals, and translation into different languages. The FAQ gives a longer list of what teachers on the platform provide, including web programming, animated video and graphic design, poems and stories, and voice-over, which shows that the marketplace is open to freelance skills as well as school tutoring.
How students use it
Registration needs only a mobile number and an e-mail address. To start, the FAQ says, you charge your wallet (شحن محفظتك), then search for a teacher and accept one "after reviewing their rating." There are two ways to find a teacher. A student can browse teachers and check their ratings and the comments of other students, or create a public post describing what they need and receive offers from teachers, then choose the one that suits them.
Prices are not fixed by the platform. The FAQ is direct: "يتم تحديد الأسعار من قبل المعلمين أنفسهم وهي تختلف من معلم لآخر بناءً على رغبتهم وخبرتهم" (prices are set by the teachers themselves and vary from teacher to teacher based on their wishes and experience). In practice, a student compares prices teacher by teacher, alongside each teacher's rating and reviews, before accepting an offer, with the wallet charged up front as the first step. A promotional offers page (عروض معلمي) appears in the menu, and the teacher FAQ notes that discounts from promo codes are paid by Muallemy, not deducted from the teacher.
Teachers on the platform
Teachers sign up with a valid mobile number or e-mail, an educational certificate and an optional introductory video about themselves and their experience. The account is then reviewed "لمدة تتراوح بين 24 و 72 ساعة" (for a period of 24 to 72 hours) and either approved or rejected with the requirements needed to apply again. The site says every teacher's qualifications are reviewed "with great care" and that teachers are then classified into defined types on the basis of that review, which is the quality check the platform describes for its marketplace.
Teachers may offer lessons or services outside their formal qualification, as long as they can guarantee high quality and service. Payment is handled by the platform: Muallemy transfers earnings to all teachers automatically at the end of each calendar month and sends a receipt and a notice. If a teacher enters a wrong bank account, the transfer is delayed to the end of the following month.
Refunds and disputes
A separate refund and exchange policy sets out a teacher-first process. A student with a problem must first contact the teacher, who has to reply and try to resolve it within a set number of business days. If the teacher does not respond or fix the issue in that time, the student can file a claim with Muallemy directly, within a short deadline counted from the date the lesson was delivered. The policy sets those limits as "يومَيْ عمل" (two business days) for the teacher and "خلال 3 ايام" (within 3 days) for the student's claim. Decisions on claims are at Muallemy's absolute discretion (لتقدير معلمي المطلق). Teachers must follow Muallemy's rules on compensating students, the refund timeframe has to match the category of the lesson order, and the return window starts from the date the lesson ends. Compensation, for students or teachers, is paid "برصيد معلمي فقط" (in Muallemy credit only), not cash.
Accounts can be banned for disrespecting or misusing the site, for example by sending spam messages, and a banned user loses any balance in the wallet. To get an account unblocked, the user contacts customer support, who review the request.
Support
Students and teachers reach support by raising a ticket through the contact page, with a reply promised "في غضون 24 ساعة" (within 24 hours), or through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat. The site invites questions, suggestions and complaints.
Values and mission
The site lists six values: quality, thinking outside the box, innovation, simple steps, speed and ease, and communication. Its vision is to make education beneficial for all parties: a unique educational service for the student at a reasonable price, and good extra income for the teacher at the same time. The mission statement promises to care for every student as if they were the only one using the service, and for every teacher as if they were the only member of the Muallemy family.
Who it suits
Muallemy suits Arabic-speaking students in Saudi Arabia and the wider Arab world who want to find a private online teacher themselves, compare ratings and reviews, and pay per lesson from a prepaid wallet. Posting a request and letting teachers make offers is useful for a specific homework or university assignment where the student knows exactly what help is needed. For teachers, it is a way to earn extra income online with monthly automatic payouts and no requirement to stick to the subject of their degree.
It is a weaker fit for families who want a managed program with a fixed price, a set curriculum or progress reports, since the platform leaves price, scheduling and teaching approach to each teacher. Learners looking for recorded video courses should note that the course service is still marked as coming soon, and anyone uneasy about prepaid balances should note that refunds come back as platform credit.
