Czechitas

Tap a star to rate

Czechitas is a Czech education organization that teaches digital, IT and AI skills, mainly to women and to companies that want to train their teams. Its headline reads "Vzděláváme ženy a celé firmy pro digitální dobu. Jasně, jednoduše a v klidu." (We educate women and whole companies for the digital age, clearly, simply and calmly.) The organization is registered as Czechitas, z.ú., with an address in Prague 4 - Nusle, and its site is in Czech with an English version linked from the menu.

Czechitas publishes three headline figures: 12 years of experience with digital education of women and not only women, 94 % of students who would recommend it, and "94 000+ zúčastněných na kurzech" (94,000+ participants in courses).

What learners actually get

The site describes its approach in a few lines: it combines technical, AI and soft skills ("Kombinujeme technické, AI a měkké dovednosti"), and its courses are taught by professionals with many years of industry experience ("Vyučují u nás profíci s mnohaletými zkušenostmi z oboru"). It says it explains technology simply, links theory with practice, and teaches "jen to, co má smysl" (only what makes sense), from using AI tools to building a digital mindset.

The offer for individuals comes in several layers.

Public courses (Veřejné kurzy). These are described as AI and digital skills for everyone who wants to stay up to date, booked through a course calendar. A separate menu section, Pro ženy, is aimed at women, and the site also lists learning paths (Vzdělávací cesty) and a course catalog.

Digital Academy and Digi HUB. For longer study there is the Digitální akademie, and the Digi HUB promises "Pravidelný přísun vzdělávacího obsahu i komunitní podpory" (a regular supply of learning content and community support). The self-study page frames short video courses as a way to find out whether a topic suits you, adding that if it does, "rádi tě uvidíme na některém z našich dlouhodobých kurzů" (we will be glad to see you on one of our long-term courses).

Self-study (Samostudium). Self-paced video courses run on the Výuka Czechitas platform; a learner registers in Moje Czechitas and can "začni studovat třeba hned teď" (start studying right now). The self-study catalog lists:

  • Poznej svět IT, an overview of IT terms, fields and roles, marked zdarma (free)
  • Jak být v bezpečí v digitálním světě, on staying safe online, shown at 0 Kč
  • Jak na CV a pohovor, on CVs and job interviews
  • Strategie hledání práce a LinkedIn, on job search strategy and LinkedIn
  • Úvod do agilního vývoje softwaru, an introduction to agile software development
  • Úvod do dat, an introduction to data
  • Úvod do produktového managementu, an introduction to product management
  • Úvod do Pythonu, an introduction to Python
  • Úvod do tvorby webu bez kódování ve WordPressu, building websites in WordPress without code
  • Úvod do tvorby webu s HTML a CSS, building websites with HTML and CSS

Each paid card carries the label Startovní (starter) and a price of 390 Kč or 590 Kč, printed next to the word zdarma (free). The 590 Kč courses are the data, WordPress and HTML and CSS introductions; the others are 390 Kč.

Google and IBM courses. Czechitas also gives access to outside course libraries. Through Google Essentials, which runs on Coursera, learners get two English courses for 0 Kč, Google AI Essentials and Google Prompting Essentials, after requesting a license. IBM SkillsBuild is described as "bezplatná online vzdělávací platforma od společnosti IBM" (a free online learning platform from IBM), mostly in English with several courses in Czech. Czechitas recommends three SkillsBuild courses: Základy designu uživatelského prostředí (user experience design basics, a starting point for the UX designer path), Data Fundamentals (an entry course for the data analyst, data engineer and data scientist paths), and Základy kyberbezpečnosti (cybersecurity basics, covering attacker tactics, social engineering, prevention and detection, an entry course for the cybersecurity specialist and analyst paths). Together with SkillsBuild it runs free webinars on generative AI, working with data and cybersecurity.

AI and data training

AI runs through the whole offer, which is why Czechitas appears among data and AI courses as well as coding. The homepage states that by 2030 AI and digital skills will be needed in 90 % of all job positions. (The course stood out for her because of how complete it was, and she valued testing what she learned on concrete projects right away.) On the data side, the self-study Úvod do dat course and the IBM Data Fundamentals course feed the data analyst, data engineer and data scientist paths, and one graduate moved into data analysis after burnout.

Training for companies

The corporate offer (Firemní kurzy) is described as "Krátké kurzy i komplexní programy. Od AI až po digitální mindset." (Short courses and comprehensive programs, from AI to a digital mindset.) The company menu also lists an education contribution scheme (Příspěvek na vzdělávání) and partnership options, and a B2B Learning and Partnership Lead handles company cooperation.

Two corporate testimonials appear on the homepage. Ondřej Šretr, Head of Facility services at E.on, wrote that the training "předčilo mé očekávání" (exceeded my expectations) and sparked curiosity across his team to try AI tools, praising "Velmi lidský přístup, pochopitelné vysvětlení a hlavně praktické ukázky" (a very human approach, clear explanations and above all practical demonstrations). Lenka Volfová, Specialistka vzdělávání at Robert Bosch, described an academy "přizpůsobená na míru pro naši společnost" (tailored to our company) and noted that "Několikaletá spolupráce s Czechitas mluví za vše" (several years of cooperation with Czechitas speak for themselves).

Graduates, community and credentials

Graduate testimonials stress career change. Anna Bednaříková: "Vyhoření mě přivedlo k datové analýze. Po letech rutiny mám konečně pestrou práci, po které jsem tolik toužila." (Burnout brought her to data analysis, and after years of routine she has the varied work she wanted.) Eva Hankusová says she uses her earlier experience fully in her new job. Lada Zikmundová says the course let her learn AI and also find the courage to change something concrete. Míša Bartoňová says the hardest part was deciding to start, and that Czechitas offers "podporu od skvělých lektorů i celé komunity" (support from great instructors and the whole community). Tereza Bílková's aha moment came when she started using technical terms without thinking.

The site footer carries the word Akreditováno (accredited) without naming the body or the courses it applies to. The organization also runs a foundation (Nadační fond), recruits instructors through Pojď učit (come teach), sells gift vouchers for courses, and lists general, strategic and regional partners. A free introductory webinar, also available as a recording, explains how studying there works. Questions about the self-study platform, SkillsBuild or the self-study courses go to a dedicated self-study email address.

Who it suits

Czechitas suits Czech-speaking women who want to move into IT, data or AI work or simply become confident with digital tools, with a path from a free taster to a long-term course. The self-study courses are a low-cost way to test a topic, and the Google and IBM libraries add free English material. Companies in the Czech Republic that want AI or digital mindset training for a team get tailored programs, with E.on and Robert Bosch among those quoted.

It suits less well a learner who does not read Czech, since the courses and most of the site are in Czech, or a developer looking for advanced programming: the coding offer here is introductory, built for career changers rather than engineers.
