Exam Prep Online sells short, self-paced video courses that prepare Ontario high school students for their math exams. The site describes its offer as "Expertly designed Math and Chemistry courses tailored for Ontario students, aligning with the provincial curriculum to build skills and confidence for exam success." Each course matches one Ontario course code, so a student in Grade 11 functions buys the course for exactly that class rather than a general algebra review.
The courses are made by FoundationsEDU, credited on every course page with "A course by: FoundationsEDU". The site's About page introduces the organization behind it: "Foundations Education is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2007. Our mission is to support academic success by providing students with the tools that enhance understanding in their courses and improve their learning process." It adds that the organization is "also driven to create educational resources for teachers in the classroom, which support best practices for learning in math and science." The About page names Sarah DeLuca as Founder & Director and quotes her view of what the work is for: "There is a fundamental difference between schooling and education. In the former, we instruct curriculum and assess understanding through test performance. In the latter, we provide individuals with the proper tools to achieve their goals, not only in academics but for personal growth as learners and contributors." An exam prep product is squarely about test performance, so the quote reads as a statement that the courses should leave students with tools, not just a grade.
The courses on offer
The course menu lists five math titles, four of them available now:
- Grade 10 Academic MPM2D Exam Prep
- Grade 11 University MCR3U Exam Prep
- Grade 11 University/College MCF3M Exam Prep
- Grade 12 MHF4U Advanced Functions
- Grade 11 College MBF3C, marked "Coming Soon"
The footer splits the catalog into Math Exam Prep and Chemistry Exam Prep, and the homepage promotes "Math & Chemistry exam prep courses", but every course in the menu and on the course list is a math course.
Two course pages spell out what they cover. The Grade 10 MPM2D course "focuses on strengthening key skills and concepts in problem-solving, algebra, and abstract reasoning." Students "Explore quadratic relations and their real-world applications", "Solve and apply linear systems in various contexts", "Verify properties of geometric figures using analytic geometry", and "Investigate and apply trigonometry to right and acute triangles." The page's promise is that "students will develop critical thinking, enhance their mathematical reasoning, and effectively tackle multi-step problems, all essential for exam success."
The Grade 11 MCR3U course "is designed to help students master the foundational concepts of functions and their applications." It reviews "linear, quadratic, exponential, and trigonometric functions", has students practice representing functions in numerical, algebraic and graphical form and "solving real-world problems involving functions", and puts "Additional focus" on "understanding inverse functions, simplifying algebraic expressions, and tackling multi-step problems with confidence." The page sums it up: "This course equips students with the reasoning skills and strategies they need to succeed on their exams." Both course pages are dated January 2025 and list English as the language.
How the courses teach
The approach is review rather than first teaching. The homepage explains the problem it is solving: "We understand that exam time can be a stressful and challenging time. Figuring out when to start, where to start, and how to start your studying can be confusing!" The answer is a course that does the planning for the student: "Our exam prep courses are designed to structure your studying for you. Each video course will quickly review the BIG IDEAS in each strand of your course and will work through questions that you are likely to see on your exam."
A second point goes to exam technique. "Many students find it challenging to choose the appropriate steps to solve exam questions because exams cover all concepts taught in a course." The video lessons therefore "demonstrate strategies for thinking and making connections that you can use while writing your exam, so that you know how to get started on questions and which processes to choose." That is the gap the product aims at: a student who knows each unit on its own but freezes when a final exam mixes them all together.
What a student gets
The homepage lists the contents of every course. Students "Get an Exam Prep Workbook, guided video lessons, a practice exam & solutions, and study sheets", and can "Access 4–6 hours of expert-led videos, practice exams, and study tools to prepare for your math or chemistry exams." It also mentions "bonus materials" alongside the workbooks and practice exams. Inside a course, the "My Course Documents" area holds three items: the Course Workbook, the Workbook Solutions and the Video Course. The homepage headlines promise "Clear explanations, practical strategies, expert support", "Exam Prep Made Simple" and "Study at your own pace", and a short introductory video shows "how our expert-designed courses simplify Math and Chemistry."
Put together, the package covers the three parts of exam review: explanation in the videos, practice in the workbook with its full solutions, and a practice exam to test readiness before the real one.
Price and access
Every course is listed at the same price, $280.00, shown reduced to $75.00 on the homepage and the course list. The purchase buys a fixed window: "Purchasing this course grants you 4 weeks access to all course materials and videos." Access is through a site account; students register, then log in to reach their course documents. Questions go through the contact page.
Who it suits
Exam Prep Online suits an Ontario high school student in MPM2D, MCR3U, MCF3M or MHF4U who has done the course and wants a structured run at the final exam: the big ideas of each strand, worked exam-style questions, a practice exam and solutions, all in one package. It also suits a parent who wants a self-contained review for a teenager without booking a tutor, and the 4-week window fits the weeks before an exam.
The limits follow from the design. The courses review rather than teach from scratch, so a student meeting the material for the first time will get more from their class first. The access lasts 4 weeks, not a semester, and the choice is narrow: four math courses now, with a fifth on the way, all tied to Ontario course codes.
