What it is
Starfish Labz is a Thai-language learning platform and online community for teachers, students, parents and anyone who wants to keep learning. A post on its own blog describes it as built by a Thai team for lifelong learning and 21st-century skills, and the footer credits Starfish Education, which the site's news section calls the Starfish Education Foundation (มูลนิธิสตาร์ฟิชเอ็ดดูเคชั่น). Sign-up starts by choosing a role: teacher, student or parent. The site describes the account as membership of a community system for exchanging knowledge online ("ระบบชุมชนเพื่อการแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้ออนไลน์"), a place to learn and connect for educators and parents. For a learner, the offer is short self-paced courses with a free online certificate, free live workshops, a video library, articles and education news, all organized around themes that matter to Thai schools and families.
Courses and certificates
The home page sums up the course offer as learning about innovation, new approaches to education and child development from experts, parents and institutions, available anywhere and at any time, with a free certificate at no cost ("ได้เกียรติบัตรฟรี แบบไม่มีค่าใช้จ่าย"). The blog post adds that every course is free, includes exercises and a test, and ends with an online certificate, and that lessons mix video, articles and activities to try.
Courses are short. The examples on the site run from two hours to three and a half, and each is tagged with a skill area (EdTech, Technology Skills, Analytical Skills/Cognitive Skills, integrated learning, future education) and a level, "basic" in every example shown. Each course card lists its rating, the number of ratings and the number of learners, which helps a newcomer see what others have taken. Examples from the site:
- a course on managing work with Gmail and Google Calendar from Starfish Academy, rated 4.9 from 191 ratings, with 577 learners;
- a Google Docs course from a Google for Education Partner, with 568 learners;
- a course on recognizing online scammers, with 2,057 learners;
- a climate-change course for learners aged 13 to 18 from the city administration of the Thai capital (กรุงเทพมหานคร), rated 4.8 from 1,270 ratings, with 4,990 learners;
- Makerspace courses on thinking skills for the climate crisis and on designing safe, livable communities;
- courses on working with ChatGPT, on changing your mindset, on personality and confidence, and on everyday English idioms.
Several courses on the home page are marked "ต้องใช้ 100 เหรียญ" (requires 100 coins). Coins belong to the community's collection system, described below, while the site presents its courses and certificates themselves as free of charge.
What the catalog covers
Courses, videos and articles are organized into "6 Key Pillars":
- future education administration (modern school management, learning culture, future education);
- innovation in the modern classroom (EdTech, teacher tools, integrated learning);
- future skills (analytical and cognitive skills, technology skills, soft skills);
- future careers (popular side jobs, new work trends, careers in demand);
- self-care and development (real-world problems, physical and mental health, principles for living);
- parenting in the digital age (child development, tools for parents, raising children with special needs).
Further sections cover lesson plans and learning units, assessment for learning, learning experience design, school planning and academic administration, and teacher wellbeing. That spread is what serves the three audiences: school leaders and teachers find management and classroom material, parents find child development and parenting, and students find future skills and careers.
Workshops and FutureEd Fest
Starfish Workshop runs free online workshops and seminars from experts, parents and institutions, with a certificate for taking part ("พร้อมรับเกียรติบัตรหลังเข้าร่วม"). The current listing shows sessions under the FutureEd Fest banner, run by Starfish Academy in two-hour morning and afternoon slots on October 3 and October 10, 2026. Topics include AI-driven teaching innovation using generative AI to build classroom materials, creating teaching media with the AI tool Botnoi, thinking beyond what AI produces when making content and projects, "High Tech × Human Touch", how schools should govern AI use, mindset and resilience through simple music activities, and Planet Makers, an online workshop that links the capital's disappearing community ways of life, the SDGs and the city's education policy to a STEAM Design Process for community-based learning.
Each card shows the seats still open, and sessions close when they fill: two of the AI workshops were already marked full ("Workshop เต็มแล้ว ปิดรับการลงทะเบียน").
Videos, articles and news
Beyond courses, Starfish Labz publishes video clips that the site says help viewers learn, find ideas and draw inspiration for educating and developing Thai children. Recent uploads include panel talks of well over an hour on teacher career growth and on turning a school concept into an action plan, and shorter clips on retirement planning and personal finance. Series include Today's Parent and Chef's Table Eat & EDUCATE. Articles cover education technology, parenting and policy, and an education news section, aimed at teachers, parents and students alike, follows Thai curriculum changes, exam news and school stories.
Community, coins and badges
The blog post describes the community side as a coin collection system, honor badges ("ป้ายเชิดชูเกียรติ") and a place to swap experiences with other learners. The platform has an online community area and a knowledge network alongside its courses, so a teacher can follow up a course by comparing notes with others working on the same problem.
Scale and partners
The home page prints its counts: 450K+ members, 25.2K+ schools and educational institutions, 15.6M+ learning activities completed, 673K+ certificates awarded, and 9M+ for its reach to students ("ผลกระทบส่งถึงนักเรียน").
The organizations listed as publishing knowledge on the platform ("องค์กรเผยแพร่ความรู้") are the Office of the Basic Education Commission, ก่อร่างสร้างเด็ก, the capital city administration (กรุงเทพมหานคร) and the Office of the Education Council Secretariat, and the site says it works with organizations in both the public and private sectors. News posts report that the Office of the Basic Education Commission and Starfish Education launched "Future Youth Thailand" to bring future skills to 2.7 million Thai young people, and that five Rajabhat universities signed an MOU with the Starfish Education Foundation for an "Innovative Teacher" pilot that trains student teachers.
Certification for schools and educators
Apart from course certificates, Starfish Education lists an educator certification program (โปรแกรมการรับรองนักการศึกษาสตาร์ฟิช) with three tracks: MLC Certified School, MLC Certified Teacher and MLC Certified School Leader. These appear among Starfish Education's services rather than as Starfish Labz courses, alongside the other Starfish names the site links to: Starfish Academy, Starfish School and Starfish Class.
Who it suits
Thai teachers and school leaders get the most from it: short practical courses on classroom technology and school management, free workshops with certificates, and long-form talks on curriculum and school planning. Parents find child development and digital parenting material and the Today's Parent video series. Students and young adults find short future-skills courses on tools such as Google Docs and ChatGPT, online safety and career themes, each with a free certificate.
It suits less well anyone who does not read Thai, since the courses, workshops and articles are in Thai, and anyone after a degree or academic credit: the certificates here are for completing a course or attending a workshop. Courses are short and pitched at a basic level, so a learner who wants deep study in one subject will need a longer program.
