What ExamOnline is

ExamOnline is online exam software with built-in remote proctoring, sold to organizations that run assessments rather than to individual learners. The company describes it as "a secure, cloud-based platform for creating, scheduling, and delivering exams with AI-powered remote proctoring," aimed at universities, corporates and certification bodies, and its FAQ adds recruitment teams, training organizations and government organizations to the list of users. The homepage says it is trusted by 250+ organizations, and the company's guide to proctoring software puts that at 250+ organizations across 25+ countries. The product belongs in two of this directory's categories at once: it is an assessment tool for building, delivering and scoring exams, and it is a proctoring service for supervising candidates who sit those exams away from a test center.

How an exam runs

The homepage lays out four steps. An administrator creates the exam and configures the proctoring settings for it, invites candidates, monitors the session while the AI-based proctoring flags suspicious activity in real time, and then reviews the results and the monitoring data. According to the FAQ, the exam software brings question creation, candidate registration, exam scheduling, secure test delivery, automated scoring, result processing and reporting into one platform. The solutions section adds support for diverse question types, automated evaluation, real-time results and scalable workflows. Proctoring settings are customizable and can be tailored to specific exam formats, so a short screening test and a licensing exam need not run under the same rules.

Before a session starts, candidates go through what the company calls a strict authentication process. The system can verify identity, check the webcam and microphone, confirm browser and device requirements and walk the candidate through a basic environment check. During the exam, monitoring covers webcam video, audio, screen activity and browser behavior, and the proctoring module lists live video, face and object detection, screen sharing and browser lockdown. A secure browser keeps candidates away from unauthorized resources while the test is open. The system flags events such as additional faces, frequent screen switching, unusual movements and attempts to open restricted applications.

AI flags, people decide

The part of ExamOnline's pitch that sets its tone is the split between detection and judgment. Its guide describes two proctoring models: human-supervised proctoring for smaller, context-heavy exams, and AI proctoring with human review for high-volume, high-stakes exams. In the second model the software watches behavior at scale and a person makes the final call on each flagged incident. The company says this keeps exam rules "enforced consistently while final decisions remain evidence-backed and human-led." Depending on the setup, a live proctor may watch the session, AI may analyze it, or both, and incidents can also be reviewed after the exam using recorded evidence and audit logs.

After the exam, the platform can generate a proctoring report with recorded events, timestamps, flagged incidents and other session data. The company treats this record as the real product of proctoring: evidence trails, incident records and decision logs that "support transparency during audits, appeals, or regulatory reviews." For an institution that expects candidates to contest results, that trail matters as much as the live monitoring. The guide also says the approach can keep supervision consistent across thousands of candidates, which is the scale argument behind the AI layer.

Modules beyond the exam engine

ExamOnline sells several solution modules around the core software. The certification exam module is described as an end-to-end platform for certifying bodies, with automated scheduling, admit cards, live proctoring, instant result generation and automatic certificate issuing. A hiring module, powered by a product called HireOnline, covers pre-employment assessments and AI proctored interviews, and the company says it scales from a handful of candidates to bulk hiring drives. For exams that have to happen in a room, the company delivers center-based testing in professional test centers for academic, certification and government exams. Proctoring as a Service, a VR assessment solution and a generative AI solution also appear in the product menu, and the company says it develops custom modules, portals and integrations to match an institution's own workflow. Its industry pages cover higher education, learning and development, competitive exams, healthcare and corporate hiring.

Security, integrations and devices

The security section lists data encryption in transit and at rest, user authentication, the secure browser, the AI detection layer and strict access controls so that only authorized users reach exam data. The company states that its exam software is "programmed entirely in-house," which it presents as the basis for data protection, privacy and confidentiality. The footer links to pages on data security and GDPR compliance.

On integrations, the homepage promises a connection to an organization's existing learning management system, and the guide says ExamOnline works with existing LMS, assessment platforms and enterprise systems so that exam data stays centralized as programs grow. The pages name no specific LMS, so the connection is something to scope with the sales team.

The FAQ says candidates can typically sit a proctored exam on computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones, but it calls a laptop or desktop the most reliable option because proctoring needs webcam monitoring, browser controls, screen activity and identity checks. Candidates are usually asked to complete a system compatibility check first, covering browser version, webcam, microphone, internet connection and screen-sharing permissions.

Pricing and support

The site publishes no prices; the routes in are "Request a Demo" and "Contact Sales." Sales and support run as separate departments, each with its own phone line and email address on the site.

What customers say

The testimonials on the homepage each carry a 5/5 rating. Afzalur Rahman of Apeejay Shipping Limited writes that "The ExamOnline platform is intuitive and smooth to operate, backed by a responsive support team," and singles out "Detailed post-exam reports, including full video and screen recordings." Bernadette Olivia, an exam administrator at Ogya Tekno Nusantara in Banten, Indonesia, thanks the company for "helping us conduct secure and efficient remote exams." Muain Haseeb, executive director at Al Arab Medical laboratories in Saudi Arabia, praises the "user-friendly interface, customizable settings, and detailed proctoring reports." The registrar of The Indian College of Anaesthesiologists credits ExamOnline with running the ICA OLYMPIAD, which the college calls "the first-ever nationwide online objective exam for Anesthesiology postgraduates."

Who it suits

ExamOnline fits organizations whose exam results carry consequences: universities running final, progression or eligibility assessments, certification and licensing bodies protecting the value of a credential, recruitment teams comparing large applicant pools, and enterprises using tests for hiring, promotion or screening. Its design leans toward volume, with AI monitoring across large candidate groups and human review kept for the flagged cases, and toward defensibility, with recordings and logs ready for an appeal or an audit. The certification module's admit cards and automatic certificates suit a credentialing body that wants delivery and paperwork in one system, and the test-center option covers exams that cannot move fully online.

It is less suited to a teacher who wants a quick classroom quiz or a course creator who needs a quiz inside a course: the product is sold through demos and sales conversations, and its weight is in supervision and governance rather than lesson building. Candidates need a working webcam, microphone and stable connection, and some will find webcam and screen monitoring intrusive, so the stakes of the exam should justify the setup. The company itself notes that how well a proctored exam works depends on the security controls, exam design, monitoring method and review process the organization chooses.
