What it is

Artium Academy teaches music online through live one-on-one classes. Its home page headline is "1:1 live online music classes for all ages," and the site describes an offer that covers vocals and instruments in both Indian and Western music, taught by certified teachers to a structured curriculum. Every learner can book a free trial before enrolling.

The academy leans on well-known names. Its pages promise masterclasses by Sonu Nigam, KS Chithra, Aruna Sairam, Shubha Mudgal, Louiz Banks and voice expert Ananth Vaidyanathan, and the courses FAQ says these artists shaped the courses themselves: Sonu Nigam the Hindi film music and Western vocals courses, KS Chithra the South film music course for Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, Aruna Sairam Carnatic classical, Shubha Mudgal Hindustani classical, Louiz Banks piano and Raju Singh guitar. The kids page lists Sonu Nigam as Patron-In-Chief, and KS Chithra and Aruna Sairam each as Faculty Head. The company behind it is Artium Academy Private Limited, with an address in Mumbai.

The courses

The course catalog is weighted toward Indian vocal music, with Western instruments and vocals alongside:

  • Hindi Film Music, which the site describes as a first of its kind in India, combining training in Hindustani classical music with scientific voice training.
  • Regional film music in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, each built on a base of Carnatic music and voice training. The Telugu course runs "From Ghantasala to Bahubali".
  • Carnatic Classical, from Sarali Varisai to complex keerthanams, raga alapanai, niraval and kalpana swaram, and Hindustani Classical, a performance and improvisation course aimed at Khayal and Thumri singing.
  • Ghazal and Hindi Devotional, the latter ranging from singing aratis to performing devotional music, plus South devotional classes covering bhajans and keerthanas.
  • Karaoke & Stage Skills, offered in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada versions in the trial form.
  • Western Vocal, for pop, rock, R&B and more, covering chest-head mix, pitch, timing and mic confidence.
  • Instruments: Piano (chord-scale relationships, jazz, contemporary music and Hindi film songs), acoustic and electric guitar, keyboard, and Tabla for Hindustani music in solo and accompaniment settings.

The longer course descriptions show what a lesson works on. Carnatic classes cover swaras, talams, varnams and kritis and build shruti, gamakas and manodharma. Hindustani classes cover sargam, raag development, bandish, alaap and taans, balancing theory with riyaaz. The Hindi film music classes work on breathing, high notes, feeling and pronunciation so that film songs sound like real performances rather than karaoke.

For absolute beginners, the piano page says learners start with posture, finger placement, chords, rhythm and reading basics, and the guitar course is built around live sessions and clear daily practice plans.

Classes for kids

The kids page is aimed at parents and sets out how the program works. Courses are "Perfect for ages 6 and up," and the FAQ adds that Carnatic singing can start as early as 5. The process has three steps: book a free 1:1 trial class in singing, piano or any course the child prefers; an academic expert assesses the child's level and recommends a course; then the child enrolls. The trial is offered "at your preferred date & time" with "No commitments, Fees or Credit Card Required," and parents are encouraged to sit in, especially with children aged 6 to 10.

The curriculum runs across four levels: Preparatory, Intermediate, Proficient and Advanced. Lessons cover rhythm (clapping, beat cycles, tala practice), melody (voice training, scales, pitch matching, raga or key work) and theory (notation, solfège and compositions). Between classes, children use a Practice Studio with a metronome, tanpura and tabla, do in-class quizzes, and complete weekly tasks and practice recordings with personalized feedback from their mentor. Parents get 24/7 customer support, flexible time slots, class recordings and reports, parent-teacher meetings, a tailored curriculum and a progress tracker. The FAQ claims that most students can independently sing or play complete pieces by the end of their first course level.

Performance is part of the pitch. The site mentions weekly online showcases, recitals, the Artium Showcase and Artium Superstar events, and quarterly masterclasses with maestros. The kids page features young students, including one it says became first runner-up at Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.

Teachers and scale

The site says it invests "a lot of time into carefully selecting and training our teachers based on class observations and your feedback." It cites 400+ certified teachers, 126K+ hours of teaching music annually, "Overall 10+ years of teaching experience", and teachers who speak and sing in different languages. It describes them as "India's Top 1% music teachers" and says children learn from teachers from music schools such as Trinity, Berklee and Vijaybhoomi. The kids page says the academy is "Trusted By 35,000+ Parents Across The Globe" and that TIME Magazine and Statista named it one of the top EdTech companies in the world in 2025.

Certification

Artium's courses sit inside what it calls the Globally Recognized Music Programme (GRMP). The home page says all courses for kids and adults are GRMP recognized and mapped to other exam grades, written as "ASM = Trinity+ABRSM+RSL, Gandharv, etc." The courses FAQ says the program is "internationally accredited and at par with renowned music institutes worldwide" and aligned with global standards (Of-qual). Learners choose between a graded path toward these certifications and a non-graded path for learning without exams, and the home page says certifications are given on course completion.

Free tools and partners

Anyone can use Artium's free online instruments: a shruti box or tanpura, an online metronome, an online piano and a tabla. The kids page also runs a partnership with Keep Alive, which adds an exclusive 20% discount on all courses for families who sign up through that page, applied to the listed class price, along with local meet-ups, annual recitals and networking events.

Who it suits

Artium Academy suits families who want live, personal music teaching for a child aged six or older, especially in Indian classical, film or devotional singing, with clear levels, parent reporting and a path to graded certificates. Adults get the same one-to-one format for piano, guitar, Western vocals or any of the Indian vocal styles, starting from zero if needed. The trial booking form asks for the course and the student's age band, from 6-12 up to 40+, so adults book the same way. The free trial and assessment lower the risk of choosing the wrong course.

The caveat is cost visibility. The site publishes no prices; each course links to a fees page, and the only figure shown is the 20% partner discount.
