Kaplan Financial Education
Tap a star to rate
Kaplan Financial Education is the part of Kaplan, Inc. that serves people who work in financial services. Its home page describes "workforce development and credentialing programs designed to support financial professionals and businesses", and the offer runs along a career: prep for a first insurance or securities license, continuing education to keep that license, CFP certification education and exam prep, professional designations and certificates, online master's degrees, and accounting CPE. It has two kinds of customer. An individual agent, advisor or planner buys a study package or a CE library for themselves. An employer, from an insurer to a broker-dealer, buys CE and licensing programs for its staff and uses Kaplan to track and report completions.
Licensing exam prep
Insurance. Kaplan prepares candidates for state insurance licenses in Life, Health, Property and Casualty, Adjuster and Personal Lines. The menus show the support around the study packages: guides to how to get licensed and to each state's requirements, study tools, published pass rates, FAQs, free study resources, free webinars and an insurance free trial. The home page headline figure is a "94% Life & Health and Property & Casualty Exam Pass Rates Among Surveyed Kaplan Students". The footnote scopes it carefully: over 2,000 students who bought a Kaplan Insurance course between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025 completed surveys, and 2,008 of them reported their most recent exam outcome.
Securities. Study packages cover the SIE, Series 7, Series 63, Series 65 and Series 66. The home page invites learners to "Choose the qualification exam or combination of exams you plan to pass", and Kaplan then recommends a package to suit their learning style and schedule. There is a free SIE trial and a run of free securities webinars.
CFP certification. Kaplan runs a CFP Board Registered Program for the education requirement, offered as "an online class with archived sessions, OnDemand lectures, or a self-study format", with an accelerated path and stackable credit. CFP exam prep is sold separately as review packages and study tools, backed by a "PassProtection" guarantee, and both the education and the exam prep have free trials.
Continuing education
The CE side is where Kaplan Financial behaves most like a training library. The business CE page describes "unlimited, 365-day access to our Total Access CE Library of 80+ online courses" for insurance professionals, and notes that in many cases those courses also qualify for CFP certification CE, AMS, CRPC and other credits. Learners can instead buy an individual course or attend a CE webinar, and the menu adds NAIC annuity training.
Investment adviser representatives get a separate IAR CE catalog built "to comply with the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) IAR CE Model Rule, to obtain 12 credits each year". The home page says the IAR courses cover Products and Practices and Ethics and Professional Responsibility at all levels. CFP professionals, who according to Kaplan need 30 credits of CE every two years to renew, can take CFP Board-approved ethics and other CE credits from the online library, including a Total Access CE option and CE webinars. Wealth management, professional designation and real estate CE are listed too.
For staff who do not need CE credit, an Insurance Professional Development Total Access Library, individual online courses, professional development books, an Insurance Accelerator and fraternal training programs cover job skills, alongside general courses in data literacy, career readiness and project management.
Designations, certificates and degrees
The wealth management menu separates three levels of credential. Certificate programs include Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) Training, ETFs and Portfolio Construction, and a Financial Advising Accelerator. The fine print on the AIF program is explicit: it is "a certificate program, whereby a certificate of completion is issued", and it "does not award a professional certification"; Fi360, a Broadridge company, owns the AIF mark. Professional designations are presented as the step above, which the home page describes as "an industry-recognized credential that increases your influence and client trust". At the top sit online master's degrees in Personal Financial Planning and Financial Analysis, which the site pitches to people pursuing "CFP certification or the CFA charter while also earning a graduate degree". The site also links to CFA, CAIA and FRM prep and a Certificate in Sustainable Investing.
Accounting CPE
Accounting professionals have their own line, with a CPE package, CPE webinars and IMA-related offerings. The business page describes "CPE and professional development programs for accounting professionals ranging from entry-level to partner and CFO".
For employers and universities
The business pages are written for compliance and training managers. Kaplan offers financial organizations "live online, self-study, and blended learning options designed to support workforce development and compliance at scale", and lists what a CE partnership includes:
- easy-to-take CE certification exams that check knowledge is retained;
- emailed certificates after each course;
- prompt reporting of CE credit hours to state departments of insurance where required;
- bulk loading of employees into the Kaplan Learning Platform, if desired.
A business solutions specialist handles inquiries, and the menu adds a reseller program and partnerships with universities for students and faculty. The home page claims that "80% of the Top 50 Financial Institutions Trust Kaplan as Their Preferred Learning Partner".
Prices, trials and proof points
The home page carries a current offer: code ADVANCE takes 15% off insurance licensing study packages, insurance CE total access libraries, securities licensing study packages, the IAR CE total access library and accounting CPE study packages, valid until October 16, 2026. Individual package prices sit on the shop pages behind those links. Free trials cover insurance licensing, the SIE, CFP education and CFP exam prep, and the footer links a Return Policy.
Beyond the pass rate, Kaplan reports that "Nearly 9 out of 10" insurance and securities exam or CE course takers would recommend it, and that 4 out of 5 students say its prep is similar to the exam. These come from a survey run between September 29 and November 4, 2022 of 438 insurance licensing or CE course takers and 295 securities licensing exam takers, of whom 172 and 162 respectively had studied with Kaplan. Kaplan's instructors average 20+ years of real-world and teaching experience, the site says. Support runs through a help center, tech support and a contact page, and the site also lists advisor AI tools and a Wealth Management Professional Assistant.
Who it suits
Kaplan Financial Education suits a new insurance agent who needs a state license quickly and wants a choice of live online, self-study or blended prep; a registered rep stacking the SIE, Series 7 and Series 66; an investment adviser representative who needs 12 IAR CE credits every year; and a planner working through the CFP education requirement and exam. Because licensing, CE and designations sit in one place, a professional can stay with the same provider for a whole career.
It suits compliance and training teams at insurers, broker-dealers and wealth firms just as well, since bulk enrollment, certificates and DOI reporting take paperwork off their desk. The catalog is built entirely around U.S. financial licensing and credentials, so a learner looking for general personal finance courses or non-U.S. qualifications will find little here.
