What Cluey Learning Is

Cluey Learning is an online tutoring service for Australian school students from year 2 to year 12. Its home page describes it as "Online face-to-face schoolwork support for years 2 to 12": a student meets a real tutor live over video and works with them on a shared digital whiteboard, from home. The footer gives a Sydney address, and the site also points visitors in New Zealand to a separate New Zealand site with that country's programs and tutors. Cluey reports scale clearly on its home page: "2 million+ sessions delivered," "100k+ happy learners (and counting!)," and an invitation to "Join over 33,000 Australian students."

It is not a marketplace where parents browse tutor profiles. Cluey runs the matching itself, writes the learning content through its own education team, and employs tutors who teach from that content. That makes it a fit for parents who want the service to handle the choices, and for this directory's tutoring and kids' learning readers alike.

What Students Get

Programs are organized by school stage. The home page lists Primary (years 2 to 6) with English and maths, Secondary (years 7 to 10) with English and maths, and Senior (years 11 and 12) with English, maths and sciences. The year-by-year menu fills that out: coding sits alongside maths and English in the primary years, NAPLAN preparation appears for years 3, 5, 7 and 9, advanced maths is offered in year 10, and years 11 and 12 add chemistry, biology and physics. Exam prep covers general exam preparation, NAPLAN, ATAR, LANTITE and selective school entry.

Beyond the core program, the site lists homeschool tutoring, special needs tutoring and expat tutoring for Australian students living abroad. There are holiday camps too, including coding, animation, YouTube creators, DJ, Curious Minds, Roblox Legends, Minecraft Engineers and design camps, plus online after-school coding, animation, Curious Minds and Minecraft engineering classes. A Cluey for Schools option is listed for schools, and the Cluey Impact program partners with Australian charities, education and community organizations.

A session is live and one-to-one by default. The landing page says each one runs "With video, audio and a collaborative whiteboard," and adds "we record each session so it can be reviewed at any time." Cluey's education team, the page says, "reviews recorded sessions to help coach & develop our tutors," and parents receive "regular progress reports." A review reprinted on the same page describes the routine: tutor and student set goals at the start, the student gets a session outline, and a session review and progress report go to the student and parent afterwards. The parent portal holds session times, recordings, progress reports, practice questions and invoices, and there is a booking calendar for changing times. Reviewers also mention small group sessions; one says a group can have up to four other children, and a parent quoted in another says group sessions are "a little cheaper."

Content is Cluey's own. The tutor jobs page says its "expert education team have designed and built learning programs based on the Australian curriculum that contain all the content you'll need," so tutors do not plan lessons or source material. Tutors set learning goals, adapt the student's plan over time, give feedback after each session and assign practice questions between sessions. The landing page says the content is mapped to the curriculum "from classroom to living room," and reprinted reviews add that it follows the Australian National Curriculum with state-by-state variations.

Getting started begins with a conversation. Reviews on the landing page describe a phone call with a learning advisor about the child's needs and personality, a matched tutor, an email with portal login details, and a technical check of webcam and microphone before the first session. No software download is needed; a computer with webcam, microphone and a reasonable internet connection is enough. The home page's main call to action is to book a trial session.

Tutors

According to the tutor jobs page, Cluey hires university students and teachers. Applicants need strong subject knowledge, an understanding of the Australian education system, the ability to work one-to-one or in a small group, at least 10 hours of availability a week, and a valid Working With Children Check. The process includes an interview, a video application (because "All of our sessions are recorded for quality assurance"), and a qualifications and WWC check, followed by paid training. The jobs page notes that "the majority of our tutors have never tutored online previously," which the training is meant to cover. Tutors are supported by a Tutor Care team and the education team. The page lists contractor rates from $25 per hour tutoring session rising to $40 for qualified specialist teachers, and says tutor sessions typically take place between 3pm and 9pm (AEDT) on weekdays or during the day on weekends.

Reviews on the landing page describe tutors as teachers, people training to be teachers, or high ATAR achievers, all with Working With Children Checks.

Results, Ratings and Price

The home page reports that "82% of Cluey parents agree their child's grades have improved" and "85% of Cluey parents agree their child is more confident." The landing page says Cluey is "Rated 4.7/5 by parents and students" and cites "Over 1,000 positive reviews." One parent on the home page, Antoinette, writes that tutoring helped her son "re-engage with Maths and English after a period of missing school," and that "The sessions start with setting of goals and ends with a review from tutor and student."

Prices are on a separate pricing page and fee schedule. Reviews reprinted on the landing page quote session prices of $45 for years 2-6 and $80 for years 7-12, with sessions running "45 minutes to an hour depending on the age," and mention packages and occasional first-session discounts; those are reviewers' figures, so the pricing page is the place to confirm current rates. Two reviews also say sessions can be booked between 7am and 10pm, seven days a week.

Who It Suits and Who It Does Not

Cluey suits Australian families who want curriculum-aligned help without driving to a tutoring center, and who would rather have the company pick a tutor than sift through profiles. Parents who want visibility get recorded sessions, progress reports and a portal. Students heading into NAPLAN, ATAR, LANTITE or a selective school test have dedicated prep, and families who homeschool, have a child with additional needs, or live overseas have their own programs. The holiday and after-school camps add coding and creative options for primary-age children.

It fits less well for learners outside the Australian curriculum (New Zealand has its own site) and for senior students wanting subjects beyond maths, English and the three sciences. Every session is live with a tutor at a booked time, so a student who prefers self-paced video lessons will not find that here.
