OptimizePress

Tap a star to rate

OptimizePress is a suite of WordPress plugins for creators who sell their own digital products, courses or consulting services from their own website. It combines a drag-and-drop page builder, a visual funnel builder, a checkout plugin and a course and membership plugin called OptimizeMentor, so a coach or expert can build the sales page, take the payment and deliver the course without leaving WordPress. The homepage calls it "the all-in-one page builder loved by coaches and online experts", and the company says it has served creators, solopreneurs, freelancers and digital marketers "for over 10 years".

Because it runs on WordPress, you need your own hosting. The landing-pages page says this "gives you full control and privacy over your business and web assets without reliance on expensive SaaS platforms". That is the core trade: no monthly SaaS bill, in exchange for running your own site.

The plugins in the suite

The pricing page lists the plugins by name:

  • OptimizeBuilder (Page Builder): drag-and-drop editing for landing pages, sales pages and website pages. It works with any WordPress theme.
  • OptimizeFunnels: a visual funnel canvas for lead and sales funnels, with upsells and downsells, split testing and funnel stats. The homepage calls it "the first visual funnel builder for WordPress".
  • OptimizeCheckouts: checkout pages on your own site that accept Stripe and PayPal, with order bumps, upsells and additional offers for digital products, services and subscriptions.
  • OptimizeMentor: the course and membership plugin, used to "create beautiful online courses, premium membership sites and hubs and protect these pages for your paying members only".
  • ThemeBuilder: drag-and-drop design for the blog and the rest of the site.
  • OptimizeUrgency: real-time activity and sales alerts on your pages to add scarcity.
  • OptimizeLeads: opt-in forms and banners that can be added to any website with a code snippet.
  • Flow: automation of WordPress processes without third-party tools.
  • ConversionDash: an overview of your top converting pages.

Courses and memberships with OptimizeMentor

For a course creator, OptimizeMentor is the part that matters. The homepage says online courses and membership sites can be "fully customizable to match your brand and website", and that members-only pages are protected so only paying members see them. Courses are built in the same OptimizeBuilder as the rest of the site, so the course pages, the sales page and the checkout share one look. The landing-pages page describes a course dashboard that gives "an overview of your online course stats including number of members & courses", and says you can "build as many courses as you want on your own website".

Selling runs through OptimizeCheckouts. The landing-pages page says it accepts credit cards and PayPal directly on your site "with no additional fees", on top of the annual license. Subscriptions are supported, which is how a membership site charges monthly. Order bumps and upsells add extra offers at checkout, and funnels let you put a free lead magnet or webinar registration in front of the course offer.

Template types on the homepage include webinar registration pages, webinar thank-you pages, a masterclass webinar registration page, video sales pages, product launch pages, eBook lead magnet opt-ins and membership site templates. The homepage lists online courses, digital downloads, paid webinars and online events, consulting and physical products among the things you can sell.

The pages describe a course as protected, branded content inside a membership. A creator who needs quizzes, graded assignments or completion certificates should check the Mentor feature list before buying, because these pages do not cover them.

Plans and prices

The pricing page lists three annual plans, each priced "excluding tax":

  • Launch: $129 a year, shown as "Normally $199 Save $70", renewing annually at $129. It installs on 1 site and covers the page builder, unlimited landing pages, sales pages and website pages, templates and 24/5 support. It does not include courses.
  • Scale (marked Most Popular): $199 a year, shown as "Normally $299 Save $100", renewing at $199. It installs on 5 sites and adds every plugin in the suite (Builder, Funnels, Checkouts, Urgency, Mentor, Flow), ThemeBuilder with 3 premium theme designs, unlimited funnels, and membership sites and courses.
  • Agency tier (the third plan): $249 a year, shown as "Normally $399 Save $150", renewing at $249. It installs on 25 sites, adds use on client websites (subject to agency terms), pro themes for agencies and premium template collections.

So a creator who wants to sell courses needs Scale or the $249 agency tier; Launch is a landing-page plan. The comparison table also sets allowances by plan: 200, 400 and 600+ templates; 50 integrations on every plan; 50, 60 and 60 Pro builder elements; 50, 100 and 100 pre-made conversion blocks; and personal template storage of 10, 25 and 50.

Payment is by any major credit card or PayPal, and the page says payment information is protected by "256-bit SSL encryption". The pricing page offers a "30 Day Money Back Guarantee": "Try OptimizePress risk free for 30 days and if you don't like it, just ask for your money back." The landing-pages page gives 14 days in its guarantee box instead, so check the window at checkout.

Integrations

The integrations page says OptimizePress works "with over 60 of the most popular applications for email marketing, website analytics, affiliate tracking and payments". The email services it lists include ActiveCampaign, AWeber, Campaign Monitor, Campaign Refinery, ConvertKit, Drip, Emma, GetResponse, Infusionsoft and Keap, MailChimp, MailerLite, Sendlane, Ontraport, Constant Contact, E-goi, iContact, LeadLovers, Mad Mimi, Mautic, Klick Tipp, SendFox, BirdSend, MailPoet, Sendy and FluentCRM. For SendReach, the page notes the integration is live but the platform appears to be offline.

Videos can come from Wistia, Vimeo or YouTube, with options to customize the player. An Unsplash integration gives access to "over 1,000,000 royalty free photos". A Zapier integration connects opt-in forms to "over 1000 marketing services", for example to send opt-ins to a spreadsheet or a CRM.

Speed, compliance and support

The homepage says pages are built for speed and that "typically most pages will score 90+ in PageSpeed testing" without extra plugins. The landing-pages page lists mobile responsive templates, 2-step signup forms, and "GDPR ready forms" with built-in compliance features for sites serving the EU.

Support on every plan is listed as email support 24/5, with access to OptimizeCommunity and OptimizeUniversity training. The landing-pages page also mentions monthly coaching webinars and office hours, and regular product updates. The site shows "Rated 4.8 based on 1,124+ reviews", and the pricing page carries a "Best Customer Support Winner" badge. One customer on the pricing page writes that support answered on a Saturday; another, Paul Clegg, writes that he produced a landing page "in less than 30 minutes from scratch and without reading any instructions".

Who it suits

OptimizePress suits a coach, consultant or expert who already runs a WordPress site, wants the marketing pages, funnels, checkout and course area in one suite, and prefers one annual fee with no transaction fee on sales. The Scale plan covers a creator with a few sites; the $249 tier covers an agency building funnels and course sites for clients.

It suits less well someone who does not want to manage WordPress hosting, or an academy that needs deep LMS features such as graded assessments and certificates, which these pages do not describe. For a creator whose priority is selling a course well, with strong pages and upsells around it, it is a capable and affordable choice.
