What Yoctel is
Yoctel is an assessment software company, Yoctel Solutions Pvt. Ltd., with an address in Hauz Khas, New Delhi. Its main product for this directory is EOA, short for Exam On Air, an online test platform for schools, coaching institutes, training organizations and corporate HR teams that want to run exams, quizzes and surveys without paper. The company sells it as one of five modular products: Yomark, an OMR reader that scores paper answer sheets; Chronon, a question paper generator; EOA for online exams; COA, short for Class On Air, for live classes and on-demand video; and SIMS, a student management system that connects students, faculty and parents. A lighter edition, EOA Lite, is sold separately at a per-student price. The common thread is automating the exam cycle, from registering students and uploading a question paper to declaring results and analyzing them.
Running exams on EOA
EOA is a web application with an administrator panel. From one dashboard, which the site calls a "single administration cockpit", an administrator creates tests, registers students, sets marking, assigns students and views reports. The site positions it for school or institute assessments, skills tests, certification exams, pre-hire testing and employee evaluation.
Getting a paper online is the part Yoctel stresses most. An administrator uploads a Word file of a question paper in one go, often the same file already typed for a classroom test, and the software detects sections, titles, instructions, questions, options, answers and explanations and separates them. Images and MathType or ChemType equations inside the Word file are supported. Any language that can be typed in MS Word works for the question paper, as long as question and option markers follow the prescribed format. The FAQ estimates that a typed paper of about 100 questions takes two to five minutes to upload and five to ten minutes to set rules for, so seven to fifteen minutes from scratch.
Question types follow the entrance-exam patterns the FAQ cites, such as IIT JEE, GATE and CAT: MCQ with one or several correct answers, grouped MCQs for comprehension and data interpretation, true and false, integer type, matrix match, linked questions, and assertion and reason. Essay, skills-based and simulation questions and personality tests can sit in the same assessment. Marking schemes include partial marking, negative and positive marking, linked-question marking where one answer depends on the previous one, and matrix questions marked by row or by cell. Questions are classified by subject, module, sub-module and level, and an adaptive scoring algorithm adjusts question difficulty to the student's responses.
Students are added one by one or in bulk from an Excel sheet, with an automatic e-mail confirmation, and an administrator can let visitors register themselves and approve them later. Tests can be assigned for a fixed date and time, within a time window, or left open for any date in the session. Administrators also schedule tests for different users, create grades, send messages by mail and SMS, upload videos, notes, news and notices, and change the logo, header and footer of the student panel.
The test-taker experience
Four questions appear per page by default, with a paging bar, and the administrator can switch to one question at a time, timed display or a set number per page. A virtual OMR sheet stays on screen throughout, which the student can hide or show, so a candidate can answer on the question itself or by filling the bubble, which gives both an online test and a simulation of a paper exam. Candidates can review and change answers, mark questions for review, and see a colored panel of answered, unanswered and marked questions.
The site says the internet connection is needed only to start the test and to submit it. If the connection breaks, the server records the session, and by default only the last five minutes are lost. EOA runs on web, mobile and tablet, and the product page says tests can be conducted and progress tracked on Android and iOS.
Results and analysis
After every test the student gets a compact report to download as a PDF, with tables, graphs and a set of meters: the site names an Accuracy meter, a Status meter, an Aptitude meter, a Speed meter and a Latent meter. Analysis runs by batch or section, subject, topic, sub-topic, test paper and difficulty level, and can be viewed from the student's, faculty's, director's, parent's or institute's point of view. Students and faculty have profile pages that keep every test record, and parents can see their children's performance.
Results from paper exams can join the same picture. A school that scores paper tests with Yomark uploads the result Excel to EOA, and the platform analyzes online and offline candidates together and can declare a combined result; the site asks customers to request its merged online and offline plan for this.
Study material and live classes
EOA includes what the site calls an inbuilt LMS for video and content sharing: PDFs, videos and daily reading material that students can download, plus test packages. The site describes it as "a Learning Platform" as well as a test platform.
COA covers live teaching. The homepage says "We make it so easy that you can start your Online Live Classes in next 5 minutes", lists on-demand video alongside live classes, and describes COA as a secure live class platform that stops copying of videos. Customer testimonials on the homepage mention using the online test platform, live and recorded classes, OMR software and mobile apps together.
Branding, hosting and selling tests
Institutes can brand the student panel with their own logo and sub-domain. The FAQ says EOA is hosted at a link the customer provides or a sub-domain of the customer's website, and a customer without a website gets a sub-domain on Yoctel's cloud. A "Make Money" feature lets a customer create sub-clients and offer their students tests from its own panel. On question security, the FAQ says Yoctel signs a written agreement not to use or circulate a customer's questions and stores questions encrypted in its database.
Pricing and plans
EOA is sold three ways: one-time payment, SaaS, or pay per usage. Registering students costs nothing; in the FAQ's words, "The charge is only on the creation of a test on an uploaded question paper and on the registered students when he/she takes the test." The FAQ then says "Ask for tariff plans" rather than printing rates. The product page's title advertises the online test platform "at 1299 Only" without stating a currency or period. EOA Lite is priced on the homepage as "Just ₹2 per Student", with unlimited exams at no extra charge and web and Android access that the site describes as free. Both pages carry a free trial request form, and the product page offers a free demo. The footer links to a cancellation and refund policy, and the pricing menu lists separate pages for OMR software and the question paper generator.
Support runs through a toll-free number and separate support and sales e-mail addresses. The homepage names clients including Dips Academy, DR BHATIA Medical Coaching Institute, Enginners Institute Of India, Gyan Bindu and Shri Sai Das Classes.
Who it suits
EOA fits coaching institutes preparing students for competitive entrance exams, where Word-file uploads, negative marking, matrix questions and an OMR-style answer sheet mirror the real test. Schools running both paper and online exams get the most from it when they also use Yomark, since results merge in one report. Training and HR teams can use it for pre-hire and employee tests. Institutes that teach live as well as test can add COA from the same vendor.
The site is built around exam delivery and analysis rather than course creation, so a creator who wants to sell a full video course with a checkout will find the study-material features light. The per-test, per-student charging suits institutes with a known exam calendar; anyone wanting a fixed list price will need to request the tariff plans.
