Examica
Tap a star to rate
Examica is a test-making and grading platform for teachers that handles two kinds of exam in one place: paper tests sat in the classroom and graded with a phone, and online tests sat in the browser. It is an assessment tool for a teacher or a school, not a course platform or a learner catalog. The home page calls it "a hybrid teaching platform trusted by thousands of teachers" and the "Best tool for online testing, as well as in-class paper exam grading with a mobile answer sheet scanner app." Further down, the page says it is trusted by 30,000+ teachers and describes Examica as "the #1 platform designed for teachers". Both are the company's own claims.
Building a test
There are three ways to get questions into Examica. The first is to write them in the web portal or the mobile app. The second is to upload a file holding a test you already have, which the home page offers as the quick way to get started. The third is the AI test generator, which the page says "simplifies test creation by automatically generating questions based on your uploaded content or chosen topic." So a teacher can either hand it material, such as notes or a chapter, or simply name a topic and let it draft the questions. Whichever route a test comes from, it can be fixed afterwards: the app lists correcting typos among its features, next to creating new assessments.
The reporting filters list "variant" alongside test and class, so a single test can be run in more than one version and its results still read together.
Paper tests graded by phone
The paper workflow is the part that sets Examica apart from browser-only quiz tools. The teacher prints answer sheets, the class fills them in during the lesson, and the teacher grades them with the Examica answer sheet scanner app. The home page says you can "grade them in seconds", that grades are given automatically, and that results are saved "for you to browse and analyse." In practice that removes the step of reading each sheet against a key and typing marks into a gradebook. The page frames this around in-class exams, which suits schools where devices are scarce, where exam rules require paper, or where a teacher simply prefers students to work on a desk rather than a screen.
Online tests by link
For a test on screens, the teacher generates a link for an online execution of the assessment and shares it with students. While they work, the teacher can "watch their progress in real-time as they solve the test." The teacher sees the class working through the test as it happens instead of waiting for submissions to arrive.
Paper and online are not separate modes you pick once. Under "Hybrid testing" the page says teachers can "conduct all your assessments in a hybrid way - paper, online or both at the same time." One class can therefore sit the same test partly on paper and partly online, and the results still land in the same place.
Feedback to students
Under "Instant feedback" the home page says Examica can "automatically generate and send informative result reports to your students." That closes the loop that paper exams usually leave open for days: a student sees what they got right and wrong soon after the test rather than when the stack of sheets comes back. One of the testimonials picks out exactly this point, saying "I love how students can see exactly what they answered."
Reports and analysis
The reporting side is where the home page spends the most words. It says Examica "generates detailed reports that highlight strengths, weaknesses, and trends at both individual and group levels," and invites teachers to use the data "to inform instructional decisions, differentiate instruction, and drive continuous improvement in student learning outcomes." Three features sit under it:
- Measure students' performance: aggregated results are visualized so a teacher can see the strengths and weaknesses of a class as well as of a single student.
- Compare in-class and online: online results are analyzed together with in-class scanned ones, so a hybrid test does not end up as two separate result sets.
- Advanced filters: the data can be filtered by test, class, variant or testing method.
For a teacher with several classes, the class and test filters are what turn a pile of scores into something useful, for instance spotting that one class struggled with the same section of a test that another class handled well, or that results differ between the paper and the online sitting.
The app and the web portal
Examica runs in a web portal and in the Examica mobile app, and the home page says all features are available in both. The app is not only a scanner: it lets a teacher "scan and grade answer sheets, but also create new assessments, correct typos, analyse results and much more." A teacher could set a test on a laptop, fix a mistake in it from a phone just before class, scan the sheets in the classroom and read the reports later on any screen.
Pricing, languages and support
The sign-up button reads "Start for free", and the site menu has a Pricing page, but the home page shows no plans or prices, so the home page does not say what the free start includes or what a paid plan adds. The site is offered in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Vietnamese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean and both simplified and traditional Chinese. Support runs through a contact page, and there is a blog and a short introductory video on the home page.
The company sums up its offer as "time-saving, performance-enhancing, cost-effective solutions at every step from test-building and grading to analyzing and sharing data."
What teachers say
The home page quotes three teachers. Sarah Johnson: "Amazing app, really easy to use and quick qualification obtaining the results instantly, saving a lot of time in manual qualifications." John Smith: "Great resource! Has cut my grading time down immensely! Amazing customer service too!" Emily Thompson: "Great app, the amount of marking time it saves is so good. I love how students can see exactly what they answered."
Who it suits
Examica suits individual teachers and schools that still give a lot of paper tests and want the grading and record-keeping done by a phone, and teachers who switch between paper and screens depending on the class or the day. The AI generator and file upload help a teacher who wants a first test ready quickly. It has nothing for someone who wants to build or sell a course.
