What it is
Moalimy (معلمي, "my teacher") is an Arabic-language platform for live, remote private lessons. Its homepage calls it "المنصة الأولى لتوفير معلمين ومعلمات" (the first platform to provide male and female teachers) for "التدريس الخاص عن بعد" (private tutoring at a distance). The footer sets out the positioning in full: the first Arabic platform providing teachers for private lessons "في منطقة الخليج العربي" (in the Arabian Gulf region) at competitive prices, with the flexibility to change teachers and choose convenient lesson times. These are the company's own claims.
The site is in Arabic, with English and French versions in the language menu. It is aimed at families booking tutoring for children, but its package menu goes beyond primary school: it lists primary (الابتدائي), intermediate (المتوسط), secondary (الثانوي), international curricula (دولي), university (الجامعة), Qiyas test preparation (قياس) and skills development (تطوير مهارات), plus a mixed package (باقة متنوعة).
How it works
Signing up takes three steps on the homepage. First, create an account with basic details; the forms also accept sign-in with Google or Apple. Second, choose a package and a teacher: "اختر الباقة التي تناسب طموحك، وانتقِ المعلم الذي سيوجهك" (choose the package that fits your ambition and pick the teacher who will guide you). Third, pay through the platform's payment gateway, after which the virtual classrooms open and lessons can begin.
Each lesson is one-on-one, live and "مدة الحصة 60 دقيقة" (60 minutes long). Every package lists the devices it works on: computer, iPad and smart devices. The platform sends an automatic WhatsApp reminder before lessons; one parent's review quotes the message and thanks the platform for texting an hour before the lesson starts. If a tutor cancels scheduled lessons, a notice on the site says the canceled sessions appear with a red "click here to book" link, so the family can rebook with the same teacher that week or keep them as credit for the coming weeks.
Flexibility is one of the five reasons the site gives for choosing it: "مرونة في اختيار وقت الحصص وتغيير المعلم الخاص وبشكل فوري" (flexibility in choosing lesson times and changing your private teacher, instantly).
The subject packages
The homepage shows the primary-school package range in detail. Each package names what the teacher does:
- Child foundations (تأسيس الأطفال): a teacher who grounds young children in writing and reading letters and numbers, with lesson follow-up, explanation of upcoming lessons, correct pronunciation and interactive lessons.
- Holy Quran (القرآن الكريم): correction of recitation, follow-up of memorization and tajweed, with experienced teachers.
- Mathematics, Science, Arabic, English and Social Studies: a teacher for the subject "لجميع صفوف المرحلة الابتدائية" (for all grades of primary school), with homework help and test preparation. The science and Arabic packages add help preparing research projects.
The site's summary of what tutors do covers explaining lessons, recitation practice, homework help, preparing research and folded study sheets (المطويات), and test training. Reviews mention other packages too, such as English for the first year of intermediate school and an English conversation package for a fifth grader, and a first-year secondary student who booked intensive sessions before exams.
Prices
Each package on the homepage shows three per-lesson prices:
- 8 lessons (8 حصص): 56 per lesson.
- 2 lessons (2 حصص): 64 per lesson.
- Same-day urgent lesson (حصة مستعجلة اليوم): 76 per lesson.
The same figures appear on every primary package shown. The homepage prints these numbers without a currency symbol, so families should check the currency at checkout. The menu also lists gift cards (بطاقات هدايا).
The Smart Abilities Coach
The homepage promotes an AI feature called "مدرب القدرات الذكي" (the Smart Abilities Coach). Its tagline reads "لا نكتفي بإخبارك بخطئك، بل نخبرك بالسبب وكيفية علاجه" (we do not just tell you your mistake, we tell you the reason and how to fix it). The site says the AI-supported system analyzes the student's error patterns, identifies the skills that need development and then builds a personalized remedial plan so the mistake is not repeated and grades rise quickly. The site describes the feature but does not show how it works inside a lesson.
Teachers and supervision
The quality claim is that the teachers hold academic qualifications: "معلمين ومعلمات حاصلين على الشهادات العلمية التي تمكنهم من تقديم الدروس الخصوصية" (male and female teachers holding the academic qualifications that enable them to give private lessons). A supervisory and academic team (فريق إشرافي وأكاديمي) evaluates service quality and handles students' feedback.
Teachers join through the tutor sign-up page, which pitches the work as extra income from home on flexible days and hours. Applicants fill in an online form in three steps and upload documents; the Moalimy team then reviews the data and documents and holds a personal interview before approving the application. The registration form offers country choices across the Arab world, from Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE to Mauritania and Lebanon, and a long list of time zones. The footer also offers registration as a marketer (التسجيل كمسوق), a referral route for people who promote the platform.
What families say
The homepage carries dated reviews, mostly from parents. Umm Layan says she subscribed her daughter to English and maths and that "رسوم الاشتراك مغرية" (the subscription fees are attractive), with lessons starting on time. Sultan's mother booked the English package for the first year of intermediate school and says "مستوى ابني تغير كثيراً" (my son's level changed a lot). Abdullah's mother chose the Arabic package because her son struggled with Arabic after five years abroad. Umm Rima says her daughter in sixth grade now does her homework on time, especially maths. Another parent says that within two months of the English conversation package her fifth grader's level rose sharply and he now holds conversations at home. A student, Lama, writes "ماقد طلعت من الحصه الا وانا فاهمه" (I never left a lesson without understanding it). A mother of two says the teachers stay past the end of the lesson to make sure her daughter understands. A first-year secondary student says she started a week before her first-half exams, took 4 intensive lessons and earned a high grade, then subscribed from the start of the second half and got full marks.
Under the heading "الاستثمار في تعليم الأبناء" (investing in children's education), the homepage lists what the company believes private tutoring delivers: a unique, individual learning experience, better study habits, improved academic performance and personal growth, a higher level of thinking, more independent learners, and support for what happens in the school classroom.
Who it suits
Moalimy suits Arabic-speaking families, especially in the Gulf, who want one-on-one online tutoring for a child at a fixed per-lesson rate, with a teacher chosen by the family and the freedom to switch. It is strongest for primary school, where the packages are laid out in full, and covers foundations, Quran and tajweed, and all the core school subjects. Families who need help on short notice can book a same-day urgent lesson, and buying 8 lessons at a time brings the per-lesson price down. Parents who like structure will value the WhatsApp reminders and rebooking credit for canceled lessons.
It is a weaker fit for learners who want instruction in a language other than Arabic or English, or who want self-paced courses rather than live lessons. Families shopping on price should confirm the currency before paying, because the homepage figures carry none.
