What Craft And Hobby is

Craft And Hobby is a video-on-demand learning site for people who make things at home. The home page describes it as "the largest resource of video-on-demand learning in the craft and hobby space" and promises step-by-step tutorials "in 20 different creative interests," to be learned at your own pace. Rather than one school with one teaching team, it brings together content from named craft and hobby brands, each responsible for its own subject: National Sewing Circle for sewing, The Knitting Circle for knitting, Creative Crochet Corner for crochet, National Quilters Circle for quilting, Outdoor Photography Guide for photography, Woodworkers Guild of America for woodworking, Get Healthy U TV for fitness, and Creative Cake Design for cake decorating. A Craftsy section and Craftsy en Español sit in the same library, and the kids' content comes from Cricket Media's Sensical video library. Members sign in to a Craft And Hobby account.

The subjects

The menu splits the library into two halves. Crafts covers knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, painting, drawing, kids, en Español, jewelry making, paper crafting, embroidery, and weaving and spinning. Hobbies covers baking, cooking, photography, woodworking, fitness, cake decorating, gardening and home décor. The home page then introduces each area in a few lines, and those descriptions say a fair amount about the level and style of teaching.

Sewing, knitting, crochet and quilting. These are the deepest areas and the most clearly tied to a partner brand. The sewing section offers on-demand classes and video tutorials from National Sewing Circle for "making beautiful garments, decor, and more," and says learners can pick up the skills they need "No matter your sewing level." The Knitting Circle teaches "everything from basic to advanced stitches" through step-by-step demonstrations and on-demand classes. Creative Crochet Corner offers step-by-step tutorials with "new videos added regularly." National Quilters Circle provides on-demand video tutorials and step-by-step demonstrations for quilters, under the line "Made by you. Made with love."

Painting and drawing. These sections are pitched at beginners. Painting is presented as "a fun, approachable way to explore color and creativity; no experience required," with a focus on "learning through play" for people picking up a brush for the first time or trying new techniques. Drawing covers quick sketches, detailed illustrations and imaginative doodles, and the painting section encourages learners to discover new textures, ideas and a style of their own.

Photography and woodworking. Outdoor Photography Guide contributes "an extensive collection of on-demand classes and videos" on photographing the natural world outdoors, taught by the professionals behind that brand. Woodworkers Guild of America teaches through guided videos and demonstrations, "From beginner to advanced," with the aim of making handmade pieces built to last.

Cooking, baking and cake decorating. Cooking runs "from quick weeknight meals to ambitious culinary experiments," with basic techniques such as chopping and sautéing along the way, and baking from "flakey pastries to decadent cakes and rustic breads." Creative Cake Design teaches cake decorating through "easy-to-follow, on-demand classes" taught by culinary professionals.

Paper crafting and jewelry making. Paper crafting covers intricate cards, handmade journals and stamping techniques. Jewelry making ranges from delicate earrings to bold statement pieces.

Fitness. Get Healthy U TV supplies at-home workout videos, health tips and fitness inspiration, with guidance from its professional trainers.

Spanish and kids. The en Español section notes that "Craftsy en Español provides step-by-step videos and tutorials to the Spanish-speaking crafting community." The Kids section offers "safe and enriching tutorials from Cricket Media’s Sensical video library," with what it calls "developmentally appropriate classes for ages 2–13." The projects are hands-on crafts and creative activities for children, and the page says they are designed to build learning and confidence.

Collections and series

Beyond the subject pages, the home page groups videos into themed collections that work as ready-made starting points. Several are beginner tracks: Learn to Sew, Learn to Knit, Learn to Crochet, Learn to Quilt, Learn to Draw, Learn to Paint, Learn Papercraft, Learn to Cook, Beginner Level Learning, and Photography Made Simple. Two are built as day-by-day programs, a 14 Day Learn to Knit series and a 28-Day Beginner Workout. Seasonal and themed collections include National Sewing Month Essentials, Handmade Halloween, Homemade Projects for Every Celebration, Cozy Cooking, Grow Smarter, Garden Better, Health and Wellness Tutorials, Startup Libraries, and Kids Crafts from Cricket Media’s Sensical Library. A New Releases row shows what has been added recently, and the site was running a "Celebrate Hobby Month" feature on its home page.

The Craftsy page shows how browsing works inside a brand's catalog. Classes can be sorted by date (new to old or old to new), alphabetically, or by instructor last name. The listing there includes "Sewing Vintage: The Flirty Day Dress," a class by Laura Nash marked "Gold Exclusive."

Access and support

Members sign in with an email address and password, and the sign-in form offers to keep members logged in for 90 days. The menu includes a Live section, an About Us page, a Contact Us page and a Frequently Asked Questions page, and the footer links an Accessibility Statement. The home page shows no prices. The footer also carries a plain safety notice: all activities a member undertakes "are your own responsibility and are performed at your own risk," a fair reminder on a site that teaches woodworking and at-home workouts.

Who it suits

Craft And Hobby suits a home crafter who likes to try more than one thing. The same site covers sewing and quilting, knitting and crochet, painting and drawing, woodworking, photography, cooking, baking and cake decorating, gardening and fitness, so someone who quilts in winter and gardens in spring can find both in one place. The beginner collections and the 14-day and 28-day programs give a structured way in for newcomers, while the sewing, knitting and woodworking libraries run up to advanced level. Parents can use the Kids section for ages 2 to 13, and Spanish speakers have their own section through Craftsy en Español.

The model is a video library rather than a class with a teacher: the home page describes step-by-step videos, demonstrations and on-demand classes, so it fits learners who are comfortable following along on their own. For a crafter who wants many hobbies under one roof, taught by brands that specialize in each, it is a practical choice.
