What Creative Courses Group is

Creative Courses Group is an online school of creative classes for children and teenagers, sold course by course to parents and homeschooling families. Its About page describes "A Dedicated Group of Expert Virtual Instructors" teaching arts, STEM, digital media and social skills "for Learners Age 6-18", and counts "50+ Visual Arts, Writing & S.T.E.A.M. Classes." The company says it is based in New York, with instructors located worldwide so that classes run across multiple time zones.

Classes come in three formats. Live online classes meet in small groups, most of them weekly, with some multi-week camps and a few private 1:1 sessions. Asynchronous, self-paced courses are a set number of video lessons a student works through alone. And a third menu, Instant Access Classes, covers fashion design and digital arts and animation. Every course card shows the age range, level, format, length and price in US dollars.

What children can study

The course menu is organized by discipline, with live and self-paced versions of most of them.

Drawing, anime and digital art. Drawing classes teach line work, shading, proportion and expression with traditional materials. Anime classes cover character design, expressions, action poses, shading, coloring and Chibi art, in styles the page names as Studio Ghibli, My Hero Academia, Sailor Moon and Demon Slayer. Digital art classes teach drawing, illustration and character design on screen. Examples: the self-paced Sailor Moon & Friends Anime Drawing course (ages 10-16, 12 lessons, $148) draws 14 characters, and a live Anime & Anthro Art Club (ages 10-15) meets weekly for $17.

2D and 3D art and animation. Intro to Blender 3D: Model & Animate (ages 9-18, 3 self-paced lessons, $44) teaches modeling and animation by building a custom sword. Animal Anatomy and Animation (ages 8-18, 15 lessons, $203) is listed as step 4 of an animation pathway. A live 5-day camp, Create 3D Anime in Blender & Vroid Studio (ages 12-17), costs $128. The About page names Procreate, Procreate Dreams, Blender, Flip-A-Clip, ZBrush, Unity and Scratch among the tools its classes use.

Clay sculpting. Polymer and air-dry clay classes for ages 6-18, many with a dragon theme: Polymer Clay Sculpting with 4 dragons (ages 7-16, 4 lessons, $59), single-lesson baby dragon projects at $24, and a live weekly Wings of Fire Dragon Clay Sculpting Club at $17.

Fashion design. The Fashion Design Full Course, taught by an FIT alum, covers sketching, concept and design skills in 5 self-paced lessons for $116, offered separately for ages 9-13 and ages 14-18. Fashion Accessories Design (4 lessons, $56) covers hats, scarves, belts, shoes, bags and jewelry.

Creative writing. Live writing classes cover story structure, character development, worldbuilding, dialogue, description and revision. The flagship is the Creative Writing Core Curriculum, a 22-week small-group course "blending core ELA skills with creative writing", priced at $390 and split by grade: grades 1-2, grades 3-4 and grades 5-7. The page says two sessions are offered each year. Shorter options include a 6-week short story course ($134), a 6-week Fantasy Story Writing Camp ($108), weekly writing clubs at $17 or $18, and a private 1:1 writing and publishing coach with a published author, listed at $65.

Art history. Weekly live classes such as Art Adventures Through Time ($13, in age groups 8-12 and 13-18), The Great Women Artists ($16), which covers 20+ women artists, and Hidden Heroes: African American History & Culture ($17). Each lesson ends with students making their own artwork inspired by what they studied.

Special effects and cosplay makeup. Self-paced Beginner Special Effects FX Makeup Level 1 (ages 7-17, 5 lessons, $70), taught by "an experienced professional face painter and special effects artist." A Level 2 course ($80) is marked Coming Soon.

STEAM, music and theater. S.T.E.A.M. Wizard Academy (ages 7-14, 8 lessons, $40) has students make potions, dragon eggs and secret messages through wizard-themed challenges. Musical theater, voice and acting classes have their own live menu.

Social groups

Social classes are a distinct part of the offer. Live clubs such as the Greek Mythology Roleplaying Game, Dress to Impress: Design Gaming Club for Roblox fans, and a Dragons, Beasts & Cryptids Art Club meet weekly in small groups for $16 or $17. The site describes them as "teacher-led, safe, and actively monitored." The Dragon's Lair chat group ($10 a month, ages 10-15) is a moderated chat room "available 24/7" where members write stories, share artwork and role-play together.

Standards and learning support

Every course page carries an "Aligned with National Core Arts Standards (NCAS)" section mapping the course to the four processes of creating, presenting, responding and connecting. The writing classes say they support "ELA, Common Core & homeschool learning goals."

Several instructor profiles list the learning needs they support. Nicole Anderson, who holds an MFA in Media Design and leads the writing core curriculum, lists ADHD, autism, dyslexia and anxiety; Holly Winter adds dyscalculia; Tanner Forbes mentions ADHD, anxiety and ASD. The writing page calls its classes "Great for ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, and anxious learners."

The instructors

The About page profiles the teaching team. Lori King holds degrees in fashion design, illustration and art history, and graphic design, and works as a special effects and polymer clay artist. Mr. Lathan is a music producer with "over 15 years in the music industry and more than 10 years of teaching experience", specializing in recording, mixing and mastering. Keanu Morales is an RIT film and animation graduate; Clara Stewart has an animation BFA from Lipscomb University and teaches in Procreate and Procreate Dreams; Charles Watkins teaches 3D modeling and animation; Regina Banks teaches music and theater with a degree from Howard University.

Paying for classes

Each class is bought on its own, at the price on its card. The company says it is approved as a state-level ESA provider, and that many of its live classes are available on Outschool, so families can use membership credits and ESA funding where eligible. The programs it lists include Arizona ESA ClassWallet, Florida Step-Up Scholarship, Louisiana GATOR, New York State CIRS, Utah FA, Indiana ESA and Wyoming ESA, among others.

What parents say

The Parent Reviews page quotes families by first name and initial. One parent writes that a 12 year old son "LOVED the instruction and projects. Lori explains things well and adds great story elements to each class." Another says of a teacher that he "has a natural cadence for teaching" and can "be super silly and authentically engage." A third writes that a daughter "has been in this class since 2020 and she's made some wonderful friends spread out across the US & Canada." On the Sailor Moon class, a parent notes that "The teacher responded quickly with encouraging words every week when she turned in her drawings for review."

Who it suits

Creative Courses Group suits parents of a creative child who wants more than a generic art class: a dragon-sculpting club, a Blender camp, a fashion design course or a Roblox-themed design club. Homeschooling families get NCAS-aligned courses, a 22-week writing core curriculum and the option to pay with ESA funds. Children with ADHD, autism, dyslexia or anxiety can pick instructors who state experience with those needs. No prior experience is required for most classes.

It is a weaker fit for a teenager preparing a serious art school portfolio across one structured program, since the catalog is a set of separate classes and clubs rather than one curriculum, and self-paced courses run without a live teacher.
