ElimuApp is an e-learning platform for Kenyan school learners aged 4 to 18, with study resources for children and parents and an assessment side for teachers. Its home page calls it "Kenya's premier AI-powered e-learning platform" and says it offers curriculum-aligned resources, smart competency-based assessments and personalized learning for students and teachers. A family buys a yearly package for a child; a teacher uses the platform's assessment tools to set and mark school-based assessments and to see where learners are struggling.
Who builds it
ElimuApp is run by Online Tutors LTD. The About page describes the company as a team of experienced, practicing classroom teachers registered in Kenya as Online Tutors, and says the team includes professional educators and national examination examiners who regularly take part in marking Kenya's national examinations. That background matters for a product built around exam preparation: by the company's account, the team behind the revision material includes people who mark the real exams.
The company says its resources are designed in alignment with the goals of three bodies it names: the Ministry of Education, the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) and the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC). It describes its work as building ICT-based Teaching, Learning and Assessment (TLA) resources for schools, teachers, learners and parents across Kenya and the larger East African region. Its stated vision is to become "the leading digital education solutions provider in Africa," and its mission is to develop ICT-based teaching, learning and assessment resources that raise education quality and support curriculum goals.
What a learner gets
The learning side is built from familiar school materials put online. The home page lists learner-centered notes, past papers, worksheets, illustrations and assessments, and says they are designed to build understanding, strengthen core competencies and help every learner reach mastery. The platform frames its teaching around the learner-centered approach of the Kenyan curriculum, which the site sums up as building knowledge, skills, values, creativity, critical thinking and real-life problem-solving.
What a learner can open depends on the package. Every plan gives access to all subjects and standard practice quizzes. The middle plan adds class notes and explanations, so a child can read through a topic rather than only test themselves on it. The top plan adds advanced past papers and mock exams, plus live tutoring sessions, which makes it the plan aimed at a learner preparing for a national examination.
Assessment for teachers, with Xceed+
The second half of the product is for teachers. Under the heading "Assess. Measure. Support Mastery." the home page says ElimuApp and Xceed+ let teachers create accurate, curriculum-aligned, school-based CBA assessments that measure learner attainment. CBA is short for competency-based assessment, which the site elsewhere calls smart competency-based assessments. According to the site, those assessments then identify learning gaps, strengthen core competencies and support progress toward mastery.
Teachers and school staff have their own area on the platform, labeled the Staffroom, which sits alongside the grade bands for learners. A teacher therefore uses the same platform as the class: the teacher sets and reviews assessments, and the learners work through the notes, quizzes and papers.
Weak topics and a personal learning path
The section headed "No Learner Left Behind" describes what happens when a learner struggles with a learning area. ElimuApp and Xceed+, the site says, provide real-time assessments that identify learning gaps, recommend correctly calibrated revision resources and create a personalized learning path with targeted practice. In practice this joins the two halves of the product: an assessment result points to the topic a child is weak in, and the platform suggests revision material at the right level for that topic instead of a generic set of exercises.
For parents, the Professional and Premium packages include progress tracking, which is how a parent at home sees what the child has covered and where the assessments show weaknesses.
Grade bands
The home page shows content for every stage of Kenyan schooling, grouped into bands:
- Early: Pre-Primary 1-2
- Lower: Grade 1-3
- Middle: Grade 4-6
- Upper: Grade 7-9
- Senior: Grade 10-12
- Secondary: Form 1-4
A family with children in different stages can find material for each of them on one platform, from pre-primary to the end of school.
Packages and prices
ElimuApp publishes three yearly packages on its home page, priced in Kenyan shillings:
- Basic, Ksh 399 a year: access to all subjects and standard practice quizzes.
- Professional, Ksh 699 a year, marked as the most popular: all Basic features, plus class notes and explanations and progress tracking for parents.
- Premium, Ksh 1,000 a year: all Professional features, plus live tutoring sessions and advanced past papers and mocks.
The page presents these as packages chosen for a child. All three are yearly prices; the site shows no monthly option. The step from Basic to Professional is what turns the platform from a quiz bank into a study resource with notes and parent reporting, and the step to Premium is mainly about exam preparation and access to a live tutor.
Formats and access
The About page says Online Tutors delivers its learning through online platforms, mobile applications, video content, print materials and interactive educational tools, and lists mobile and web-based learning solutions among its services, alongside online educational support services and teaching and assessment tools for schools and home learners. The company says its aim is to make learning accessible, interactive, convenient and effective for both classroom and home-based learners. Families sign up and log in from the site, and the site also carries a resources section, a blog with articles for parents and a newsletter.
Who it suits
ElimuApp suits Kenyan parents who want low-cost, curriculum-aligned revision material for a child anywhere from pre-primary to Form 4, especially families who want past papers and mock exams written by people who mark national examinations. A parent who only wants practice quizzes across subjects can start on Basic, and move to Professional once notes, explanations and progress tracking are worth the Ksh 699 price. The Premium package, with live tutoring and advanced papers, fits a learner heading into a national exam. It also suits Kenyan teachers who need to set school-based competency assessments and want the results to point learners toward the right revision material.
The platform is built around the Kenyan curriculum and its bodies, so a learner following another country's system will find it a poor fit. The site does not name the individual subjects covered in each grade band, so a parent who needs a particular subject should look inside the platform before choosing a package.
