What QuikAuthor is

QuikAuthor is an AI-assisted authoring tool for short, interactive training, built, in its own words, "for people who are not full-time instructional designers." You give it a policy document, a handbook, a training video or a one-line description, and it drafts a course with lessons, interactions and quiz questions that you then edit in a template-based builder. The finished course can go out as a SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 package for any compliant LMS, as HTML for the web or as a PDF, or it can be assigned to staff directly from QuikAuthor by email or link. The home page frames the whole product around microlearning: "it takes an afternoon to build, not a project plan." It names small business owners, product and operations teams, HR, consultants and coaches, freelance trainers and educators as its users, with solution pages for onboarding, compliance, health and safety, DEI, sales enablement and upskilling. The site's business details give an address in Brighton, GB, and one page describes the company as "a small team."

Four ways to build a course

The authoring page sets out four routes in:

  • AI video to course: upload a training video and QuikAuthor transcribes it, splits it into segments and generates interactive lessons with quizzes and activities. You can edit the transcript, adjust the breakpoints and export with subtitles.
  • AI PDF to course: drop in a policy, a manual or a presentation (the home page also accepts Word documents) and the AI turns it into a structured course with games and quizzes.
  • AI course generator: describe what you want to teach, review the structure the AI proposes, prompt refinements, then build.
  • Build from scratch: open a blank course and fill 70+ pre-designed interactive slide templates with your own content and colors.

Whatever the route, the AI structures the lessons, picks a template for each section and writes the quiz questions from your source material. Editing happens in one of two modes. Designer View gives drag-and-drop editing with a live preview, and Clean View puts the content in plain form fields "without making design decisions," which is what lets a subject-matter expert correct a draft without touching layout.

Templates, branching and branding

The 70+ templates include game formats rather than only text and image slides. Named examples are a Millionaire Quiz with lifelines and escalating difficulty, a Swipe Game for true-or-false decisions, a Memory Game for matching pairs, Drag and Drop for categorizing and sequencing, a Confidence Slider where learners rate their certainty before the answer is revealed, Bullseye target scoring, timed Quick Fire rounds, and Test Out, which lets experienced learners prove competency and skip ahead. Branching scenarios use skip logic, confidence-based branching and test-out functions, so people who know the material move on and people who are struggling get more support. A wrong answer gets an instant explanation.

Branding is set at account, course or lesson level with inheritance, so colors, logos and fonts carry across every course once they are defined. AI translation builds one project in several languages, with automatic detection of the language spoken in a video. The product menu also lists an AI avatar video tool, an AI video editor, a compliance builder and team collaboration.

SCORM export and imports

SCORM is the center of the product. QuikAuthor exports SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 (4th Edition) on every plan, including the free one. You choose how completion is recorded (visiting every slide, passing a minimum score, or both) and set the pass mark for each assessment. Each package reports scores, completion, time spent and bookmark data back to the LMS, and every export is validated against the SCORM schema before download. Single lessons can be exported as standalone packages, so one updated lesson can be redeployed without touching the rest of a course. The site lists Moodle, TalentLMS, Cornerstone, SAP SuccessFactors, LearnUpon, Docebo, Absorb LMS and Totara among compatible systems and says "no LMS-specific configuration is needed."

On the import side, courses built in QuikAuthor can always be reopened, edited and re-exported. A dedicated ingestion pipeline rebuilds exported EdApp and SafetyCulture (SC Training) SCORM 1.2 zip files as fully editable courses: it strips the old platform's interface assets, maps the slides onto QuikAuthor templates with an AI pass, then runs "over 30 deterministic code passes" to check that list items, quiz questions and media survive. That converter is free to test for 30 days; converted courses are removed after the trial unless an annual license is bought, and ongoing editing of those imports is available only on annual plans. A separate converter imports Articulate Rise courses as editable lessons. For SCORM packages from other tools, the site's advice is to re-author the course from the original document or recording.

Assign, track and prove

QuikAuthor also delivers training itself. Its four-step loop is create, assign, track and prove: send a course by email or link with nothing for the learner to install, watch progress, pass rates and individual question responses across people and teams, and pull completion records the moment a compliance check, an audit or an HR review calls for them. Learners can also use the QuikAuthor learner app on iOS and Android, which the site says offers push notifications and offline access. Lessons are designed mobile-first and render on desktop, tablet and mobile.

Plans and prices

Pricing is a flat fee rather than per learner:

  • Free: 25 courses, unlimited lessons, up to 50 monthly active learners and 10 lifetime SCORM exports, with no credit card. AI course authoring and all 70+ templates are included.
  • PRO: $69 per month or $799 per year for one author and 200 monthly active learners, with unlimited courses and unlimited SCORM export.
  • TEAM: $2,000 per year, described as collaboration for 3 authors and enhanced features, also with unlimited SCORM export.

The site says its hosting is "designed for 99.9% uptime" and built for GDPR-aligned data handling, with encryption, backups and data location covered on a separate security page, and the product description in its page data lists enterprise SSO support through SAML and OAuth2.

Reviewers quoted on the home page include a freelance instructional designer who writes, "I've worked with eLearning tools for over 30 years and this is easier to work with than anything I've tried before," and a CEO who says, "We built our entire staff onboarding programme in an afternoon."

Who it suits

QuikAuthor fits small and mid-sized organizations that hold their training in documents and recordings and want short, gamified courses out of them quickly: onboarding, compliance and health and safety in particular, where the completion records matter. It suits freelance instructional designers and consultants who need to turn a client's material into a SCORM package in days, and teams that inherited EdApp or SafetyCulture SCORM exports and want to keep editing them. The free plan is large enough to run a real pilot with a small team.

It is lighter for teams that want a ready-made course library, since everything starts from your own content, and for organizations with many authors, where TEAM's three seats set the starting point.
