Abba Cursos

Abba Cursos is a Portuguese-language catalog of free online short courses for people who want to train for a job, add a qualification to their résumé or collect complementary academic hours. Its homepage headline is "Cursos Online Gratuitos com Certificado" (free online courses with a certificate). The business behind it is Abba Educação e Tecnologia LTDA, listed in the footer with its Brazilian CNPJ company registration. The model is simple and stated plainly: registration, enrollment, course materials and the assessment are free, and the certificate is the only thing a learner pays for.
How the model works
The homepage puts the offer in capital letters: "O ABBA Cursos disponibiliza GRATUITAMENTE o cadastro, a matrícula, o material didático e a avaliação! Somente o Certificado é pago." In English: Abba Cursos provides registration, enrollment, study material and assessment free of charge, and only the certificate is paid. A link next to that sentence explains how to obtain the certificate, and the site has separate pages titled Certificado (certificate), Como Funciona (how it works) and Métodos de pagamentos (payment methods).
For a learner, that means the course itself can be taken, studied and tested without spending anything. The decision to pay comes at the end, only if the learner wants the certificate. The homepage does not print the certificate price; the Certificado and payment methods pages are where it is explained.
The courses are what Brazil calls cursos livres, open short courses outside the formal degree system. The site describes them as "de Atualização e Capacitação," meaning refresher and skills-training courses, and it has a page explaining what cursos livres are. Every featured course on the homepage is listed as running "De 20 a 180 horas," from 20 to 180 hours.
What the certificates are used for
The site is direct about why people take these courses. In its words, the certificates are "muito usados em A.A.C.C. (Atividades Acadêmicas Curriculares Complementares em faculdades), Prova de Títulos (consulte seu edital), capacitação profissional e enriquecimento de currículo." That is: they are widely used for complementary curricular activity hours at colleges, for the credentials round of public selection exams (with the reminder to check the specific exam notice), for professional training and for strengthening a résumé.
The phrase "consulte seu edital" matters. Whether a certificate counts in a given public exam depends on that exam's rules, and the site tells candidates to check rather than promising it will count. The same logic applies to college activity hours, where each institution sets its own rules. What the site does offer is a certificate check: a section titled "Autentique seu Certificado" lets anyone authenticate a certificate on the site, which helps when a college or employer wants to confirm one is genuine.
The catalog
The homepage counts 518 online courses, 512,965 registered students and 802,935 active enrollments. The subject areas listed are:
Administração (administration), Agropecuária (agriculture and livestock), Artes (arts), Assistência Social e Socioeducação (social assistance and socio-educational work), Construção Civil (construction), Contabilidade (accounting), Direito (law), Educação (education), Educação Inclusiva (inclusive education), Estética (aesthetics and beauty), Idiomas (languages), Indústria e Tecnologia (industry and technology), Informática (computing), Meio Ambiente (environment), Moda (fashion), Nutrição e Gastronomia (nutrition and gastronomy), Odontologia (dentistry), Psicologia (psychology), Saúde (health), Segurança (security), Técnicas Profissionais (professional techniques), Turismo (tourism) and Veterinária (veterinary).
The courses at the top of the homepage show the practical, job-linked character of the catalog:
- Controlador de Acesso (access controller), in the security area, for the professional who "garante a segurança das pessoas e da instituição," ensuring the safety of people and the institution.
- Informática Básica (basic computing), pitched as essential whatever a person's field.
- Agente Administrativo (administrative agent), for careers in both public and private institutions.
- Cuidador para Apoio ao Aluno com Deficiência nas Escolas, training carers who support students with disabilities in schools.
- Atendente em Unidade de Saúde, covering the duties of a receptionist, secretary or assistant in a health unit.
- Educadores no Serviço de Acolhimento, for educators in residential care services for children and adolescents.
- Auxiliar de Classe (classroom assistant), on helping the teacher with teaching activities and with organizing the classroom routine.
A second block of featured free courses goes further into education, law, health and public administration: Assistência a Crianças e Adolescentes em Situação de Risco (assistance to children and adolescents at risk), Desafios da Gestão Escolar (challenges of school management, starting from the history of Brazilian school management), Psicomotricidade e Educação Física Adaptada (psychomotricity and adapted physical education), Primeiros Socorros (first aid), Direito Digital (digital law), Introdução ao Direito Penal (introduction to criminal law), Excelência na Gestão Educacional (excellence in educational management), A Prática Nociva do Bullying (the harmful practice of bullying), Contabilidade Pública (public sector accounting), Introdução à Gestão em Saúde Pública (introduction to public health management), Introdução à Educação do Campo (rural education) and Introdução à Biblioteconomia (introduction to library science). Each card shows its own enrollment count, from 386 to 5,504 students, and a "Matricule-se Grátis" (enroll free) button.
The mix tells you who the site is for. Education, inclusive education, social assistance, health support roles and public administration dominate the featured list, which lines up with the stated uses of the certificates: school staff and education students adding hours, and candidates building credentials for public positions.
Signing up and studying
Learners create an account through Cadastre-se (sign up), enroll in a course for free, and study through the Área do aluno (student area). Courses are taken online, and the assessment is part of the free offer. The site also runs a blog and a Quem Somos (about us) page, and has pages for its advantages (Vantagens), frequently asked questions, terms of service and privacy policy.
Support runs through WhatsApp, flagged at the top of every page, and a contact email in the footer, plus a Fale Conosco (contact us) page.
Who it suits
Abba Cursos suits Portuguese-speaking learners who want short, low-risk courses in practical fields and a certificate they can use for college complementary hours, a public exam's credentials round or a résumé. Because only the certificate is paid, a learner can study a course in full and decide afterwards whether the certificate is worth buying. Education and social care workers, health support staff, administrative staff and candidates for public jobs are the clearest fit, given what the catalog features.
It is not built for an English-speaking audience, since the whole site is in Portuguese. Nor is it an employer training platform: it sells to individual learners, not teams. And because acceptance of a cursos livres certificate is decided by each college or exam notice, a learner should check those rules before relying on one.
