What PMT Education Is
PMT Education describes itself as "a non-profit education platform for students and teachers" that creates free tools and resources to help GCSE and A Level students pass their exams. It is three things in one place: a library of free revision material, a program of paid online crash courses, and a private tuition platform where students book vetted tutors for one-to-one online lessons. A fourth strand covers university admissions, with tutors for entrance tests, interviews and personal statements. The homepage counts 400+ "Top Rated Tutors" and "More than 21,500+ happy students".
The reader is a secondary school student or a parent paying for one, working toward GCSEs, AS and A Levels or the IB, and later a university application. Teachers are a secondary audience: the homepage says PMT supports them through its free resource-sharing platform.
Free Revision Resources
The revision section is free and organized by qualification and exam board, so a student revising for a particular A Level specification sees material for that specification. The homepage lists videos, flashcards, traditional notes and questions by topic, with subject pages for Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Psychology, English, Economics, Geography and Computer Science.
Two practice products sit alongside the notes. Mock papers for GCSE and A Level are "Professionally created to mirror real exam formats and question styles" and are offered across a range of subjects and exam boards. Predicted papers are a free download, built by subject experts from past paper trends and examiner insights to flag topics that may come up in the summer exams; the site pitches them for timed practice in the final weeks. A STEM section adds advice on what to study at university, routes such as apprenticeships, BTECs and coding bootcamps, university profiles and career profiles. A monthly newsletter announces new resources.
Online Crash Courses
PMT's revision courses are short, online, teacher-led workshops. The course menu runs GCSE courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Science, Maths, English and Geography, and AS and A Level courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Further Maths, Economics and Geography, grouped into Christmas, Easter, May half-term, summer and exam preparation sessions, plus on-demand options and courses by school year (Year 10 to Year 13).
The A Level exam preparation page shows how they work. These are one-day exam technique workshops aimed at Year 13 students, filtered by subject and by exam board (AQA, Edexcel, OCR (A) and Edexcel IGCSE). The listed AQA Biology and OCR (A) Biology courses run 9:30am to 4:30pm, cost £95 for the day, and had their dates marked TBC with a "Register Interest" button. The page says the workshops "will teach you how to think like an examiner": teachers, many of them examiners themselves, use past paper questions to show how to break down long-answer questions, plan and structure a response, and manage time so students do not "race against the clock on exam day."
Course features are listed as online delivery, printed handouts and recorded sessions. After the course, students keep revision guides in the form of interactive workbooks, past test papers, professionally printed revision booklets and the course recordings to watch again.
The course tutors are introduced by name. Jane N. teaches A Level Biology in West London, holds a first-class degree in Pharmacology and has examining experience. Sean C. has taught chemistry for 34 years, has been an A Level examiner for AQA and Cambridge International Examinations, and also tutors one-to-one on PMT's platform. Jocelyn S., head of mathematics at an independent college in London, teaches Maths and stresses past paper practice.
Bursaries. PMT reserves two free places on every revision and university admissions course for students from low-income or disadvantaged backgrounds who apply through its bursary scheme.
The Tutoring Platform
PMT Tuition covers GCSE, A Level, IB and university admissions. Tutor subjects include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Further Maths, English, Geography, Economics, Computer Science, Psychology and Business Studies. For admissions, tutors are listed for STEP, MAT, PAT, UCAT, TSA, ELAT and ECAA, interviews, personal statements, scholarships and funding, and international applicants.
Students and parents search the tutor database and filter by factors such as location, subjects taught and DBS checks. They request a lesson on a chosen date and time from the tutor's profile, and the tutor accepts, declines or suggests another slot. Prices are set by each tutor; the homepage says there are tutors "from £20/hour".
Lessons happen in PMT's own online classroom. Every tutor must teach there, uploading resources and homework, writing lesson plans and keeping private feedback and notes on each student. The interactive whiteboard has an integrated resource library and LaTeX support, and each lesson is automatically recorded and saved in the student's classroom so both sides can pick up where they left off. A Smart Search lets tutors find a past lesson by filters and tags, reuse its resources or duplicate the whole whiteboard.
Vetting is the selling point for parents. Tutors are personally interviewed and assessed before they join, every tutor must hold an Enhanced DBS check, and PMT says it confirms all qualifications.
For tutors. The become-a-tutor page sets out the terms: tutors set their own price and hours, PMT charges a platform fee of 18%, payments are "100% guaranteed", and after each lesson the fee is processed automatically and paid into the tutor's account within a few days. Tutors can move existing students onto the platform, and new tutors get platform guidance and the chance to practice on the whiteboard before their first lesson. The page pitches the work to university students, professional tutors and teachers who want a side income outside school hours.
Who It Suits
PMT fits a GCSE or A Level student who wants free, exam-board-specific revision material and is willing to pay for targeted help near the exams: a one-day technique course before the summer, or a run of one-to-one lessons with a vetted tutor. Parents get DBS-checked tutors, recorded lessons and a price range that starts at £20 an hour, and students from low-income families can apply for a free course place. Sixth formers applying to universities that set admissions tests will find tutors for those tests and for interviews, and qualified teachers or examiners looking for tutoring work get published terms, including the 18% fee.
The courses and resources follow GCSE, A Level and IB specifications and boards such as AQA, Edexcel and OCR, so they serve students in those qualifications rather than other national curricula. The A Level exam preparation courses were listed with dates still to be confirmed, so students may need to register interest and wait for the next run.
