What ScormStack is

ScormStack is a browser-based, visual SCORM authoring tool. The FAQ describes it as a tool "for instructional designers, training teams and educators" to build interactive courses without coding, create and refine content with AI, manage translations, and publish to an LMS or share online. Courses are assembled from blocks rather than slides, and the finished course goes out as a SCORM, xAPI or cmi5 package, as HTML, or as a trackable link or embed. The home page invites visitors to "Join 10,000+ learning professionals using ScormStack," describes the product as hosted in Europe, and carries short customer videos in French and English alongside a testimonial from the Conservatoire de Paris. A developer API and an MCP connection let teams and AI assistants create and edit courses programmatically.

Building a course from blocks

A course is a structure of sections and lessons filled with blocks. The article on the entry plan lists the core block types that Basic already includes:

  • text blocks with headings, lists and emphasis;
  • image blocks for photos, diagrams and infographics;
  • video blocks with captions and markers;
  • audio blocks for podcasts, narration and sound clips;
  • assessment blocks for multiple-choice, true/false and other question types;
  • interactive elements such as accordions, tabs, callouts and flash cards;
  • navigation blocks for buttons, separators and flow control.

The editor is responsive, so a course adapts to every screen, and the feature list adds course navigation, adaptive learning, folder management and search and replace. Branding works through themes: you build one with your colors and Google Fonts or uploaded custom fonts, save it, and apply it across every course. For review, you invite teammates and clients to the latest version, leave contextual comments tied to a slide or a specific block, and move feedback through a review board.

AI drafting

The AI course assistant starts from a topic description plus any reference documents you add. You review the learning objectives and outline it proposes, then generate slides, content and assessments, and everything stays editable so you can check accuracy and adjust the structure before publishing. Inside the editor the assistant can draft slides, rewrite text, generate images and produce captions and transcripts. AI features belong to the Pro plan; the article on the entry plan explains that image and caption generation are expensive to run and are reserved for Pro.

Importing existing courses

ScormStack can take in SCORM packages exported from Articulate Rise or Easygenerator and turn them into editable ScormStack courses. For Rise, it converts lessons, interactions, knowledge checks, quizzes, media and attachments into native blocks; for Easygenerator, common content blocks, assessments, media and interactive layouts. Theme settings carry over, and the FAQ advises reviewing complex interactions and layouts after the mapping before you publish.

Publishing, Dynamic SCORM and tracking

The FAQ lists SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI and cmi5 exports, plus HTML for web delivery. You pick the format your learning platform supports and configure completion and scoring, and the FAQ recommends testing an export in your own LMS before rollout. Dynamic SCORM, on Pro, changes the update cycle: you upload the package to your LMS once, then publish later changes from ScormStack, and learners see the latest content the next time they launch the course. Because Dynamic SCORM relies on hosted content, a fully bundled export is still available when you need a package that stands on its own.

Courses can also live outside an LMS. You share a public link or embed the course on a website in an iFrame, and with Pro you switch on learner tracking to see progress, completion and scores, optionally asking learners for an email address to tie results to individuals. Analytics cover learner progress and course engagement.

For developers, the REST API creates courses, reads and updates blocks, syncs content and triggers exports, with webhooks for connecting workflows, and the MCP connection lets an AI assistant create courses and edit content from a conversation. A company blog post walks through building a course with an AI agent and the API.

Multilingual courses

Localization is a core feature. On Pro you manage several languages inside one course with a shared structure: translate manually, use AI to speed up translation, or exchange XLIFF files with professional translators, and adapt images, videos and other resources for each language. The course then ships either as a single multilingual package with a language selector or as separate exports per locale. The home page shows Spanish, English, German, French and Irish as examples, and the feature list includes support for right-to-left languages. Lisa Rodriguez, an instructional designer at LR Learning, says ScormStack "lets us manage multiple languages in a single course and use AI to accelerate translation, without maintaining separate versions."

Plans and prices

The site's article on its entry plan sets out the two tiers:

  • Basic, $5 a month billed annually or $10 month-to-month: 250 content blocks, 5 SCORM exports a month, all core block types, and "No artificial expiration." Exports carry a small "Built with ScormStack" badge, and Basic has no HTML export, asset bundling or AI features.
  • Pro: unlimited blocks and SCORM exports, HTML export, asset bundling, AI features, optional branding, unlimited locales and advanced analytics, plus Dynamic SCORM, multilingual courses and learner tracking as described in the FAQ.

The Pro price is not given on the home page or in that article. The home page offers "30 days free, no credit card required", and the article says you can create an account and try the editor before choosing a publishing plan. Its getting-started steps end with uploading the package to test in Moodle, Open edX or whatever LMS you use, and it puts a simple course at under an hour. The footer lists WCAG compliance under accessibility.

Benoit Lambert of the Conservatoire de Paris calls it "highly customizable, with many integration options and a technical service that always finds a solution."

Who it suits

ScormStack fits instructional designers, freelancers and training teams who want a visual, block-based editor that exports standard SCORM for any LMS, and who value a review workflow with clients and colleagues. The Basic plan is aimed, in the company's words, at portfolio builders, freelancers testing the market, educators on a budget and small businesses with one or two training modules a quarter. Pro is the plan for multilingual programs, courses that change often enough to benefit from Dynamic SCORM, and teams that want to track learners through a link with no LMS at all.

It is a lighter fit for a Basic user who wants AI generation or HTML output, since both are reserved for Pro, and teams leaving Rise or Easygenerator should budget time to check complex interactions after import.
