What SkillUp Online Is

SkillUp Online is an online course platform for tech and human skills, aimed at learners who want job-ready skills and a certificate: people starting a tech career, reskilling from another field, or adding skills for a promotion. Its About page describes it as "a future-focused learning platform with a single goal; to close the tech skills gap and enable professionals and organizations to thrive using emerging technologies," and says it is part of "the dynamic SkillUp Group," which provides "global end-to-end learning solutions to professionals and organizations." The home page claims it is "Trusted by 500K+ active Learners & Professionals across 15 countries," and the About page sets the goal "to skill over a hundred million new IT professionals within the next ten years."

The catalog covers artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, business applications, cloud computing, compliance (POSH), cybersecurity, data analytics, data science, DevOps, finance, full stack development, healthcare, human skills, the Internet of Things, leadership and management, modern workplace and the Power Platform. The About page speaks of "200+ skill based future skill courses with industry recognised certificates." Popular courses listed in the site menu include Product Management Essentials & Stakeholder Collaboration, Foundations of AI in Healthcare, Using GenAI in Modern Software Development, and Fine-Tuning Transformers and Gen AI Models.

Course Formats

The FAQ explains three formats:

  • Self-paced courses and programs have no fixed schedule for modules or assignments; "As long as the course/program is completed before the end date, you can work as quickly or as slowly as you want." Materials become available when you enroll and stay available until the end date.
  • Self-paced with mentoring services add a subject matter expert and mentor. "Depending on your payment plan," the mentor is available "via the discussion space, emails, and 1-to-1 online meetings."
  • Virtual instructor-led courses and programs run on set dates, with live classes on a schedule and fixed due dates for assignments and exams. You can join late, but you cannot submit assignments or exams whose dates have passed, and deadlines "cannot be extended."

Resources "tend to include downloadable handouts, articles, virtual discussions, webinars, knowledge checks, and videos." Courses range from foundational and fundamental to advanced and applied, plus human skills courses for individuals and managers and compliance courses such as HR and IT security compliance. The platform works best in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari and on phones and tablets, though labs and some hands-on work may need a laptop. Some material can be downloaded for offline viewing.

Certificate Programs

The home page features structured programs with mentorship and projects, among them the TechMaster Certificate Program in AI & ML Engineering, the TechMaster Certificate Program in Data Analytics, a Certificate Program in AI Augmented Digital Marketing, and a Generative AI for Financial Professionals Program. It promises "weekly guidance from professionals," "Flexible schedules and predictable weekly commitment," and certificates "from SkillUp and leading global institutions." The About page adds certification exam preparation with practice papers and knowledge checks, 1:1 career and job application mentoring including resume preparation and interview practice, and capstone projects and hands-on labs.

IBM Courses

A large part of the catalog is built with IBM. The IBM page says learners can "Earn IBM Professional Certifications in artificial intelligence and data science through programs designed by the leading organization in these fields," and describes IBM Professional Certification as "fully accredited," in its own words. Skills-oriented IBM courses are listed with prices: Artificial Intelligence Fundamentals at $999, AI for Everyone: Master the Basics at $199 (shown as closed for enrollment), Introducing AI at $179, AI Concepts at $119, AI Ethics at $299, Game-playing AI with Swift for TensorFlow at $249, and PyTorch courses at $999. Support around these courses includes 1-to-1 mentoring sessions, interactive live classes, webinars with industry experts, weekly personalized feedback, real-world and capstone projects and hands-on labs. The page names IBM experts who teach, such as Rav Ahuja, AI and Data Science Program Director at IBM, and Joseph Santarcangelo, a data scientist at IBM.

Data Science 101 is a typical example. It is self-paced, beginner level, with mentor support, an estimated 4 weeks at 2-4 hours a week, and a fee of $199, with a "Get Reimbursed" link to financial assistance for logged-in users. It has five modules of short videos, such as "What is data science?" and "R versus Python", plus readings and graded review questions, and no prerequisites. Completion earns an IBM Certificate.

Grading and Certificates

The FAQ says you can attempt a test only once to qualify for certification, and "your average score must be at least 70% overall to earn a certificate." Assignments are graded either by peers or by the mentor, instructor or course team. Certificates appear on your dashboard within 24-48 hours of passing and are delivered online only, with no physical copies. The FAQ lists two qualifications: a Certificate of Completion and, for some tracks, a Professional Certificate. An honor code forbids sharing accounts, plagiarism and posting assessment answers, and a breach can cost the certificate without a refund.

Payments and Refunds

You choose a payment plan when you enroll. Learners in India pay through Razorpay by card, net banking, wallet or UPI; learners elsewhere pay by card through Stripe, and Klarna is available for learners in the US and UK. Invoices are in your order history. The refund rule is short: for instructor-led courses you have up to three days after the course starts to cancel and request a refund, and for self-paced courses up to three days after you unenroll. There is no refund for missing system requirements after that window or for running out of time.

Who SkillUp Online Suits

SkillUp Online suits learners who want structured tech courses with a certificate attached, especially IBM courses in AI and data science, and who value a mentor, discussion space and capstone projects over a bare video library. Career changers can take a beginner course such as Data Science 101 at a listed price before committing to a longer certificate program. Professionals in finance, marketing or healthcare can choose AI programs aimed at their field. Learners who want unlimited access to a large catalog for one subscription, or who need flexible deadlines on instructor-led courses, should check each course's format and end date before enrolling.
