Almentor is an Arabic-language online learning library: a subscription catalog of video courses taught by experts and public figures from across the Arab world, aimed at adults who want to build career, business and personal skills in their own language. Its homepage title is "التعلم رحلة حياة" (learning is a lifelong path), and its subscribe banner promises unlimited access to more than 1,000 recorded courses in Arabic. Next to the consumer library sits Almentor for Business, which sells the same catalog to companies, government bodies and NGOs for staff training. The site runs in Arabic with an English switch in the header, and has light and dark modes.

The catalog

The site groups its content into training courses, learning programs, most popular and newest courses, and its expert roster. The courses featured "this week" on the homepage give a feel for the range:

  • Parenting: protecting your child from screen addiction, taught by Hamida Al-Imam (1 hour 31 minutes).
  • Creativity and problem solving: managing problem solving, with Dr. Ayman Makawi.
  • English: learning English from zero to professional, part one, with Mohammed Al-Jaber.
  • Core business applications: AI for Microsoft Office professionals, with Abdulrahman Hashim.
  • Entrepreneurship: Entrepreneurship 2.0, building a business model, taught by a team of three.
  • Self-development: content creation and building a persona with AI, with Sameh Owinat (4 hours 29 minutes).
  • Sales: sales management from A to Z, with Hossam Refaat (4 hours 15 minutes).
  • Marketing: marketing with AI.
  • Psychology and mental well-being: understanding and managing emotions, part one, with Dr. Emad Rashad.
  • Employment skills: mastering job interviews, with Wael El-Fakharany (47 minutes).
  • Personal branding, and HR: managing Generation Z in the workplace.

Every card shows a star rating, an enrollment count and a running time, so learners can see how long a course takes before starting it.

Almentor also has a "Podcourse" format, closer to a recorded conversation between an expert and a host. Examples on the homepage include automating business with AI, the political economy of crisis management and reform in Egypt with Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, psychological change in the social media era, a talk with the space scientist Dr. Farouk El-Baz, an analysis of the book Good to Great, going from employee to manager, strategic marketing, and building psychological resilience. These run from 44 minutes to just over two hours.

Learning programs

Learning programs bundle several courses into a path. Six appear on the homepage:

  • BBC Lesson, described as a free educational initiative in partnership with the BBC for children. It has five connected tracks: English for beginners and then more advanced language skills; math through addition, subtraction, fractions and mental multiplication; science topics such as space and electricity; and mental health, helping children understand their feelings and cope with stress, displacement and loss. It relies on BBC educational videos and totals 5 courses and 3 hours 47 minutes.
  • Business English, at intermediate level: workplace conversation, job interviews in English, clear professional email, and presentations built on storytelling. 5 courses, 15 hours 11 minutes.
  • Advanced English: fluency strategies, pronunciation, tenses, conditionals and reported speech, professional report writing, and a course preparing for the IELTS exam. 4 courses, 15 hours 18 minutes.
  • Freelancing for beginners: what freelancing involves, building a personal brand and portfolio, pricing, negotiation, proposals and contracts, and working on platforms such as Mostaql and Upwork. 3 courses, 8 hours.
  • Essential AI skills: AI types and generative models, neural networks, prompt engineering for tools like ChatGPT using frameworks such as APE, RACE, COAST and RISE, using Gemini, and bringing AI into Microsoft Office. 5 courses, 8 hours 20 minutes.
  • Sales mastery: from sales basics and customer types to professional negotiation, customer relationship management, and using CRM and AI tools. 13 courses, 42 hours 52 minutes.

Generative AI training with Google Cloud

A homepage banner advertises an exclusive generative AI leadership training, billed as the first Arabic training in generative AI made in collaboration with Google Cloud. It teaches how to apply AI tools at work and prepares learners to sit the Google Cloud certification exam.

The experts

Almentor leans on recognizable names. The expert section lists, among others, the composer and producer Hamid El-Shaeri, the space and geology scientist Dr. Farouk El-Baz, Abdullah Salam (executive and managing director of Madinet Masr), Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin (the UN Secretary-General's special envoy on financing the 2030 sustainable development agenda), former antiquities minister Dr. Zahi Hawass, the actor Khaled El-Sawy, the singer Ahmed Gamal, the psychiatrists Dr. Mohamed Taha and Dr. Emad Rashad, Wael El-Fakharany (an Edenred chief executive), and Youssef Soudan, a podcaster and university lecturer. A separate page invites experts to apply to teach.

Reviews from learners on the homepage are short and positive. One learner wrote of a leadership course, "لقد تعلمت في ساعات ما لم أتعلمه في سنين!" (I learned in hours what I had not learned in years). Another called a digital marketing diploma course strong for beginners and still useful for people with some experience.

Access, app and pricing

Access is by subscription: the closing banner offers unlimited use of the 1,000+ courses "starting from" a price shown on the subscription plans page, which the footer links to. Learners sign up, log in and follow their courses in the web app. The mobile app lets learners download courses and watch offline, use a short "clips" feature for bite-sized content, and close the screen to listen to a course as audio. A help center and contact page handle support.

Almentor for Business

The business offer is pitched with a figure: more than 250 leading government and private organizations across the Arab world use it. Companies get unlimited access to the catalog, offline and ad-free learning on all devices, and detailed performance reports to follow employees' progress. For larger clients the site describes custom learning platforms, programs aligned with national initiatives and development goals, youth and community skills programs, end-to-end management from design to delivery, and analytics to measure learner progress and program results. It names ministries, NGOs and global companies as the intended clients.

Who it suits

Almentor suits Arabic-speaking professionals and students who want polished video courses in their own language on business, sales, marketing, AI, English and personal development, taught by people they may already know from television, business or academia. Parents get the free BBC program for children, and teams get a business plan with reporting. It is less suited to someone looking for courses in English, or for formal academic credit, since the catalog is built around short professional courses and talks.
