What Vedantu is

Vedantu is an Indian live learning platform for school students and their parents. Its home page bills it as online classes from K1 to K12 plus offline centers for competitive exams, and the course menu runs from LKG to Class 13: school tuition for CBSE, ICSE and state boards, preparation for entrance exams such as JEE and NEET, and a separate kids' program in English, math and coding. The company is Vedantu Innovations Pvt. Ltd., with its address listed in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, Karnataka.

The core idea, as an older version of the site puts it, is that students interact with their chosen teacher live online instead of sitting in a crowded coaching class. That page notes that students in India often feel too shy to clarify doubts in a crowded class and travel long hours to get there, and says students can pick a teacher at a time that suits them, wherever that teacher is based.

School tuition and exam preparation

For older students the catalog splits into two tracks. School tuition covers Class 3 to 12 on the CBSE and ICSE boards, with all boards listed for Classes 3 to 5. The site names Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as the core tuition subjects, and its free study material reaches into Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, English and Hindi. The competitive exam track lists JEE, NEET, JEE/NEET Foundation, EAMCET and Olympiads, and the site also lists NDA, KVPY, NTSE and CUET. Older course listings show long-term courses for Class 3 to 13, crash courses for JEE and NEET taught in English and in Hinglish, an NDA crash course, CBSE interactive books for Class 6 to 10, distance learning for Class 11 to 13, and CUET courses in GK, science and commerce.

Classes run live on Vedantu's own platform, WAVE. The home page says WAVE 2.0 uses 40% less bandwidth than other platforms, works on mobile devices, and lets teachers gauge each child's engagement among hundreds in a class; it lists AR filters, drag and drop, hotspot and a multi-teacher model among its features. The online classes are recorded, so students can return to a session for revision. Registered users get revision notes, formula sheets, assignments, regular homework and subjective and objective tests, and each student's academic progress report is shared at a parent-teacher meeting. Quizzes and objective tests such as V-Brainer, V-Maths and Turbo Maths reward top performers with surprise gifts.

Not everything is online. The home page describes Vedantu Learning Centres in 20+ cities, including Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune, offering offline JEE and NEET courses with small batch sizes, and the footer lists further centers from Muzaffarpur to Srinagar and Jammu. The Vedantu Partner Program offers a "Vedantu powered coaching institute near you".

One-to-one tutoring and its prices

The clearest prices on the site are for one-to-one tutoring, one teacher with one student, each shown as a starting hourly rate:

  • CBSE and ICSE school results: starts at ₹888/hr
  • JEE and NEET preparation: starts at ₹1,049/hr
  • IB and IGCSE board tutoring: starts at ₹1,249/hr
  • Java and Python: starts at ₹999/hr

The site does not print prices for its group courses; families are directed to book a free demo or a free academic counseling session, and a counselor calls back. An older page offered free seats in Vedantu Master Classes, its live online classes, with 1-on-1 classes as the premium option.

Vedantu Early Learning for younger children

Vedantu Early Learning is the kids' program, aimed at LKG to Grade 8. Its FAQ says the classes are designed for children aged 4 to 14, with age-appropriate content and a personalized learning path for each stage. All courses are taught in live one-to-one sessions, and children start at the right level after an evaluation. There are four flagship courses:

  • English Superstar, phonics and reading, LKG to Grade 8
  • Superspeakers, public speaking and spoken English, LKG to Grade 8
  • Supercoders, coding classes, Grade 1 to 8
  • Supermath (V Math), concept-based math, KG to Grade 8

The page lists 1:1 classes, physical worksheets, personalized attention and an improvement guarantee across these courses. Teachers are described as "Teachers by choice", selected and trained by industry experts, and each session mixes learning, practice, mastery and repetition, with regular assessments along the way. The footer also mentions small groups and flexible courses. The page shows a 4.8 rating on Trustpilot.

The Early Learning page carries a 100% Outcome Guarantee: if a child attends at least 90% of the classes, Vedantu guarantees measurable improvement in their skills and knowledge by the end of the course. The main site has a broader Vedantu Improvement Promise (VIP), which it describes as a guarantee of improvement in school and competitive exams. The page links to a refund policy but does not summarize its terms.

Scale, scholarships and free resources

Vedantu publishes several reach figures. The home page says its teachers have teaching experience of over 4.5 crore hours to 10 lakh students in 1000+ cities in 57 countries. Its impact block counts 2.1+ crore hours of live learning, 10+ lakh monthly YouTube views, 25+ lakh doubts resolved on the app, and students taking live classes in 57+ countries.

Several programs cost nothing or cut the fee. The Vedantu Scholarship Admission Test (VSAT) is an online test for up to a 100% scholarship on Vedantu courses. Eklavya JEE and Eklavya NEET offer free online coaching from top teachers, the Vedantu Olympiad Litmus Test (VOLT) gives students a chance to prepare for the international olympiad for free, and Revise India is a free revision camp for Class 10 CBSE students with live doubt solving. One testimonial on the home page reads "After I joined the Eklavya batch at Vedantu, I cracked KVPY and WBJEE and discovered my true potential."

The free study library is large: NCERT solutions from Class 1 to 12, NCERT books, CBSE sample papers, previous year question papers, important questions, revision notes and syllabi, ICSE and ISC material, solutions for reference books such as HC Verma, RD Sharma and RS Aggarwal, JEE and NEET mock tests and notes, and state board pages from the AP Board to the WB Board.

Access and support

The home page says Vedantu is available on Android devices, with an SMS link to download the app. Support runs through a toll-free number and academic counselors; the site lists phone hours of 9 AM to 9:30 PM on all days, and the Early Learning page lists Monday to Saturday 10AM to 9PM and Sunday 10AM to 7PM. The company's structured data lists customer service in English and Hindi.

Who it suits

Vedantu suits Indian school students who want a live teacher rather than recorded lessons: a CBSE or ICSE student in Class 6 to 12 looking for tuition, a JEE or NEET aspirant who wants online coaching or an offline center, or a family that wants one-to-one tutoring at a published hourly rate. The free scholarship test, the Eklavya batches and the free study library lower the cost of trying it, and recorded classes plus a low-bandwidth classroom help where the connection is weak. Parents of children from LKG to Grade 8 get a separate one-to-one program in reading, speaking, coding and math with an attendance-based outcome guarantee. The main caveat is cost transparency: group course prices only arrive after a demo or a counseling call, so comparing courses takes a conversation.
