What Simplilearn Is
Simplilearn is an online training company for working professionals who want skills and certifications in AI, data, cloud, cybersecurity, software development, project management and business. It runs three things side by side: paid certification programs taught live in cohorts, many of them built with universities and certification bodies; SkillUp, a free library of self-paced courses with completion certificates; and SkillUp+, a subscription learning platform for companies. The About page says it was founded in 2010, describes itself as "A Blackstone company", and calls itself "the world's leading digital skills training provider." The home page claims "15 Million+ Careers advanced" and "2,000 Live classes every month."
Its timeline on the About page traces the company from a blog on project management to milestones such as training 200,000+ professionals in 150+ countries with 200+ courses across online self-paced, classroom and online classroom modes, the acquisition of digital marketing trainer Market Motive, partnerships with Purdue University, Caltech CTME and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, crossing 3 million learners, and the acquisition of New York based Fullstack Academy. It says it partners with 40+ universities, certification bodies and organizations.
Paid Certification Programs
The paid side is built around cohorts with start dates. The home page's top programs show the range: Oxford Programme courses in strategic analysis and AI decision making, AI and business analytics, organizing for AI, and digital transformation; Michigan Engineering programs such as the Professional Certificate in AI and Machine Learning and the Applied Generative AI Specialization; Microsoft Applied Agentic AI; and certification training for PMP, PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner, ITIL Foundation (Version 5), TOGAF, Certified ScrumMaster and others. Each is listed with a cohort start date, such as "Cohort Starts: 19th Sep '26" for PMP Certification Training.
The footer adds the master programs and certification courses: data analyst, data science, cloud architect, DevOps engineer, cyber security expert, business analyst and AWS cloud architect programs, and certification training for AWS, AZ-400, CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP, SAFe, Tableau, Power BI, Lean Six Sigma Green and Black Belt, Java and Python. It also groups training by certification body, including PMI, AXELOS, PeopleCert, Scrum Alliance, Scaled Agile, ISC2, ISACA, EC-Council, CompTIA, AWS and Microsoft.
The home page explains what sets the paid programs apart: a curriculum "Co-created with the world's top universities and companies", classes "Taught Live by Industry Experts", hands-on projects built on real-world problems and case studies, and "Round the Clock Support" from a cohort manager. The SkillUp FAQ compares the two tiers: paid programs offer an industry-recognized certification, extensive capstone projects and labs, and live, self-paced and recorded classes, while free courses give a certificate of completion. The home page reports an "80% Graduation rate", "4.8 / 5 Rated by learners", "50%+ Average salary hike" and "85% Report career success", and its own footer notes that "Career Impact Results vary based on experience and numerous factors."
The site also offers "Guaranteed-to-run Classes" for corporate training and a "Become an Instructor" program.
Alby, the AI Coach
Simplilearn's AI coach is called Alby. The home page introduces it as "Your AI Coach from Start to Success" and says "From choosing the right course to clearing doubts, building projects, and preparing for interviews, Alby supports you at every step." The footer also links to a SimpliMentor GPT.
SkillUp: Free Courses With Certificates
SkillUp is Simplilearn's free library. The page says learners can "Choose from 500+ courses across 13+ categories and 1500+ skills" and that SkillUp has "2.5M+ learners globally." Courses are self-paced and mobile-friendly, and many are built "in partnership with industry leaders like Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft, and Databricks." Examples include Get Started with Databricks for Machine Learning, Introduction to Prompt Engineering with GitHub Copilot, Getting Started with Application Load Balancer, Introduction to Amazon API Gateway, Responsible AI with Google Cloud, Introduction to the Basics of Azure Services, Excel Macros and VBA for Beginners, and Power BI Data Modelling Basics. Many run about an hour, according to the course cards.
Based on August 2026 enrollment data, the FAQ lists the most popular tracks: Data Science (2,900,000+ learners, 57 courses), Software Development (2,026,000+ learners, 87 courses), Digital Marketing (919,500+ learners, 57 courses), Gen AI (773,400+ learners, 129 courses), AI (673,800+ learners, 38 courses), Cloud Computing (589,000+ learners, 107 courses), Cyber security (571,000+ learners, 12 courses) and Project Management (304,300+ learners, 17 courses).
The terms are simple. The FAQ says SkillUp's courses "come with zero hidden charges and zero trial restrictions", that "Every free online course on SkillUp comes with a certificate upon completion", and that there is no limit on how many courses you take at once. There are no prerequisites beyond an email address, though some advanced data science or cloud courses state prior knowledge in their description. The FAQ adds that "73% of learners use these free certification courses to strengthen their LinkedIn profiles." For beginners without a tech background it suggests Digital Marketing Basics, Excel for Beginners, Communication Skills, Introduction to Project Management and Basics of Data Analytics.
Simplilearn for Business and SkillUp+
For companies, SkillUp+ is described as "a learning platform built for outcome-driven AI, digital, and power skill-building" that "Combines expert-led content, live sessions, and hands-on projects in one subscription." The home page lists "700 Live Classes Monthly", "1000 Expert-Led Async Courses" and "1000 Projects, Labs & Assessments" for the enterprise platform, and says Simplilearn is trusted by practitioners from 100+ Fortune 500 companies. The About page offers downloadable academic catalogs for frontline skilling, digital business, software development and programming, cloud and DevOps, cyber security, and data and AI, with a representative replying within one business day.
Apps and Support
Simplilearn has Android and iOS apps, and SkillUp courses can be taken through the mobile app. Paid learners get a cohort manager, and the site lists contact and grievance redressal pages.
Pricing
The site publishes no program prices on the home, courses or About pages; paid programs are shown with cohort dates rather than fees. SkillUp courses are free.
Who Simplilearn Suits
Simplilearn suits professionals who want a structured, live program with a named university or certification body behind it, such as PMP, ITIL, cloud architecture, AI and machine learning, or cybersecurity, and who value a cohort schedule and support. Beginners and career explorers can start with SkillUp's free courses and certificates before paying for a program. L&D teams looking for a subscription library with live classes and labs can evaluate SkillUp+. Learners who only need a single self-paced course at low cost, or who want to sell their own courses, should look elsewhere.
