What Groupe Réussite is

Groupe Réussite is a French tutoring company based in Paris that arranges private lessons at a student's home or by video, and runs intensive small-group courses during school holidays. Its homepage sums up the offer as "Cours particuliers à domicile ou en visio, et stages intensifs en présentiel ou en ligne, du CP à Bac+5" (private lessons at home or by video, and intensive courses in person or online, from first grade to master's level). It is a product for families and students in France: school pupils, students in the preparatory classes for the grandes écoles (CPGE), university students and adults.

The company dates itself to 2010 ("16 ans d'expérience, depuis 2010") and claims "+50 000 élèves accompagnés" (more than 50,000 students supported) since then. A resource page on the site says it was founded "par d'anciens élèves de classe préparatoire, et d'écoles d'ingénieurs" (by former preparatory-class and engineering-school students). The homepage shows 1,250 intensive courses organized and 161,352 lessons given, and a Google rating of 4.9 out of 5 from more than 1,000 reviews. The footer gives the address as 3 Rue de l'Estrapade in Paris's 5th arrondissement and notes the company is "Habilité URSSAF," approved for the French tax credit scheme.

How private lessons work

Getting started takes three steps, and the site says to allow "48 h maximum" from search to first lesson. First, the family describes the need in about two minutes: subject, level, format (home, video or intensive course), schedule constraints and the student's situation. Second, Groupe Réussite picks the tutor: "Notre équipe pédagogique cible un enseignant, agrégé, normalien ou doctorant, adapté au profil. Vous validez le binôme avant la première séance." (Our teaching team selects a teacher, a holder of the agrégation, a graduate of the École normale supérieure or a doctoral student, suited to the profile. You approve the pairing before the first session.) Third, the first lesson takes place "sans engagement" (without commitment). The FAQ adds that payment is per session and families can stop "sans préavis ni frais de résiliation" (without notice or cancellation fees).

Home lessons are available in eight cities: Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, Lille, Marseille, Toulouse, Strasbourg and Nice. The homepage lists teacher numbers by city, from 491 in Paris and 134 in Lyon down to 49 in Nice, and marks video as the priority format outside Paris and Lyon. Everywhere else in France, lessons run "en direct sur notre plateforme" (live on our platform) by video, with "Même exigence de sélection des enseignants, même suivi pédagogique dans les deux formats" (the same teacher selection and the same academic follow-up in both formats). Subjects run from math, French, computer science, physics and chemistry and English to philosophy, economics, history and geography, and the tutor profiles extend to music and sports coaching. There is a mobile app on the App Store and Google Play, plus a client area and a teacher area.

The tutors

The homepage figures read "+ de 2 500 Profs actifs" (more than 2,500 active teachers), "78 % Agrégés ou doctorants" (78% hold the agrégation or a doctorate), and "35 € /h moy. Tarif horaire" (average hourly rate €35). The FAQ describes selection: "Nous sélectionnons nos professeurs un par un depuis 2011 : agrégés, normaliens, doctorants, étudiants les plus brillants des grandes écoles" (we have selected our teachers one by one since 2011), so the site gives both 2010 and 2011 as starting points.

Twelve sample profiles show the range. Ninon is described as "Normalienne, agrégée de SES" who teaches at university and examines in CPGE. Clémence is an "agrégée de Lettres modernes" teaching French from middle school to preparatory classes. Mohamed is "Agrégé de physique et professeur à l'université Gustave Eiffel." Irving, a doctor of chemistry, teaches physics and chemistry at the Lycée Charlemagne and lists "plus de 5000 heures de cours particuliers depuis 2014." Cyril, "Agrégé de mathématiques," taught for nearly 30 years, 20 of them at INSA Rouen. Profiles show star ratings and review counts, such as 4.9 from 38 reviews for Ninon and 5.0 from 64 for Clémence.

Teachers set their own rates. The site tells tutors: "Vous gardez la main sur votre planning, vos tarifs et votre pédagogie" (you keep control of your schedule, rates and teaching), while Groupe Réussite handles the URSSAF paperwork, invoicing and follow-up. A resource page adds that tutors pay no registration fee and get free teaching resources and training.

Intensive courses

The "stages" are small-group intensive courses held in the school holidays, in Paris, Lyon or by video, all listed at "Tarif 20 € / h" (€20 an hour). There are four families: Bac courses for the last two years of high school (specialty subjects, Bac method and the Grand Oral), Brevet courses for 3e (French, math, history and geography, oral), scientific preparatory courses for MPSI, PCSI, MP and PSI students, and economics and business preparatory courses for ECG and ECT students aiming at HEC, ESSEC and EM Lyon. A further set prepares for seven post-Bac admission exams: Sciences Po, Avenir, Sésame, Accès, Puissance Alpha, Geipi and Advance.

Prices and the tax credit

The central selling point is the French home-services tax credit, applied up front. "Depuis 2022, l'État applique le crédit d'impôt directement sur la facture via le dispositif Avance Immédiate URSSAF" (since 2022 the state applies the tax credit directly on the invoice through the URSSAF Immediate Advance scheme), and the site says Groupe Réussite "fait partie des tout premiers organismes habilités" (was among the very first approved providers). The headline is "Vos cours particuliers, 50 % moins chers, immédiatement" (your private lessons, 50% cheaper, immediately). The conditions listed are: all French tax households, taxable or not; no cash advance or extra tax step; an annual ceiling of €12,000 of eligible spending per household; and "Réservé aux cours particuliers donnés par des professeurs agréés" (reserved for private lessons given by approved teachers). The FAQ specifies that the scheme covers home lessons.

The worked example uses a teacher rate of €44 an hour: four sessions of one and a half hours cost €264 without the Immediate Advance, and the family "payez réellement 132 €" (actually pays €132).

Reviews

Above the reviews sits the headline "« Mes notes ont décollé en deux mois. »" (My grades took off in two months.) Manon, a final-year student, writes: "Excellente expérience ! Les professeurs sont très compétents et nous accompagnent efficacement dans la préparation des concours." (Excellent experience! The teachers are very competent and support us effectively in preparing for competitive exams.) Lisa, mother of a final-year student, praises "la gestion simplifiée des paiements pour chaque séance" (the simplified payment for each session), and Caroline writes that her son's prep-school math tutor helped "plus que doubler sa moyenne en maths" (more than double his math average).

Advisers answer "du lundi au vendredi, par téléphone ou e-mail" (Monday to Friday, by phone or email), available 10 am to 6 pm.

Who it suits and who it does not

Groupe Réussite suits French families who want a highly qualified tutor chosen for them rather than picked from a marketplace, especially for lycée, the Bac, preparatory classes and competitive entrance exams. Households in the eight cities can have lessons at home and cut the cost in half at the point of invoicing through the URSSAF scheme; others can learn by video. Students who want a short, intensive push during the holidays can book a stage at €20 an hour. The in-house books, written by the company's agrégés, normaliens and doctors and "Conçus, fabriqués et diffusés en interne" (designed, produced and distributed in-house), give continuity between lessons and courses.

It suits less well families outside France, who cannot use the French tax credit, or a parent who wants to browse and compare many tutors before choosing, since the teaching team proposes the match.
