What it is
MindPath Tutoring is a family-owned tutoring business in New South Wales, Australia, offering one-on-one lessons online across the state and in-home in selected locations. The homepage describes it as "Family-owned and teacher-led, supporting primary school, high school and HSC students across NSW," and the site covers students from kindergarten to Year 12. Its origin story is local: "What started as a local maths tutoring in Newcastle service has grown into a trusted education provider supporting 250+ families across NSW."
The stated goal is "to provide personalised academic support that helps students build confidence, strengthen skills and achieve their learning goals." The company says it matches each student with a tutor suited to their "individual learning needs, personality and academic goals," whether the student is catching up, staying on track or preparing for important exams.
Online and in-home tutoring
MindPath sells two formats. Online tutoring is the statewide option: lessons are live and one-on-one, delivered "via online platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams & Google Meet," where students talk to the tutor, share work and get support in real time. The FAQ says a student needs "a reliable internet connection, a computer or tablet, and a quiet place to learn." The online page mentions tutoring families in Sydney, Newcastle, the Central Coast, Wollongong and regional NSW.
Face-to-face tutoring is the alternative, with tutors who come to the family's home "across selected NSW locations." The site's location pages cover Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Sydney, Central Coast, Wollongong, Maitland and Port Macquarie. The pitch for this format is convenience: "No driving, no crowded centres."
Subjects and year levels
The online tutoring page breaks the subjects down by stage. Primary students get maths, English, reading and writing, and NAPLAN preparation. High school students get maths, English, science, history, PDHPE and geography. HSC students get HSC Maths (all courses), HSC English (all courses), HSC Biology, HSC Chemistry, HSC Physics and HSC Business Studies. The FAQ adds HSIE subjects to the list.
Beyond subject teaching, the homepage names four kinds of support: assessment preparation for school assessments and assignments, guidance with practical skills and investigations, exam preparation with "Past papers, exam techniques and effective revision strategies," and personalized one-on-one tutoring tailored to the student's goals.
How it works
Getting started has four steps on the homepage: submit an enquiry with the child's year level, subjects and goals; speak with the team; get matched with a tutor suited to the child's goals and learning style; then start tutoring online or face-to-face. MindPath promises "Same-Day Contact": "Enquire today and our team will be in touch the same day." The first step is a free consultation, booked through a form that asks for the child's location, year level, subjects and preferred format.
To match a tutor, the FAQ says the team considers "your child's year level, subject, goals, availability, location and individual learning needs." Parents receive "Structured Progress Reports," described as "Clear half-yearly and end-of-year reports so you know exactly how your child is progressing and where they can improve," and the online page also lists regular progress updates.
Tutors and child safety
MindPath says "Every MindPath tutor goes through a thorough triple-screening and onboarding process before working with students," including an interview, and that it looks for "strong academic backgrounds, excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for helping students succeed." Tutors are recruited as subject specialists. All tutors "hold a valid Working With Children Check and complete our onboarding requirements." The site displays an Office of the Children's Guardian badge reading "Working With Children Check Verified & Child Safety Compliant," and says MindPath is a member of the Australian Tutoring Association.
If the match does not work, the MindPath Guarantee applies: "If your first tutor isn't the right fit, we'll rematch your child with another one of our awesome tutors and give you 50% off your next lesson!"
Pricing and payment
Online tutoring has a published rate: "$65 + GST per hour," marked as a new family offer and including one-on-one lessons, all subjects and year levels, flexible scheduling and access to premium resources. The site calls it "NSW's most affordable premium tutoring option," which is the company's own description. In-home tutoring is quoted on request, because "Pricing depends on location, subject & tutor availability."
There are two ways to pay. Weekly Pay As You Go has "No lock-in contracts" and simple weekly payments. Alternatively, families can "Book a full school term upfront" and receive "1 FREE lesson on us." The homepage repeats "No lock-in contracts. Cancel anytime," and "Quality tutoring. Fair pricing. No hidden fees."
Results and reviews
The homepage gives three figures: 92% of families report improved confidence within 6 weeks, an average Google review rating of 5, and 4000+ hours of tutoring delivered to families across NSW in 2025. The site also claims an "Average 5 star rating from NSW families."
Testimonials are named by first name and suburb. Caroline from Lake Macquarie writes that her son "passed all of his exams with flying colours and in the two subjects he was tutored in, HSC Biology and HSC English improved by 30% and 20% respectively." Trish from Toronto says her daughter was struggling with HSC maths until her tutor "explained everything so she could understand," and her marks rose sharply. Heather from Sydney says her son wanted to enter HSC Maths Advanced feeling confident and "After 10 weeks, he is achieving this." Susan from Sydney says Year 11 English tutoring over Zoom increased her daughter's "confidence with answering essay questions in exams for other subjects also."
Free resources
MindPath offers two free downloads: an HSC Success Guide with study plans, exam strategies and checklists, and a Confident Learner Pack with a term planner, homework tracker and study tips.
Who it suits
MindPath suits NSW families who want a single local provider for one-on-one help from primary school to the HSC, at a known hourly rate for online lessons. HSC students get syllabus-specific tutoring across maths, English and the sciences, plus help with practical investigations and past papers. Parents in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Sydney, the Central Coast, Wollongong, Maitland or Port Macquarie who prefer a tutor at the kitchen table can ask for in-home lessons. Families wary of commitment get weekly payment, no contract and a discounted rematch if the first tutor is wrong.
It is a weaker fit for families outside NSW, since the subjects and marketing are built around the NSW syllabus and the HSC, and for students who want a self-paced online course rather than a live tutor. Families who need a firm in-home price before enquiring will have to request a quote.
