SkillX is an online course library from Australia that sells self-paced micro-credentials by subscription, alongside job-ready bootcamps, global certification prep and nationally recognized qualifications. The site says SkillX was built by South Sydney College (SSC), RTO 45279, which it describes as a nationally recognized Australian education provider, to "close the gap between education and industry". The footer draws the line between the two: SSC focuses on qualifications, while SkillX offers micro-credentials and skills-based programs. The homepage advertises "300+ Quality Courses" and a rating of 4.8 from 260+ student reviews. It serves individual learners who want practical skills for work, and companies that want one subscription for their staff, with a separate contact for academic institutions.

What the catalog holds

The course menu splits into four product lines.

Micro-credentials are the core. The site describes them as short online courses that build practical skills in business, digital, AI, cyber and project areas, sorted into AI and machine learning, cyber security and data science, ICT and business analysis, business management, networking and infrastructure, and project management. Each course "uses real tools, clear structure, and applied tasks", and the FAQ says every micro-credential includes activities and assessments. They are delivered 100% online and self-paced, with no entry requirements, and a learner can take one or stack several in the order that fits their goals.

Job-ready courses come as two-day bootcamps and a 14-week program, described as hands-on labs, guided activities, troubleshooting scenarios and career preparation for tech, cyber security and digital roles.

Global certifications are specialist programs from partners, covering AI, cyber security and technology. The menu names AI Certs and TechDX, and the homepage says learners can prepare for global certifications from Microsoft, CompTIA, AI Certs and others.

Professional (accredited) courses are the formal qualifications: the ICT60220 Advanced Diploma of Information Technology, the BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management, the ICT50220 Diploma of Information Technology, and single units of competency. The site calls them nationally recognized online qualifications for learners who want formal study with flexible delivery.

Certificates versus accredited credentials

The FAQ is precise about what each route earns. Finishing a micro-credential through a subscription earns a SkillX Professional Certificate, which recognizes the learner's participation, progress and skill development within the course and which the site says can serve as evidence of competence at work. An Accredited Certification, a Statement of Attainment, is the Australian nationally recognized credential, and it is issued only after formal assessment, either by upgrading to a pay-per-accredited certification or by enrolling in the professional course. The FAQ adds that some micro-credentials may count toward credit in future qualifications if the learner completes a formal assessment, depending on the course and provider. The marketing calls the micro-credentials "accredited and stackable"; a learner who needs the formal credential should plan on the paid assessment step.

How learning works

The site describes its support model as AI plus human help. Adaptive AI tools give real-time feedback and adaptive learning paths, AI-based progress monitoring tracks achievements and flags weak areas, and experienced mentors add guidance, clarify concepts and give personal advice. For teams, the business page says learning is "guided by AI prompts that adapt to the individual, with real educators on hand to keep staff on track". Content is updated regularly across business, IT, cyber and data.

Buying is self-service. A learner adds a course or plan to the cart and checks out; the account is created with the first order, login details arrive by email, and access to the SkillX Online Portal starts immediately. Access to the library lasts as long as the subscription or course access is active.

Plans and prices

Subscriptions give unlimited access to the micro-credential library on two plans. The Essentials Plan covers self-paced learning with resources and SkillX Professional Certificates. The Premium Plan adds AI support, trainer forums, webinars and networking groups, and a learner can upgrade at any time. The business page sums up the model as all courses in one subscription, with no single course fees. Accredited courses are sold separately, pay per course.

The free entry point is the Skill Starter Pack, listed as a free trial that opens 6 courses at "No charge - AUD$0.00", start anytime, with an estimated 13-20 hours for each course, self-paced.

A sale that ended on 14 September 2026 advertised up to 65% off subscription plans and up to 34% off selected accredited courses, with project management and cyber security qualifications from $68.75 a week or $2,960 upfront against a listed $4,500.00. Those were promotional prices; the homepage shows no standard subscription price. A country selector switches between Australian, Indian, Singaporean and US prices in AUD, INR, SGD and USD.

SkillX for business

The business page pitches staff "unlimited access to a library of accredited courses" under one subscription, with "certainty on cost". It lists four buying models: monthly or annual subscriptions, seat packs for smaller teams, bulk access for enterprise, and pilot programs to test before scaling. Setup is quick, according to the page: staff receive individual logins within minutes, and HR and L&D teams follow engagement and progress on admin dashboards the site calls scalable and real-time. The homepage adds corporate options of personalized content for industry-specific challenges, self-paced, structured or mentor-supported delivery, and custom reporting. Use cases named are SMEs wanting all-staff access, enterprises upskilling in digital, leadership and compliance skills, and managers who need job-focused modules. A free program consultation starts the process.

Support

SkillX lists one phone number, +61 2 8599 8866, and separate email addresses for general enquiries, corporate and institute enquiries, admissions, and support for individuals, corporate clients and academic institutions. Course advisors help learners choose, and the footer links to a refund policy and terms of service.

Who it suits

SkillX suits a working adult who wants short, practical courses in AI, cyber security, data, ICT or project management and likes the idea of one subscription for the whole library, with the option to turn chosen units into a nationally recognized Australian credential later. The free Skill Starter Pack lets a newcomer try 6 courses before paying. Someone aiming for a full diploma in IT or project management can enroll in the accredited course directly. For companies, the seat packs, pilots and dashboards make it a fit for a small team as well as a larger rollout. A learner who needs a formal credential should budget for the paid assessment, since the subscription certificate alone is not a Statement of Attainment.
