Tap a star to rate
Utdannet.no is a Norwegian online course library for adults who want practical digital skills, taught in Norwegian by Norwegian professionals and sold as a single subscription. Its tagline is "Hele Norges kursplattform" (all of Norway's course platform). The catalog page says the courses give "praktisk kunnskap, digital kompetanse og faglig trygghet" (practical knowledge, digital competence and professional confidence) at any level, and covers everything "fra Excel og regnskap til bildebehandling, programmering og kunstig intelligens" (from Excel and accounting to image editing, programming and artificial intelligence). The company is Utdannet.no AS, and its founder, Espen Faugstad, is also its most prolific teacher.
Scale and reputation
The catalog page claims that over 70,000 people have learned on the platform and that, with an average rating of 4.73, Utdannet.no is "Norges mest populære plattform for digital kompetansebygging" (Norway's most popular platform for digital skills). Its counters show 75,660 course participants, 1,480 reviews, 159 online courses and 409 course hours. Marketing copy elsewhere rounds this to "170+ nettkurs og nettstudier" (170+ online courses and study programs). The homepage says the platform is used by NAV, Oslo kommune and "150+ norske virksomheter" (150+ Norwegian organizations).
What the catalog covers
Courses sit in six categories:
- Business: the everyday office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word, plus project management.
- Digital markedsføring (digital marketing): search engine optimization, Google Ads and advertising on Facebook and Instagram.
- Foto, design og tekst (photo, design and text): Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Lightroom, photography and Figma.
- Kunstig intelligens (AI): ChatGPT, generative AI, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Claude and image generation.
- Video og lyd (video and audio): film editing, sound editing and live streaming in Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audacity and DaVinci Resolve.
- Web og utvikling (web and development): HTML, CSS and JavaScript through Python and SQL, and publishing with WordPress and Shopify.
AI is the busiest area right now. The homepage ranks the most-watched courses, led by Claude: komplett guide (4 hours 49 minutes, 165 hours watched), Microsoft 365 Copilot: komplett guide, Claude Code: komplett guide, Vibbekoding for nybegynnere (vibe coding for beginners), Generativ KI: komplett guide, Power BI for nybegynnere, ChatGPT for nybegynnere and the free digital marketing course. The newest titles range wider: difficult conversations at work, Audacity and podcasting, plotting and story development, YouTube from idea to pro, writing and publishing a children's book series in English, productive meetings, responsible AI, and Roblox Studio scripting.
Courses are video-based. The FAQ says each course has a detailed table of contents, and that instructors bring practical industry experience, clear teaching in Norwegian, up-to-date knowledge, and project files and templates you can use in your own work. The catalog can be filtered by rating, length (under an hour up to six hours or more) and price (free or premium).
Teachers
The homepage also ranks its most-watched teachers. Espen Faugstad, founder, leads with 83 courses and 215k plays. He is followed by Tonje Hellevig, a freelance content producer (8 courses), Elin Lovinda Bae, an information security adviser (9 courses), Aina Øverås Skott, a data scientist (2 courses), Olav Erik Storm, a photographer, and Marcus Moberg, a digital consultant at Intuvio AS. The catalog page also lists Magnus Øye, a senior software architect with 4 courses. A "Bli kursholder" link invites new instructors to apply.
Study programs
Alongside single courses, Utdannet.no offers nettstudier (online study programs). The FAQ explains the difference: a course focuses on one topic and can be finished quickly, while a study program is "En samling av flere kurs i anbefalt rekkefølge" (a collection of several courses in a recommended order) for broader competence over time. Both are included in the subscription. The most popular programs by enrollment were KI-superbruker (AI super user, 11 courses and 48 hours, rated 4.83 from 198 reviews), Prosjektleder (project manager, 8 courses and 8 hours) and Kontormedarbeider (office worker, 15 courses and 37 hours). The catalog also features Fullstack markedsfører (full-stack marketer), and the menu lists Excel-ekspert, Office-spesialist, Fullstack fotograf and Mediedesigner.
Price, free courses and certificates
The homepage puts it plainly: "170+ nettkurs og nettstudier for 599 kr i måneden" (170+ courses and study programs for 599 kr a month), "Ingen binding. Si opp når du vil." (no lock-in, cancel when you like). Sign-up buttons quote access from 599 kr, and the catalog promises full access from the first minute "uten bindingstid eller skjulte kostnader" (with no lock-in period or hidden costs).
There is free material too. The FAQ says several courses are entirely free without a subscription, that many paid courses have free trial lessons, and that no payment details are needed to watch free content. Free courses include Gratiskurs i digital markedsføring (taken by 3,493 people), Gratiskurs i WordPress and Gratiskurs i Claude Code for nybegynnere. A section of free fagartikler (short video explainers) runs from 3 to 27 minutes each, with 29 on Photoshop, 45 on Excel, 45 on AI, 25 on Copilot, 23 on Claude and 36 on SEO.
Each finished course earns a "kursbevis med navnet ditt" (course certificate with your name) that you can add to your CV and share on LinkedIn. That is a certificate of completion; the site does not describe it as a formal qualification.
Courses work on computer, tablet and phone in the browser, there is an Utdannet app for a better mobile experience, and you can pause on one device and continue on another. The footer links to a help center and to pages for businesses and for education.
What learners say
Recent reviews are mostly positive and specific. One learner praises the Divi Builder course and calls Espen Faugstad "meget pedagogisk i sine videoleksjoner" (very good at teaching in his video lessons). A recurring note is that fast-moving AI tools date the videos: one reviewer of the generative AI course was disappointed that a video tool it teaches had been shut down, and another says some tools no longer looked like the videos.
Who it suits
Utdannet.no suits a Norwegian-speaking professional who wants to get better at the tools of office and digital work, Excel, Copilot, Claude, Photoshop, WordPress or Google Ads, and would rather pay one monthly fee than buy courses one by one. The study programs give structure to someone building broader skills, such as an office worker or a would-be marketer. Free courses and trial lessons let a learner try before subscribing.
It does not suit anyone who cannot follow Norwegian, or a learner who needs an accredited qualification rather than a course certificate. Teaching is recorded video, so there are no live classes, and learners in fast-changing AI subjects should expect some lessons to lag behind the tools.
