What STS is
STS Sauter Training & Simulation SA is a project management training company in Lausanne, Switzerland. Its main business, for the readers of this directory, is certification preparation: courses and practice tools that get project managers ready for the PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP, IPMA, PRINCE2, GPM-b, DASM and Half Double exams. The homepage title sums up the pitch as "Certify Your Project Management Skills with STS: PMI and IPMA Accredited Training", and the home page adds that "All our courses are recognized by and registered at PMI or IPMA and you'll get a certificate of completion once you finish the course."
The company describes its approach in one phrase, "Our leitmotiv is learning by doing", and it builds its own tools to match: the X-AM exam simulators, the SimulTrain simulation, a set of e-learning courses and assessment tools, all of which it says are "translated into different languages". The site itself runs in English, French and German.
STS splits its offer by audience. Companies see tailor-made training, short courses, coaching and consulting. Individuals see public courses and certification preparation. Schools and partners get their own section and a partner platform. The news section also carries a post dated March 31, 2023, titled "STS ACQUISITIONNED BY HEMSLEY FRASER", so the company reports itself as part of Hemsley Fraser since then.
Certification preparation
The certification courses are grouped by experience. For professionals with three or more years of experience, STS lists PMP and IPMA Level C-A preparation. For practitioners with zero to three years, the individual menu lists CAPM, IPMA Level D, GPM-b Green Project Management, PRINCE2, PMI-ACP, DASM and Half Double certification. The company menu carries a slightly shorter list for the same practitioner level (IPMA Level D, GPM-b, PMI-ACP and DASM), so the full range shows up on the individual side.
The home page names five preparation courses directly: the IPMA Level D Preparation course, the PMI-ACP Virtual course, the CAPM Preparation course, the IPMA Level C-A Preparation course and the PMP Preparation course. In STS's words, "The focus of these professional trainings is to prepare candidates to pass the certification exam." The page argues that a project management certification gives "a legitimate proof of your capabilities and experience" as well as a career boost.
The events calendar shows how the classroom side runs. PMP certification training by STS appears as a public course in English, scheduled as full days from 8:00 to 17:00, and a Green Project Management Basic GPM-b certification course is listed in the same format. The calendar entries visible on the home page are from 2024, so a candidate should check the current dates when booking.
The footer lists the PMI material STS works with, including the PMBOK Guide, PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP and PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP), together with PMI's trademark notice covering the PMI Authorized Training Partner logo.
X-AM and the other learning tools
X-AM is the part most relevant to exam candidates. STS says it developed these exam simulators "to help certification candidates in their preparation for the exam", and describes them this way: "The tools are designed to simulate a close-to-real environment, enabling candidates to practice, review and learn from their own mistakes, while always monitoring the progress." In practice that means practice in conditions that resemble the real test, a review of each attempt, and a progress record over time.
SimulTrain is the company's simulation tool for project work. STS runs product presentations of it, scheduled from 14:00 to 16:00, with separate sessions in English ("Discover SimulTrain"), German ("Entdecken Sie SimulTrain") and French ("Découvre SimulTrain"). Assessment tools round out the set. Each of the main tools has its own login on the site: eLearning, SimulTrain, a Trainer platform and a Partner platform.
The e-learning courses are the self-study route. STS writes that its "digital learning contents are on-demand and ideal for independent self-learning", that learners can choose to be "accompanied by a project management expert, who will give you guidance and support", and that the courses "represent a well-structured mix of theory, exercises, examples and checklists." Three titles are named: Project Management Essentials, Introduction to Project Management and Advanced Techniques in Project Management. The home page frames this as letting individuals "learn autonomously and without constraints".
Training beyond the exams
Not every course leads to an exam. For companies, the practitioner track covers Project Management Essentials, Introduction to Agile/Hybrid Project Management, Introduction to Project Management, Leading Project Teams and Hybrid Agile PM with Half Double. The professional track covers AI in Project Management, Advanced Techniques in Project Management, Leading Agile Teams and Delivering Great Project Results. There are also Pick & Mix short courses and advanced one-day courses.
Individuals booking public courses can choose from Basics of Project Management, Mastering Project Leadership, Leading Teams in Project, Plan-Based Project Management, Solution Driven Project Management, Agile Project Management, Goal-Focused Project Delivery, Mastering Projects in a Complex Environment, and Sustainability and Governance.
The tailored training list for organizations names topics such as a Project Management Crash course, Earned Value Management, Procurement Management, Agile Project Management, and Product Owner and Scrum Master courses. Coaching and "Consulting & Tailoring" sit beside it for companies that want help beyond a course.
Formats, languages and support
STS delivers in several formats: intensive courses, public classroom courses, virtual courses (the PMI-ACP course is named as one), tailor-made training for organizations, on-demand e-learning, and coaching. Its stated languages are English, French and German, both for the site and for event sessions, and it says its tools are translated into different languages.
The site publishes no course fees; registration and pricing go through the company's contact forms. Those forms cover requesting information, technical support, requesting a certificate, registering for a course, becoming a tutor, trainer or coach, and becoming a partner. A "Talk to our experts" button offers a booked call. The news section adds articles on certification as a career turning point, summer upskilling, sustainability in projects and leadership.
Who it suits
STS suits project managers who want structured exam preparation for a PMI or IPMA credential, especially those who prefer to practice under realistic conditions: X-AM is built for exactly that. Candidates for the PMP, CAPM or PMI-ACP get preparation courses plus the simulators, and candidates for IPMA Level D or Level C-A get dedicated preparation at each level.
It also fits French and German speakers who would rather be trained in their own language, and companies in or near Switzerland that want a single provider for certification prep, tailored courses and coaching. Readers interested in sustainability can take the GPM-b certification, and teams moving to agile or hybrid methods have the PMI-ACP, DASM and Half Double routes.
It is a narrower fit for someone who wants to compare prices online before committing, because every booking starts with a request. It is also focused on project management alone, so candidates for other professional exams will need a different provider.
