What Platzi Is

Platzi is a Spanish-language online school for technology and work skills, and it calls itself "La escuela de tecnología de Latinoamérica" (Latin America's technology school). It serves two readers at once. A learner signs up to pick up programming, AI, English, design, marketing or business skills one short class at a time. A company buys access for its staff through Platzi Business, which assigns role-based learning paths and reports who finished them. The home page states that "Más de 6 millones de estudiantes y más de 4,000 empresas aprenden en Platzi" (more than 6 million students and more than 4,000 companies learn on Platzi), and the business page says that more than 4,000 companies train with Platzi in Latin America. Its business content is described as "Contenido en español, para América Latina" (content in Spanish, for Latin America), so the catalog is built for Spanish speakers first, including an English Academy that teaches English to them.

The Catalog: Schools, Paths and Short Classes

Platzi organizes its courses into schools, and each school into paths ("rutas") of several courses with a stated number of content hours. The school list on the site runs from web development, programming, mobile development, cloud computing and DevOps, cybersecurity, and AI and data science to UX and product design, graphic design, audiovisual content, digital marketing, business, finance, startups, human resources, blockchain and Web3, and leadership and soft skills.

For a learner interested in coding, the depth is visible in the path names. Web development covers frontend with JavaScript, Vue.js, Angular and React.js, backend with Node.js, Python, Java, PHP and Ruby, databases for the web, web and API security, automated testing and QA, and DevOps and cloud for web developers. The programming school adds Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C# and .NET, Go and Rust, C and C++, mathematics for programming, and Linux server administration. The cloud school lists Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, containers and orchestration, infrastructure as code and CI/CD, serverless and observability, and a path called "Certificaciones Cloud (Preparación)", a preparation track for cloud certifications.

The Product Design and UX school shows how a single school is built. It lists 13 paths, from UX/UI fundamentals (24 hours of content, 9 courses, including Figma, Photoshop and Illustrator) and UX research (20 hours, 7 courses) to product management and design leadership (34 hours, 14 courses) and web development for designers (44 hours, 15 courses). That last path runs from HTML and CSS Grid to Sass, CSS architectures and TailwindCSS. Some entries are "audiocursos", audio courses meant for listening.

The AI Academy is the school Platzi pushes hardest. It has five paths: professional adoption of generative AI (18 hours, 8 courses on ChatGPT, Claude AI, Gemini, prompt engineering, context engineering and AI ethics, plus a free introduction to AI), workflow automation (15 hours, 9 courses covering Microsoft 365 Copilot, Gemini in Google Workspace, Notion AI, image and video generation, n8n and Make), building web apps with AI (6 hours, 4 courses including Google AI Studio, v0 and Supabase), AI engineering with LLMs and agents (8 hours, 4 courses on the OpenAI API and the Claude API), and software with frontier AI tools (6 hours, 4 courses including Codex and Cursor).

Individual courses on the home page give a sense of size: "Introducción a la IA" by Jaime Tello has 15 classes and 2 hours of content, "Excel básico" by Daniela Téllez has 23 classes and 3 hours, and "Claude AI" by Rodrigo Rojo has 20 classes and 4 hours. The business FAQ says "Las clases son de 10 a 20 minutos" (classes run 10 to 20 minutes), and adds that staff on a factory floor, in the field or in a store study from their phones in short classes that fit into a shift.

How Learning Works on Platzi

The home page describes three traits of the learning experience: a personalized learning path that adapts to your goals, a simple interface built for concentration, and "Ejercicios interactivos en cada clase para aprender haciendo" (interactive exercises in every class, to learn by doing). The site's description calls its offer "Cursos online certificados, rutas personalizadas por rol y profesores expertos" (certified online courses, role-based personalized paths and expert teachers). Each school page shows who teaches in it; the AI Academy lists its instructors by name alongside courses credited to the Platzi Team.

Community is the other half of the product. The school pages carry the line "La comunidad es nuestro superpoder" (the community is our superpower) and show blog posts and tutorials written by students. The home page lists community challenges where students build projects and compete for prizes, free live events with classes, talks and workshops with experts every week, and Platzi CONF, described as the annual gathering of the Platzi community in Colombia and Mexico.

Access and Pricing for Learners

The home page invites visitors to "Comienza gratis" (start free) and says "Inicia cualquier curso gratis" (start any course free). The site menu links to a separate pricing page; the home, school and business pages show no plan amounts for individual learners. The AI Academy also lists one course explicitly marked as free, its introduction to artificial intelligence.

The home page shows learner success cards with a role, a quote and an outcome. Examples include a Sr. Data Analyst whose card reads "Aumentó su sueldo +300%" (raised his salary by 300%), a Data Analyst at +212%, a Marketing Analyst who got a first job in tech, and a Tech Lead who was promoted. These are individual testimonials chosen by Platzi, not survey results.

Platzi Business: Four Ways to Train a Company

Platzi Business describes "Un sistema. Cuatro formas de capacitar a tu empresa" (one system, four ways to train your company), all sharing one reporting funnel: "quién aceptó, quién estudió, quién certificó" (who accepted, who studied, who got certified). The page says the reports need no request, compare across teams and months, and can be exported for a committee.

  • Platzi Academy gives each role its own path: data, sales and leadership "no ven el mismo catálogo: ven su camino" (do not see the same catalog, they see their path). The page reports that 63,4% of learners have already applied what they learned at work.
  • Platzi Learn turns a company's own material into courses: "El PDF que nadie abre. Lo que solo saben tus expertos. Todo eso, vuelto cursos." The page cites "×2,5 la productividad del vendedor" (2.5 times seller productivity) from an A/B test in retail in Mexico.
  • Executive Program is for the C-level: in person, 40 leaders per edition, focused on AI.
  • Grupos covers teams of up to 50 people, bought online and started the same day.

Platzi's headline business figure is that 7 of 10 people finish what their company assigns on Platzi, against 1 of 10 across the rest of the industry, a number it labels as its own data on company-assigned courses. The results section adds that AI adoption in enterprise accounts grew ×4,3 in 30 months, that Davivienda saw +53% adoption of its corporate education program, and that 35,000 students and 6,000 teachers took bilingual training with the Ministerio de Gobernación. Alianza Team Alimentos in Colombia is quoted claiming a 150× return and more than 1,000 employees trained, which Platzi marks as the client's own figures rather than its own measurement. AT&T México's director of digital education is also quoted.

On administration, the FAQ says access is managed by an administrator with additions and removals as needed, and that IT and legal teams receive documentation before signing. On price, the FAQ is direct: cost "Depende del tamaño y del alcance" (depends on size and scope). Up to 50 seats there is a public price and online purchase; above that, Platzi builds a proposal with you after a demo.

Who Platzi Suits

Platzi suits Spanish-speaking learners who want a broad, regularly updated catalog in short classes, especially in programming, cloud, AI tools and English, and who value live events and a visible community. Career changers will find full paths from fundamentals to specific stacks. Learners who need content in English, or who want a recognized third-party credential, should look at the cloud certification preparation path for what it covers rather than assume a Platzi certificate replaces a vendor exam.

For companies in Latin America, Platzi Business suits teams that already bought a training library nobody used and want role-based paths in Spanish with completion reporting. A team under 50 can buy online without a sales call; larger organizations, and those wanting their internal know-how turned into courses or an in-person AI program for executives, go through a demo and a proposal.

The business page lists recognitions it has received, among them a place in a "Top 40 Mejores EdTech del mundo" list in 2024 and being the first Latin American startup admitted to Y Combinator in 2014.
