What idietera.gr is

idietera.gr is a Greek-language marketplace for private lessons. Students search for a tutor by subject and area, or filter for online lessons, then contact the teacher directly through the site and agree the lesson and the price between themselves. The name comes from the Greek word for private lessons, and the site's tagline is "Από το 2011, το idietera.gr συνδέει μαθητές με επιλεγμένους και επικυρωμένους καθηγητές - online ή δια ζώσης, χωρίς μεσάζοντες" (since 2011, idietera.gr has connected students with selected and verified teachers, online or in person, without intermediaries).

The About page says the founders started in 2011 to fill a real gap in Greek education: the difficulty of finding a reliable private tutor "χωρίς μεσάζοντες, χωρίς προμήθειες, και χωρίς αδιαφάνεια" (without intermediaries, without commissions, and without opacity). The site was built by Konordo OÜ, which the page describes as a small IT company specializing in education and educational tools, and the footer copyright runs from 2011 to 2026 under that name. The About page also names Maria Kyriakidou, MSc, a philologist and special educator with more than 30 years of experience in learning difficulties, as a contributor to the site's educational content. The page headline addresses learners across Greece.

What a learner actually gets

For a student or a parent, the service is a searchable directory of tutor profiles. The homepage FAQ describes the search in 3 steps: look up the subject and filter by area or online availability, compare tutor profiles (reviews, prices, experience and certifications), then send a message to the tutor who fits, "απευθείας μέσα από την πλατφόρμα, χωρίς μεσάζοντες και χωρίς κόστος" (directly through the platform, without intermediaries and at no cost). The FAQ notes that students can only reach teachers through the contact form beside each listing; phone numbers and email addresses are not shown publicly.

The catalog is wide. The homepage says tutors are available in 505 subjects, from school subjects to foreign languages, music and computing. The subject menu covers foreign languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian), secondary education (mathematics, Greek language and literature, physics, chemistry), music (music theory, guitar, piano, voice), primary school and creative activities, computing (programming, 3D design, Microsoft Office), arts (painting, drawing, photography), university subjects (mathematics, physics, chemistry), and sports and wellness (personal training, yoga, dance). The menu also has a section headed "Ιδιαίτερα Μαθήματα στην Κύπρο" (private lessons in Cyprus).

The homepage defines private lessons as one-to-one sessions adapted to each student's needs, pace and goals, held in person at the student's or the teacher's home or online by video call. It says online lessons can be as effective as in-person ones, run by video call with screen sharing and digital tools, and that their advantages are a flexible schedule, access to teachers from all over Greece regardless of location, and usually a lower cost. Students can filter for teachers who teach online only.

What a tutor profile shows

Each profile carries the tutor's age range, years of teaching experience, the subjects taught, the age groups served, a long description, teaching approach, extra services, degrees, rates and reviews. Two profiles show the range:

  • A flute teacher, 28 years old with 7 years of teaching experience, teaches flute, recorder, music theory and solfège to children, teenagers, university students and adults. Her profile is headed "Μαθήματα Φλάουτου, Φλογέρας στην Αθήνα και online" (flute and recorder lessons in Athens and online). Her degrees list a Master, The Musician Educator, from the Royal Conservatoire of the Hague (2026), a degree in Music Science and Art with a flute specialization from the University of Macedonia (2021), and a flute diploma from the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki (2019). The last two are marked "Επαληθευμένο" (verified). Her rate is 25€ an hour in person and 20€ an hour online, and her extras include group lessons and preparation for scholarships, entrance exams, competitions and study abroad.
  • A Japanese teacher with 14 years of teaching experience teaches online at 20€ an hour, to secondary school, university and postgraduate students. Her profile mentions JLPT exam preparation, small groups of 2 to 3 people at lower prices, summer lessons, free learning material and a certificate in teaching students with dyslexia. It carries 17 reviews; one calls her "υπομονετική" (patient) and says she makes even the most demanding parts of the language "ενδιαφέροντα και προσιτά" (interesting and accessible).

Verification has a defined meaning on this site. The homepage FAQ says that where a verification mark appears, the team has checked details of that profile. The About page adds that reviews and verification marks may appear on public profiles where they exist, so not every tutor carries them.

Prices, fees and the business model

Students pay the tutor, not the site. The homepage FAQ gives an indicative range: "Ενδεικτικά, οι τιμές στο idietera.gr κυμαίνονται από 8€ έως 30€ την ώρα, με μέση τιμή περίπου 15€/ώρα. Τα online μαθήματα τείνουν να είναι πιο προσιτά." (Indicatively, prices on idietera.gr range from 8€ to 30€ an hour, with an average of about 15€ an hour. Online lessons tend to be more affordable.) The same answer says "Η πλατφόρμα δεν χρεώνει προμήθεια" (the platform charges no commission), and that the price a student sees is the one agreed directly with the teacher. The About page puts it from the tutor's side: teachers keep 100% of their fees.

The site earns from tutors instead. The FAQ says creating an account and publishing a listing is completely free, but reading the messages students send requires a subscription to idietera.gr. A tutor can publish and unpublish a listing at any time; without a subscription they can receive and read messages, but need a subscription to see students' contact details. Active subscriptions keep running whether or not the listing is published. Each user may have one listing, with as many subject categories added to it as they want.

Two paid add-ons sit beside the subscription. The Promotion service places a listing in the most prominent spot on the first page of its category, where it stays even when visitors filter or page through results, and it does not include a subscription. A Validation service (Υπηρεσία Επικύρωσης) handles verification. Listings are otherwise ordered by the strength of the listing, with ties broken by validation date and then registration date. Checkout accepts discount coupons, and the footer links a prices and packages page.

tutorbook.gr for tutors

idietera.gr also runs tutorbook.gr, which its page calls "εργαλείο για καθηγητές: κρατήσεις, online αίθουσα, μαθητές και μαθήματα σε ένα σημείο" (a tool for teachers: bookings, online classroom, students and lessons in one place). It lists a personal availability page, bookings and time changes, an online classroom with no time limit, and student records with payments and balances. The pricing line reads "Οι πρώτοι 100 καθηγητές κρατούν την τιμή 10€/μήνα, για όσο η συνδρομή τους μένει ενεργή. Μετά, η τιμή για νέες εγγραφές είναι 20€/μήνα." (The first 100 teachers keep the price of 10€ a month for as long as their subscription stays active. After that, the price for new sign-ups is 20€ a month.) Access is requested through a form.

Track record

The homepage reports an average rating of 4.9 across more than 7,000 student reviews of teachers. The About page speaks of thousands of teachers, students and reviews, and says thousands of families and educators trust the site every day. The footer also links an idietera.gr app and a press kit. Support is by email at idietera@idietera.gr or through the contact form.

Who it suits and who it does not

idietera.gr suits Greek-speaking families and students who want a one-to-one tutor for school subjects, university courses, languages, music or a hobby, either nearby or online, and who are comfortable contacting tutors and agreeing terms directly. The posted rates, years of experience, degrees and reviews make it practical to compare several tutors before choosing. It also suits independent tutors who want students without giving up a share of their fee, provided they accept the subscription needed to read student messages.

It is a directory rather than a managed tutoring service: the lesson, the schedule and the payment are arranged between student and tutor. The interface and nearly all profiles are in Greek, so learners who do not read Greek will struggle. Anyone looking for a structured course, recorded lessons or a certificate on completion should look elsewhere.
