What ScormHero is

ScormHero is a web-based SCORM converter and course editor. You upload a PowerPoint, PDF or video, add quizzes, narration, recorded explanations and your branding in the browser, then download a SCORM package to upload to your LMS. The home page calls it "The easiest e-learning authoring tool to create a scorm-compliant course from PowerPoint, videos, documents, or from scratch." The company's own blog positions it as a converter first: most people who want a SCORM course already have the content in PowerPoint, and turning that into a tracked LMS course is the job ScormHero is built for. It runs in the browser with nothing to install. ScormHero, Inc. lists an address in Wilmington, Delaware, and its co-founder, Maurício Pradella, writes on the home page that he built it after years of struggling with authoring tools that had to be installed on a computer and cost too much. The blog says that since 2019 the company has "processed over 330,000 conversions for 34,800+ authors across 120+ countries," and the home page says courses are compatible with "over 100+ LMS." It names edtech startups, learning agencies, freelancers and Fortune 500 companies among its users and says a new account takes under 2 minutes to start.

Converting content

Three converters do the core work:

  • PowerPoint to SCORM: upload a PPT or PPTX and download a SCORM 1.2 or 2004 package. If a deck uses special fonts, the FAQ's fix is to save it as a PDF as well and upload both files together, and audio has to be embedded in the presentation to come through.
  • PDF to SCORM: every page becomes a slide, keeping the original layout and fonts.
  • Video to SCORM: wraps an MP4, MOV or WMV file so the LMS can track completion.

The blog is candid about the main limitation. PowerPoint animations do not survive conversion, and slides become "static, high-fidelity frames." The pricing FAQ confirms that this holds on every plan, Pro included, and the blog notes it is the single most common thing people write in about. You can still add hyperlinks to external sites while building the course, so slides can point learners to outside resources.

Building on top of the slides

Once the content is in, the editor adds the parts that turn a deck into a course. Assessments use matching, fill-in-the-blank, essay and multiple-choice or multiple-answer questions, with ordering also named on the blog, and Auto-Fill AI generates answer choices for any question you write. You can record short explanation videos from your camera directly in the browser, generate voice-overs with text-to-speech "in a variety of languages," and, according to the blog, add closed captions and certificates. Branding is a company logo and a theme color applied with a single click, and the plan table lists learning blocks, added media, compression options and course sharing alongside the converters.

A Form page type, announced in an April 2026 post as live on every plan, embeds Typeform and Google Forms at any point in a course. You paste a share URL and ScormHero detects the provider, with no API key or setup. Authors use it for post-course reviews, NPS and satisfaction surveys, pre-course intake questions, compliance attestation and lead capture for free courses. For Typeform, ScormHero passes the learner's name, ID, course title and course ID as hidden fields, so responses arrive tagged with who sent them and which course they came from.

SCORM output

Exports default to SCORM 1.2, and you can choose SCORM 2004 3rd or 4th Edition instead. The blog recommends 1.2 unless your LMS asks for 2004 and says 86% of its users choose it. One limit matters for reporting: the pricing FAQ states that the SCORM package "only reports the final user score. It does not send detailed interaction data such as user responses or question-level tracking." That covers completion and pass-fail compliance tracking, but a team that analyzes question-by-question results inside its LMS will need another route for that data.

Plans and prices

The pricing page offers monthly and yearly billing, with prices shown per month:

  • Free, "For hobbies," US$ 0: 3 conversions a month, 3 workspaces and a 100 MB upload limit.
  • Starter, "For individuals or freelancers," US$ 29 a month: 20 conversions a month, 20 workspaces, 1 GB uploads and email support within 24h.
  • Pro, "For growing business," US$ 49 a month: 50 conversions a month, 50 workspaces, 2 GB uploads and email support within 12h.
  • Hero, "For large businesses or agencies," US$ 129 a month: unlimited conversions, 500 workspaces, 5 GB uploads and email support within 8h.

The blog describes the free tier as "a real, ongoing free tier with limits" rather than a trial, and each paid plan starts with a free trial. Subscriptions can be canceled "any time, no questions asked," with no additional fees, and a separate page covers plans for teams with multiple authors. The site also publishes GDPR and data processing agreement pages, and the site itself is available in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Customer quotes on the home page come from trainers, consultants and product leads. A training specialist likes "the ability to drag and drop PowerPoint presentations into the software and modify the information once converted." A senior director of product management writes that "PDF to SCORM conversion is a major win to make passive content available in our LMS," a head of product says it "allows us to embed courses in our external web pages quickly," and a senior training and OD lead appreciates "that they let you try it out before making a decision."

Who it suits

ScormHero fits anyone who already has training in slides, PDFs or videos and needs it tracked in an LMS quickly: HR and compliance teams refreshing policy courses, freelancers and agencies converting client decks (the Hero plan is pitched at agencies), and educators moving classroom material online. The free plan is enough to convert a few files a month and see how a package behaves in your own LMS, and the Form page adds feedback and attestation without another tool.

It is a lighter fit for courses that depend on PowerPoint animations, complex branching scenarios or question-level analytics in the LMS, limits the company flags itself. Teams converting many courses a month will want the Pro or Hero limits.
