Tap a star to rate

ExamPrep.ai CPA Review is an online course for candidates preparing for the CPA exam. It combines human-written lessons with adaptive practice, and uses a machine learning model to predict when a candidate is ready to sit each section. The site positions it as a review that helps candidates "become a CPA months faster and save hundreds on exam retake fees."

The founder, Michael Anuzis, writes on the home page that "after years in development we are thrilled to offer aspiring CPAs a more effective option for earning your CPA." The FAQ is direct about what the AI does and does not do. The course is "AI-enhanced, not AI-created": the AI powers the adaptive learning, personalized study plans and ReadyRating predictions, while all instructional content, meaning the lessons, explanations and study guides, "is created by our head instructor, Nick Palazzolo (CPA), with support from a team of human experts." The home page also says the company is "proud to work with state CPA societies to support the next generation of CPAs."

Courses

There is a review course for each of the six CPA exam sections the site lists: AUD (Auditing and Attestation), BAR (Business Analysis and Reporting), FAR (Financial Accounting and Reporting), ISC (Information Systems and Controls), REG (Regulation) and TCP (Tax Compliance and Planning). Each has lesson previews on the site, so a candidate can see the teaching style for a section before signing up. Candidates choose an exam and start free, and the home page links a demo video and a student success story about a candidate who passed all 4 exams on the first try.

How the platform works

The home page describes four layers:

  • Knowledge insights. Mastery Ranges estimate performance on the top-level exam areas, and Concept Mastery checks that a candidate has practiced each concept and "developed the proficiency to pass." Concept Mastery is mapped to the AICPA exam blueprint.
  • Study guide. A dashboard gives "a comprehensive view of your progress," and candidates can drill down to topic level to direct their focus.
  • Adaptive practice. Quizzes, exams and flashcards are adaptive: "each question you practice is selected by an ExamPrep AI trained to maximize your success," and flashcards adapt to what the candidate already knows using a spaced repetition system.
  • Readiness insights. "Advanced machine learning predicts exam readiness," and as preparation nears completion the system recommends which activity to focus on next.

Lessons open progressively: on the free account candidates start with 50+ lessons per exam, and more become available as they answer practice questions correctly. Task-based simulations give practice in the simulation format.

The ReadyRating and pass guarantee

The ReadyRating is the feature the course is built around. The FAQ calls it "an advanced predictive model that provides a clear, 5-level assessment of your exam readiness," meant to help a candidate decide "whether to sit for your exam or reschedule, saving you from expensive retake fees." Reaching Level 4 "indicates the odds of passing are firmly in your favor," while Level 5, an "80%+ pass probability," makes the candidate eligible for the Pass Guarantee.

The guarantee "comes standard with all paid plans": "If you achieve ReadyRating Level 5 but fail your exam, we'll give you a full refund." The site says there is no extra fee for it, and that it "applies even if you only fail a single exam section." The full policy is linked from the FAQ.

Pricing

The pricing page lists four options:

  • Study Starter Pack, free forever. 50+ lesson videos, 200+ practice questions, 100+ flashcards, 10 task-based simulations, a memorization guide, adaptive study planning, Concept Mastery mapped to the AICPA blueprint, and success coaching emails.
  • Monthly Subscription, $59 a month. Full access to all courses: 6,700+ questions "including AICPA materials," 1,800+ lesson videos, 1,200+ flashcards, 200+ task-based simulations, the ReadyRating, and a 14-day money-back guarantee.
  • Single Full Course, $199. All lessons, questions, flashcards and simulations for one exam, with the pass guarantee and "unlimited access until you pass."
  • Ultimate CPA Bundle, $649. The course bundle for AUD, BAR, FAR, ISC, REG and TCP, with the pass guarantee and access until you pass.

The FAQ adds that discounts are often available "for students, those retaking an exam, or switching from a competitor," and asks candidates who cannot afford the course to get in touch. A Switch to ExamPrep.ai page offers "a fresh start discount" to candidates whose current course let them down, and a Score Purchase Program is also listed in the menu.

The free account

The free tier is permanent rather than a trial. The FAQ says "unlike other trials that expire, our free access is permanent," and the resources page promises "sign up in under a minute, free forever, no payment info needed!" A free account opens all 6 CPA exams with "150+ practice questions each, hundreds of flashcards, 5-10 simulations, and access to 50+ lesson clips."

Two resources need no account at all. The memorization guides cover the essentials for each exam in "an easy-to-digest format," with the promise "if it's in our guide, it's on the exam." The Definitive Guide to Journal Entries offers "5 hours of expert-led content, available in both video and audio formats," so it can be watched at a desk or downloaded for listening on the go. A CPA Study Planner sits in the same resources menu.

Retakes and mobile study

The FAQ calls the platform "exceptionally effective for retakes." A few adaptive quizzes pinpoint knowledge gaps, the study plan shifts to those areas, and the ReadyRating signals when the retake is worth booking. A Retake Support Program offers "significant discounts for students switching from another course."

Practice quizzes, lessons, flashcards, memorization guides and knowledge insights all work on a phone. Task-based simulations and practice exams need a large screen.

Who it suits

ExamPrep.ai suits self-directed CPA candidates who want a data-based answer to "am I ready?" before paying an exam fee, and who like adaptive practice over a fixed lecture sequence. Candidates taking one section at a time can buy the $199 single course and keep it until they pass, while those planning the whole exam can take the $649 bundle or pay monthly. Retake candidates and people switching from another review get both a targeted diagnostic and discount programs. Anyone unsure can work through the free account, which covers every section, before spending anything.

Candidates who want live classes or one-on-one tutoring should note that the site describes a self-study course with coaching emails rather than live instruction.
