ExamFX

Tap a star to rate

ExamFX is an online exam prep company for people entering the insurance and securities industries in the US, and for licensed insurance producers who need continuing education to renew. Its home page says it has trained "9.5+ Million" candidates over 45 years in business, and that 93% of learners recommend ExamFX while 97% rate its instructors as highly knowledgeable.

The company sells to two kinds of customer. Individuals buy a course for the exam they are about to sit. Businesses, which the site groups as financial services firms and institutions, independent marketing organizations, business processing outsourcing firms and agencies, buy training for their recruits and manage it through a separate manager login. The home page says "from regional agencies to Fortune 500 giants, thousands of organizations trust us for prelicensing education."

Insurance prelicensing

ExamFX offers online insurance prelicensing courses "in 50 US States and D.C.," and says each course follows the individual state's testing provider exam outline. The course list covers Life, Health, Life and Health, Property and Casualty, Personal Lines, Limited Lines Automobile, Medicare Supplement and Long-Term Care, Variable Products, Code and Ethics combinations, and courses for adjusters. A learner starts by selecting their state.

The insurance courses list these features: an intuitive learning platform, state-specific content "updated in real-time," study tools such as a video gallery, flashcards and Key Facts review, live online webinars, multiple testing modes, an English and Spanish content toggle built into the course, printed study materials and support. The site also offers a dedicated range of Spanish products.

Securities licensing

The securities catalog covers the FINRA exams (SIE, Series 6, Series 7, Series 4, Series 9, Series 10 and Series 24), the NASAA state law exams (Series 63, 65 and 66), and the NFA exams (Series 3, Series 31 and Series 34). Each course page explains what the license allows. Series 24 "allows individuals to manage or supervise a FINRA member's investment banking or securities business," Series 65 qualifies investment adviser representatives, and Series 34 is needed before engaging in off-exchange retail forex. Two bundles combine the SIE with the Series 6 or the Series 7 in a single purchase.

A note on the SIE page says securities products are sold through Training Consultants, an ExamFX brand, with checkout on that site.

SIE packages and what each includes

The SIE page is the clearest view of how ExamFX packages a course. It shows three retail packages:

  • Live Online Package, $249. The "most popular" option: a video-based course with "interactive 3-hour live webinars," described as the "fastest path to passing with live instruction and full exam prep."
  • Online Course Package, $149. The video course plus practice tests, for studying at your own pace.
  • Textbook Package, $129. A hard-copy textbook plus practice tests on the platform, as a printed study reference.

The package comparison lists access lengths of 180 days and 90 days, a personalized study plan, on-demand video lectures, a report center with progress tracking, and a note-taking notebook. Testing tools include competency exams, SpotCheck quizzes embedded in video lectures, practice question sets, checkpoint exams, a benchmark final exam, standard final exams and a custom exam generator. Support covers online and phone instructor support, and study aids include a glossary and acronyms list, online flashcards and real-time content updates. Digital flashcards are included in the Live Online and Online Course packages, and textbook buyers can add study materials separately.

The page warns that a learner who does not upgrade to the Live Online package at purchase "will not be able to upgrade later."

Live focused webinars

Live webinars come with the Live Online package and run on Zoom, available nationwide. Each SIE session lasts 3 hours and covers named chapters, for example options and investment companies, markets and margins, or equity and bonds. Learners "must complete all chapter quizzes before attending." The site says candidates "can save up to 13 hours of study time" with the webinars, and notes that they are a supplemental tool that does not change the recommended study hours. Fillable webinar notebooks help learners take notes during sessions. The SIE page adds "¡Nueva! ¡Disponible en Español!": live online learning is now available in Spanish.

Continuing education

For licensed producers, ExamFX sells "a full suite of courses and training designed to help you easily renew your producer license and meet state requirements." It covers "everything you need to renew a standard Life & Health or Property & Casualty license," with an all-access course library "automatically updated if state requirements change," 365-day access, mobile compatibility, automated certificate reporting and "unlimited exam retakes until you pass."

Pass rates, guarantees and claims

The home page publishes insurance pass rates of 94% for Life and Health, 95% for Life, 90% for Health, 99% for Property and Casualty and 93% overall combined. It says these are "based on self-reported data collected through the ExamFX Success Rate Survey," conducted between February 1 and October 17, 2025, with 2,826 learner responses, and that the results "may not represent overall outcomes." For securities, the site reports a 92% overall combined pass rate from a survey conducted between July and August 2025, counting students who completed 85% or more of the program and averaged 80% or higher on final exams.

The securities page says "ExamFX candidates typically score within 4-5% of their practice exam score on the actual licensing exam," cites a team with "35+ Years" of experience working with FINRA's test bank, claims textbooks 30% smaller than competitors', and offers "24/7" access to 1:1 coaching with expert trainers. The insurance side carries a pass guarantee: "We're so confident in our courses that we guarantee you'll pass or get your money back." The SIE page mentions a Newsweek award and a 4.6 Trustpilot rating.

Who it suits

ExamFX suits someone starting a career in insurance or securities who wants a structured course built to a specific state outline or FINRA exam, with practice exams that show readiness before booking. Candidates who struggle alone can choose the Live Online package for instructor-led webinars, while confident self-studiers can save with the online or textbook packages. Licensed agents get a renewal library with automated certificate reporting. Agencies and financial firms can run their recruits through the business side and its manager login. The main thing to settle at checkout is the package, since the live upgrade cannot be added afterward.
