What 88tuition is
88tuition is an online tuition service for Singapore students, run by 88tuition Pte Ltd, that teaches the school syllabus through recorded video lessons, computer-aided assessments and worksheets refreshed every week. It is a learner product for families: a parent signs up, the child picks a level and subjects, and the work happens at home on the child's own schedule. The levels run from Pre School through Primary 1 to 6 and Secondary 1 to 4, and the subjects are Mathematics, English, Science and Chinese.
The company's About Us text says it was "established with the social objective of making quality video-based learning material available to all Singapore students", and that with technology, connectivity and social media changing education, "we wish to lead the transformation of the tuition industry in Singapore." The home page claims scale as well, inviting families to "Join our family of 100,000+ students".
Exam preparation is the frame for everything. The site's page title presents it as "Trusted #1 Primary & Secondary Tuition Singapore" and "PSLE Tuition Online", the footer links a dedicated PSLE Tuition page, and an article in its Resources section describes the choice parents face among learning platforms "for P1-PSLE-'O' Level exams".
What a student gets
The core of the product is a library of recorded lessons with practice built around it. The home page counts more than 8,000 videos, more than 5,000 assessments and more than 75,000 questions. Lessons are organized by level and subject, and the course menu can be browsed either way, from Pre School up to Secondary 4 or from one subject across the levels. Parents can view the complete curriculum of each subject along with demo videos before committing.
Practice runs on two tracks. Computer-aided assessments test the student inside the platform, and worksheets made from the latest exam questions are, in the site's words, "updated every week". Both sit under the company's syllabus promise: "We give our best to the students by ensuring that our curriculum strictly adheres to the MOE syllabus." For a parent, that means the platform follows the same syllabus the child's school teaches rather than a general enrichment curriculum. The company's own resource article puts the role plainly: online learning platforms "help children gain a better understanding of the subjects they have learned at school", so 88tuition is positioned as reinforcement for school lessons, not a replacement for them.
The model is self-directed. In its section on personalized learning, the home page says "Students have complete control over their learning", from reviewing difficult sections to going through guided assessment videos to learn from their mistakes. A student who struggles with a topic can go back to it as often as needed, and a wrong answer leads to a guided video rather than just a score.
Parents are part of the design. A data dashboard, the site says, "shows students and parents the steps to take to secure top scores in the exams". The parent sees the same progress picture as the child, which helps a family keep track of practice without sitting beside the child for every session.
The teaching is credited to a named team. The home page says "Our team of highly qualified and experienced tutors combine knowledge and humor to help students perform at their best and ace the exams", and links to an Our Tutors page where families can meet them. Because the lessons are recorded, a student can rewatch an explanation until it makes sense, which is the main advantage of this format over a weekly class.
Recorded courses are not the only format. The main menu lists LIVE Tutorials as a separate section beside Courses, along with Pricing and a Student Success! page. The site also runs a Library and a Resources section of short articles for parents and students, on topics such as PSLE preparation, building English vocabulary, memory in PSLE math and staying focused while studying. One of those articles sets out what the company thinks parents should check in any platform: "the qualification of the tutors, the effectiveness of the platform and the ease in which parents can monitor their kid's progress."
Pricing and the free trial
The site publishes its entry price on the home page: "Prices start from $9 per subject per month!" The fine print beside it explains how that works:
- Prices are in SGD for one year from the payment date.
- A free upgrade is included at the end of the academic year.
- Prices shown are before any discount, and multiple discounts cannot be used together.
- Each package is valid for unlimited use by a single student.
On top of that, holders of POSB and DBS cards get a 10% discount. Put together, the $9 is a Singapore-dollar figure quoted per subject per month, while the purchase itself is a one-year package for one child. A family with two children studying would buy for each child separately, and the cost grows with the number of subjects chosen.
Before paying, families can try the platform. The home page offers "Enjoy 6 Free Lessons", with the note that the trial is limited to 7 days. Signing up asks for a parent's name, an email address, a password and a mobile number with a country code, followed by a one-time password check. After the trial, the site says, families "choose from our affordable packages to continue". The home page publishes no refund terms, and the full package list sits on a separate pricing page.
Who it suits
88tuition suits Singapore families whose children follow the MOE syllabus, from preschool through Secondary 4, and who want steady, structured practice for school tests, the PSLE and the secondary years. It works best for a student who can study alone with recorded lessons, rewatch what was unclear and work through question banks, and for a parent who wants to follow progress on a dashboard rather than supervise every session. The entry price and the free trial make it a low-risk way to add support in one subject before committing to more.
It suits less well a family following a different curriculum, since the content is built around the MOE syllabus, or a child who needs a tutor's full attention in every session, although the LIVE Tutorials section is there for families who want a live format. Families who want subjects beyond math, English, science and Chinese will also find the range limited to those four.
