What CloudNinja Is

CloudNinja is a free website for preparing for Amazon Web Services certification exams. The About page says it "exists to make AWS certification training accessible to everyone," whether you are taking your first steps into cloud computing or preparing for an advanced specialty exam, and the home page says its practice exams are "built by AWS-certified professionals." The home page headline numbers are 12 practice exams, 800+ questions and "100% Free Forever," and both the practice exams and the cheat sheets are open with no signup: "No signup required. Start immediately."

The site covers AWS and nothing else. Every current AWS certification gets a practice test, a study guide and in some cases a cheat sheet for every current AWS certification, plus news on exam changes and a page of verified exam discounts.

The Practice Exams

The home page lists a practice exam for each of the 12 AWS certifications, grouped by level:

  • Foundational: Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02) and AI Practitioner (AIF-C01).
  • Associate: Solutions Architect Associate (SAA-C03), Developer Associate (DVA-C02), CloudOps Engineer Associate (SOA-C03, formerly SysOps Administrator), Machine Learning Engineer Associate (MLA-C01) and Data Engineer Associate (DEA-C01).
  • Professional: Solutions Architect Professional (SAP-C02), DevOps Engineer Professional (DOP-C02) and Generative AI Developer Professional (AIP-C01).
  • Specialty: Security Specialty (SCS-C03) and Advanced Networking Specialty (ANS-C01).

Each card describes what the real exam validates and, for several, the format the practice test mirrors: the Cloud Practitioner card shows 65 questions, 1h 30m and 70% to pass; Solutions Architect Associate 65 questions, 2h 10m and 72%; Solutions Architect Professional 75 questions, 3h and 75%. The DevOps Engineer Professional card describes a "Free DOP-C02 practice exam with 75 realistic questions" on CI/CD pipelines, CloudFormation, the Code services, CloudWatch and infrastructure automation. The About page, by contrast, describes "9 free exam simulators covering every AWS certification," so the two pages count the simulators differently.

The home page lists four features: instant feedback with answers and explanations in practice mode; a timed exam mode with a countdown timer and navigation that simulates real conditions; progress tracking that lets you review results by topic and difficulty and focus on weak areas; and expert explanations, with "detailed reasoning and AWS references" for every question. A daily question appears on the home page (for example, one about moving petabytes of data with physical storage appliances), and there is a small arcade game, Cloud Ninja Run, for study breaks.

Study Guides and Cheat Sheets

The certifications page compares all 12 exams side by side, with code, level, difficulty, number of questions, duration, passing score and cost. It adds advice on order: start with Cloud Practitioner (or AI Practitioner) if you are new to cloud; move to an associate exam after a year of experience, with Solutions Architect Associate described as the most versatile; take a professional exam after significant experience; and leave the two specialty exams for people with hands-on depth in security or networking. Each certification has an in-depth guide covering exam domains, study strategy and career insights.

The cheat sheets go furthest into the exam content. The Developer Associate (DVA-C02) sheet is a free 15-page PDF, no signup required, organized around the four exam domains with their weights: Development with AWS Services (32%), Security (26%), Deployment (24%) and Troubleshooting and Optimization (18%). It runs through 12 sections, from developer fundamentals and EC2 to Lambda limits, API Gateway authorization, DynamoDB capacity and index design, application integration, identity and encryption, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring and configuration. The page suggests a method: skim the sheet, take the free practice exam to find gaps, return to the relevant section for each miss, and read every Exam Tip call-out three days before the exam. It also notes that AWS is replacing DVA-C02 with DVA-C03 on December 1, 2026, and that the sheet still targets the exam you sit today.

Exam Costs and Discounts

The blog's cost guide sets out the fees CloudNinja's readers will pay AWS: $100 for foundational exams, $150 for associate and $300 for professional and specialty. It explains that each pass earns a 50% discount voucher valid for one year on any AWS exam, that a failed exam requires a 14-day wait before a retake with the full fee charged again, and that AWS runs promotions around re:Invent, AWS Summit events and its annual Global Certification Challenge.

The exam discounts page lists verified offers with the fine print. Verified students at accredited higher education institutions get a 12-month AWS Skill Builder subscription and, after earning 21 Builder Center badges, a $100 certification voucher, which covers a foundational exam in full. Employees of AWS Partners who complete at least 50% of a Partner Certification Readiness cohort's core learning plan and attend a live session receive a voucher covering 100% of the exam fee. The page states that CloudNinja is not affiliated with Pearson VUE, Amazon Web Services or any voucher seller and earns nothing from these links, and that it checks deals before listing them.

The site also follows AWS exam changes: a recent home page item reported that the Machine Learning Engineer Associate exam moves to MLA-C02, with a dedicated exam changes page in the footer.

Videos and Blog

The About page lists video tutorials on CloudNinja's YouTube channel covering best practices, real-world examples and exam tips from certified professionals, and the home page embeds the latest videos. The blog carries guides such as what is on the SAA-C03 exam, which associate exam to take first, and what each AWS certification pays.

Who It Suits

CloudNinja suits anyone preparing for an AWS certification who wants free, realistic practice and a clear plan, from a beginner choosing between Cloud Practitioner and AI Practitioner to an engineer taking a professional or specialty exam. Its timed mode, explanations and topic-level results make it a good final check before booking, and the cheat sheets suit the last week of revision. Students and AWS Partner employees should read the discounts page before paying an exam fee. Because it is a practice and reference site rather than a taught course, complete beginners will want hands-on time in AWS or a course alongside it; the DVA-C02 cheat sheet itself assumes about a year of development experience.
